    In this video we will show a 2023 Model Y Performance with stock suspension and compare it to our 2022 Model Y Performance with stock springs and adjustable Tein Endurapro Plus adjustable shocks. These shocks are around $600 to $660 for a complete set and well worth the upgrade. If your backseat passengers are suffering or the wife hates the ride in the Model Y you just bought her then this might be your affordable solution. Link to products below:

    I owned a 2018 Model 3 then traded it in for a 2020 Model Y. The 3 was smoother on the bumps. When I too my Y in for service, Tesla gave me a Model 3 loaner. Wow, what a diff riding on the same streets I usually ride on.

    I have a 2020 Model Y and absolutely hate the factory suspension. My old 2007 Honda Element with 19" wheels had a MUCH smoother ride. I either need to change out the shocks or sell the car which btw only has 12K miles on it. That part of your video where you were jostled about in the driver seat, I can totally relate to that. Horrible!!!

    Thanks for the awesome review! Are adjustable rear camber arms necessary if I am not lowering or upping the size of the wheel? I am on a Model 3 AWD LR. Also, would it make sense to add EDFC to the shocks? Looks like fun.

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  Před rokem +1

      EDFC wont work on this due to the oem rear mount. No need for camber arms with stock springs either..

      @@zevcentric Thanks for the quick reply. Surprised and disappointed that EDFC doesn't work as the shocks are listed as compatible with EDFC. Understood on the camber, so don't need to worry about it. While the shocks are getting installed, what is the next piece that you would recommend if I were to consider putting something in? (Now that I don't need camber and can't get EDFC.)

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  Před rokem +1

      @@InvestorBen it's all contingent on the factory uppermounts and because ours practically touches the chassis you cannot mount the motor on top of the rear shock. You would have to buy the Flex Z coilovers. If you only want ride improvement there's really nothing else that needs to be done.

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  Před rokem

      These shocks are back ordered until July probably. I have not had that issue but at the same time I think some people might be going beyond the 16 clicks that Tein recommends. I also do not know if this could be related to installation error. I highly suggest that people look at the illustrations and read that comes with these

    • @georgeborrelli3134
      @georgeborrelli3134 Před 7 měsíci +2

      On the Model 3 you can adjust the front Tein adjustable shocks without removal, just pull the plastic panels of the frunk. Likely the same for the Y. The rear you have to pull the rear wheels and you may have to drop the shock a bit, I'm not sure if you can get your fingers in there without dropping it some. I'll know soon....

      There was a refresh of the OEM suspension in 2022, not sure when.
      But the main "issue" I find with some of the Teslas is not that they are too stiff, but the dampers are too "bouncy", for instance if you have uneven road in an roundabout, the earlier cars would kindof "hop".
      So if you fit like coilovers or whatever, it might be stiffer - but the better shocks then will still make it feel more comfortable, as it doesent "hop" that much.
      Control at high speed iis also very different.
      I dont know if you have the Y with the refresh suspension though, that is not as rough as the early models.
      For instance I would say my 2023 VIN YP from Berlin is more comfortable with 21" than the 3P I had from 2019, even if I ran the 3P on 19" (a lot of sidewall).
      I did put KW V3 on the 3P, it was then harder - but also better :-) Especially at higher speeds where the car would stay planted very well.,

    It never ceases to amuse me that ridiculously uncomfortable wheel/tire profiles are considered "cool", while the comfortable alternative is considered "not cool -- at all". If you're racing then sure, the razor's edge is what you want. But to just drive on public roads where (hopefully) you're nowhere near the limits at any time, there's nothing "cool" about punishing yourself.

    do the TEIN coilovers provide anything else over these? or am I ok with just these shocks

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  Před rokem +1

      They are for different purposes. The coilovers will ride stiffer than the shocks alone and will also feel best when lowered one inch. For those who do not want to lower or just want a softer ride with lowering springs would be candidates for the shocks over the coilovers.
