Fun fact: Catherine’s mother despised her because their family despite being nobles were on the lower end of the stick and she was supposedly jealous her daughter got into a higher position than her.
Yep. Her mother was a princess by birth, but a “low ranking” one.
Fun fact, Catherine had no living sisters!
Wasn't Catherine's match her doing tho?
@@xtxpxhx not sure, most likely the dad considering the time. Either way still bitter.
@@ianmeadows6941 mmm i recall reading somewhere it was her mother previous friendship with empress Elizabeth that secured the match , matchmaking even when supervised was primordially thought as a female domain..in any case it was Elizabeth who might had decided young Catherine's destiny
Just watched both seasons in 2 days, can't remember laughing this hard and enjoying every single aspect of it! Everything and Everyone was just AMAZING! Hopefully a LOT more seasons to come!
Where to watch aside in hulu?
this aged well
*Bubble, bubble, bubble!*
*Chew, chew, chew!* 🤣
What a wonderful actress Gilliana is!!!
Yes she is and funny too.
This is very very veeeeery loosely based on real history... so much so, that the show itself is no longer 'inspired & heavily-stylized avant-garde' but more surreal at this point.
They literally say at the beginning "occasionally a true story" so this shouldn't come as a surprise. Its what they meant to do.
did you ever actually watch the show? or even JUST the intro??? they CONSTANTLY remind you that its incredibly loosely based on actual history...
@@ook4698 wow how poignant
@@alantes the tagline is quite literally "an occasionally true story"
Lol guys ^^ I don’t think they ever said otherwise they’re just commenting on the shows tone. Chill
Gillian Anderson was amazing in that season!
I can only hear Margaret Thatcher’s voice
And something most people don't know, her mother would have probably called her Sophia, not Catherine.
0:32 so cute
Oh I’m first I love aunt elizabeth😂 5:06
Great scene at the end! 👏👏👏
I'm ready for the rest this felt like a half episode
It is easy to take power and sometimes i even in joy it
Well this looks awesome. I never heard of this show before. Time for me to subscribe.
bubble bubble
Catherine the great had no living sisters. She had one sister who died in infancy.
the show quite literally prides itself on being inaccurate. your point is?
@@ook4698 Not everyone is as brilliant and well educated as you! Nor are they aware that the show plays loose and fast with the facts. My point (and I do have one) is that at least 13 people so far liked and appreciated my comment! Now please go troll someone else!
@@notbill08 troll?? 😭 i dont think u know what trolling is... the shows tagline is literally "an occasionally true story"
@@notbill08anyone with some sense knows most of these shows ALWAYS plays with the truth loosely😒
Such a great actress, never met her and I don't like her 🤣she did her job well...
Isn't that Gillian Anderson from the X Files? I'd be surprised if you hadn't seen her face in memes at least!
Joanna Elisabeth of Holstein-Gottorp didn't have four daughters.
She had one daughter and she hated the girl until it was time to marry her off.
And none of Catherine's children were sired by Peter.
It's entertainment.
Wow almost like it’s a tv show
@@jaclynbush5778 Well, there's a debate around Paul, the firstborn. While there are speculations it's hard to deny that he bore resemblance to Peter and had similar mental health issues.
@Delta Sweet as Honey I was expecting a history Channel documentary...
She’s very spry for a heavily pregnant woman
Is there a 3 season?
Yes
May 12th.
it's out now
Genuine question; In the show, did Peter willingly sleep with Catherine's mother or did she coerce him into sleeping with her just to spite Catherine? Cuz the scene at 3:29 is her basically molesting and sexually harassing Peter.
She manipulates him into it, but Peter definitely sleeps with her voluntarily when the time comes
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Glad to see the X-Files lol.
This is so far from real history, its actually fiction 😂😂😂
thats literally the point.
Yes
The slogan of the show is literally "an *occasionally* true story"
@@ATWTMVTVFTVSGAVRALPS right, just embrace it .. i love this show for that
I thought Catherine’s sisters died in infancy and she only had two brothers?
It's only occasionally a true story.
If you’re going to divulge this much from the fact why not just make it a total fiction with new characters
Because it's not as funny as satire over more or less true events.
Why is there a black man there?
Color blind casting
Because it's meant to be fictional.
He's guarding the palace.
Because black people actually held positions of power in great European households. Evidenced by the many portraits that have been left behind from that era, historical records too. You yourself could research to see.
Because black people have existed since the dawn of humanity. Also, because black guards did exist...
