The song is called "Disobey" and is about not conforming and doing you're own thing which is fitting because this song doesn't follow any kind of typical song structure.

Spot on with The Silence of the Lambs shoutout, this song feels like it just came out of Hannibal Lecter's fridge. Go for Aeon next, it's like something out of Holocaust or Japanese Red Army. Pure evil track.

Recommending Aeon next, or their re-recording of Innocence of the newest album. Good stuff! And good stuff to these videos too! Also, @5:30 ish, when most of us listen to music we compare it to things we know: "It's like x, it's like y". Crystal Lake, I think, wants us to think instead: "It's like x...wait, no, it's like y...wait, it's NOT like x". They want us to come out of this thinking that Crystal Lake sounds like Crystal Lake. By changing the sounds, rhythms, and melodies we're used to in music of this genre, they're cutting away space in our brains for their own special niche, and it's worked. Crystal Lake lives rent free in my head and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ryo is just awesome check some of the tracks he features in such as Dexcore - Cibus, ColdRain - Mayday, Agnes - Hills have eyes, have you heard Dexcore - Brain Washing?? they are a japanese metal core band

Hell yeah dude🤘I feel like each time I'm listening to CL, their songs are built differently. They don't have like a distinctive structure or sound except for Ryo's gutturals and that's genius. Upvote for Devilcry or Aeon next.

AEON is a pretty good overall representation of the spectrum of their sound.
No it's not, it's just another heavy one. DevilCry or Apollo would be.
@@shinokugt It has various elements from multiple heavy genres; metalcore, deathcore, hardcore, even electronic. It's an ideal showcase for what they can do with each genre packed into a 4 minute song.

Agree, it's so on-point musically! I've seen reaction channels from people who are less well versed in technicality make very poignant points on that song and I think Chase's point of view would be very informative.

JBL headphones, Zoom H5N for audio, and software to tinker about. Specially premiere pro.
Apollo or DevilCry or Lost in Forever (also by Crystal Lake) are a MUST. This is great, but ultimately just another heavy one, but those aforementioned songs show more of their diversity and uniqueness.
I think Devilcry should be the next song you listen too from Crystal Lake.

I'm generally not a fan of this particular genre. But I liked this! Despite being so "brutal" it wasn't 'hard on the ears'. Does that make sense? Was it the lack of screechy tones, mix/master quality, structure? If I still feel the same way after listening to just the song on spotify, that'll give me something to think about.
Feeding me with another meal that's not on the regular menu. Chase doing what he does best!
