- Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into another excellent Tom Christie video, this time where we revisit the all too often forgotten game mode Gambit. Once a game mode with a thriving player base and hardcore fans, Gambit has unfortunately fallen to the wayside in recent years and sees next to no official support. Those that have played Gambit will know everything this video has to offer. I absolutely loved watching this, and if you did as well then I do absolutely recommend you go and check out the original video to show some support for the source material!

#1 Rule of Gambit: If you reached 15. HAUL ASS AND DEPOSIT.
Because words cannot describe of the anger I had. Because one gambit match almost like 4 months ago on the New Pacific Gambit map. I had this one person who name was in Korean. He reached 15 motes and for like the entire first half of the match never deposited them. I had to yell at him on the mic to deposite. And I reached 75 motes deposited where he deposited only those. It did not helped that I had to carry because the team I was in was 1 guardian short. So please if you play gambit and reached either 15 motes or enough motes to summon a Primeavle. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF JEHOVA DEPOSIT THEM.
no, i got bounties to do
seen people invade with 15
I'll always just keep 5 motes bank with everyone and pop a bubble 😂. Then when it becomes boss dmg go over and do the same to the boss won a few games like that so funny.
Imagine banking 15 Motes, This message is from the 20 Motes gang
The best part is that Skeletor Hates Gambit is actually a follow-up to Skeletor Hates Solar Warlocks. Watch that one, pay special attention to Beast-Man's loadout, and the next time you watch the ending of this you'll laugh that much harder. Sweet revenge.
1:00 it's a Powerful Attraction mod, goes into your class item. And yes, it still works
Thank you for this!
This'll help someone have a much better time.
There's a tragic sense of hilarity in knowing someone doing comedy sketches as Skeletor and He-Man, explaining the meta and sometimes corporate malpractice which is informative, entertaining as well as retaining. I don't play Destiny nor Destiny 2 and I can get a solid understanding of the random bullshit the game (specifically having raids in mind) and Bungie can pull outta their ass.
It's honestly perfect.
Tom Christie is a certified Legend.
when i see someone hogging a full 11, 12, 13 motes, maybe even 14 or 15, in gambit, as we only need 1-2 to summon the big boy, i will purposefully grab the few last remaining motes myself quickly, go to the bank, and dunk the motes right in front of them to blueball them from their big dunk riiiight before they can do it themselves.
i'm gonna make you learn the hard way, kid. Bank. your. motes.
Also, *Happy circular logic noises* , with Feeding Frenzy/Demo, SO DAMN USEFUL with Stasislock. it carried me so hard during my 2 last Day 1 raids
Oh yeah, I've definitely snaked the 1-2 motes just to drop the Primeval. Bank your motes or I will.
That roll sounds spicy.
I stopped playing this game ages ago, but I played Gambit religiously because it was honestly the only game mode that was any fun anymore. Whether you bank fast or wait for a blocker is a bit more strategic and flexible, and honestly depends on how many blockers they have up and if the enemy team is choking or not. If you've got a group on the other side, going for the last few motes to add another can really help, because one Knight isn't a problem, but three knights and a Captain absolutely are. Also, IN SKELETOR'S DEFENSE, I distinctly recall an achievement that required you to invade and get kills with 10+ motes, so Bungie encouraged that behavior. I don't condone it, but he could just be cheevo hunting.
Honestly, the best strategy I found isn't delaying cashing in for blockers, but rather waiting if possible to group block with somebody else. Sending three 10s over in staggered intervals is easy to clean up, but pushing three 10s right on top of each other can be a huge issue and get enemy players killed. Especially if you have someone on-point with the invasion, who will go in immediately afterwards and clean house while they're distracted and the bank is locked.
What's a good idea or a bad idea in Gambit is flexible and depends on the situation and how cooperative (and skilled) your team is. Sometimes waiting to push that last blocker through is a great idea. Sometimes it's better to rush immediately and start burning through Envoys. Gambit was honestly the coolest and most interesting game mode Destiny had, and the fact that Bungie functionally abandoned it to crank out endless pay-to-play dungeons and raids feels like an insult. They abandoned the PvP and PvEvP players to cater exclusively to the PvE players, and then they ditched them to go make their new baby, Marathon. It's not a great look.
I loved Gambit. So much fun and cool shit could happen. It just didn't get the love and care it needed to flourish.
I love how you automatically knew he was gonna invade without banking 🤣🤣🤣
Hot take, gambit was better when the large blocker was a taken ogre
5:40 that right here should have been your thumbnail of this video 😁
I totally should've.
Gambit : sweet business
crucible : sweet business
Other PVE gamemode : sweet business
Same here just like a titan
i salute you crayon enjoyer
@4:00 You know what else is common, a team mate who runs a shotgun with trench barrel or one-two punch, who will literally melt 2-3 knights in under 10 seconds. So yeah, it doesn't matter.
Fair.
Also, I know for a fact you can go 5-0 in old Gambit, because I once got 7-0 by being a greasy rat and just cheesing the enemy team. It was a combination of me having the heavy, me having an exotic heavy, and them already struggling on the brink of a wipe due to problems on their end. I killed the whole team and then almost did it again. In their defense, I did have a Truth.
My god, Kip, how many reactions do you do in a day because the number of tabs of youtube you have open that's a lot.
I'm down to 14 a week, usually done in 1-2 sittings. I just batch them out. I actually took the past 2 weeks off due to burnout, so I'm revisiting how I should divide those videos up.
Large blockers are a menace, especially in uncoordinated teams like 90% of games
Only if there are more ads or +2 large blockers makes it worth doing it. A singular blocker ain't doing anything.
Skeletor: Hahaha that’s three knights at once, you’re f- wait, is that Titan wearing Synthocepts AH WHAT THE F, THAT’S SOME BULLSH-
When I was playing D2, I loved playing gambit. Whenever I started the game, I'd sink hours in to the gamemode.
Jesus I got jumpscared by Hordak
So, super late here (just stumbled upon the channel) but best gambit memory was recently, enemy team had their bank drained, I invade as they are clearing it, wipe out three as the fourth was hiding, steal their motes, kill the fourth and summon the boss with the enemy teams motes, I kinda felt bad for that level of bullying
Amazing.
@@KipReacts It was very much a moment of "Wait a minute", reminded me of when I used to be good at gambit
I love being ‘that guy’ especially when my teammates start complaining. I only do it for the pinnacles.
Not to mention Taken Goblins are far more better at harassing the opposition. Granted it's maybe a few more seconds due to the immunity ray. Bonus points if two goblins link. But yes, bank your dang motes!
I remember there was a time in Gambit where the shield never came up, but I would punch the Primeval where it renacted the Peter Griffin and Giant Chicken fight from family guy where a Primeval Ogre and I ended up doing a lap on Emerald Coast in Gambit.
Me with Polarice Lance, or abilities charged with my favorite weapons when i invade: *Eyes Glow with chuckle* IM THE DANGER
Symmetry is my meta weapon for Invading. Getting those 20 stacks of Dynamic Charge and 2 shotting everyone with seeking projectiles
Who here remembers 20 Mote Banks
I do
@@evanmcdonald6455 finally someone
I do, they definitely should have had that amount be the knight, 15 be the fallen captain, and 10 be those stupid shield bois and 5 be goblins and thrall. Even 25 or 30 could be the ogre or beefed up wizard for both high risk/ high rewards type deal
7:23 "Do Not Do It. Do Not Even Think About Doing it. Do Not Even Think About Not Doing it!"
7:43 he did it. 😂
My favorite Gambit weapon would be either Malfeasance or Leviathan's breath
I remember my nephew needed help getting quad kills for malfeasance so he wanted me to get 2 sets of'em I did but I ran out of time on the last kill so I panic aimed and thru a waited into the unknown as I was teleported back a little less than a second later I heard. bink and the drifter going wild on my blind throw
As q gambit main can confirm the mod still works for motes and i love it
I’m here for the protect the runner triumph
I miss the old gambit back when gambit and gambit prime were separate, I used to terrorize enemy teams with Izanagi's burden and a full set of invader gear
I literally run Heartshadow in Gambit and Knights just die almost immediately because of the orbs and the weaken effect
It's a class item mod called powerful attraction
The true tragedy of this video is that "The Lament" was not added to that list of heavy weapons that just shred heavy units. Spent the past couple YEARS only using that sword in PvE scenarios and it has never failed me.
I have never had more angry messages than on my Hunter, turning invisible as an invader, and then chopping someone in half who has like 12 motes before they can all team shot me to death.
Weird thing about me and D2, normal D2 PVP I can't get kills worth a damn but in Gambit I consistently go bonk crazy mode in invasion PVP
Completely forgot about this one time when gambit prime was a thing I had goldtusk out and all I see is a warlock casting daybreak qnd I kept trying to melee the warlock for context I was under the warlock and goldtusk kept trying to connect to the warlock so it looked like I was just teleporting that warlock missed every daybreak cast....and after they ran out of daybreak they just accepted they're fate....my buddies were laughing because I was the only hunter on the team determined to eliminate the warlock they were probably annoyed and gave up....moral of summary when it comes to the most dumb things I will do it......but now a days if I were to try that it either be conditional finality that ends me or just my stupidity...
There those people and then there is me I bank only 5s just to annoy the fuck out of people lol
You Chad.
@@KipReacts lol thanks
@@KipReacts also I play titan chad class
Believe it or not Kip my best friend is the reason titans won their first guardian games he turned in so many medals that there was no chance for the other classes to catch up and ever since that every time that event is out Bungie locked his account to where he can’t login to the game during it it’s crazy the things I’ve seen this man do
I bank whatever I have at the end of any section killing phase, if its 1 its 1! Sending stuff over really doesn’t make any difference it’s all about speed to the primeval now.
You can still go greater than 4-0 even now in invasions, its just a good bit harder with the whole enemy team having heavy and likely riding out their spawns.
My best was a 7 w/ eyes, because Eyes is that good, and the enemy kept reviving when they really shouldnt have
Tom Christie is amazing.
There is one piece of advice that I’ve taken to heart from Walmart Jesus aka The Hot Wheels Warlock aka Rylee Reloaded, for Gambit:
“He who dunks first, is a Fucking Nerd.”
I myself am a member of the holy toaster order. Concentrated may the salt be. Grand may the the explosions arise.
I remember out of spite if the enemy team has primeval send only smalls taken goblins are way more annoying
It's called "Gambit" because every teammate goes Rogue as fast as they can to ruin the game for 9 put of 8 people there.
The best game of Gambit I've ever played was one were I got 10 - 15 Guardian kills
You absolute Chad!
The enemy team did not have a good time
Honestly just running in 5 at a time is far more effective. Just spamming small blockers to lock down the bank is way more annoying. My go to exotic is Tractor Cannon, you can one shot most players and shut down supers, and you can debuff the Primeval.
not the gambit i was expecting
I have done plenty of invades and team wipes with Le monarque and people hated me for it 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't play much PVP in D2, so I'm guessing Gambit was a game mode from D2 because I don't remember doing any of this. I actually didn't do much of anything in D2 aside from beating the main story and doing some strikes when the game first came out because I just got bored of the game since there was no end game content early on and you could get to end game really fast compared to D1.
The 5 mote taken goblin is better, cause it will cast sheilds on the primeval
@@Lazgar_lockman The shield can be clutch.
none of these words are in the bible
I never invade unless my super is full and I have a fair amount of heavy ammo to spare
*Me, a Malfeasance main* Wait yall switch to heavy? 💅
Ik this is old i play gambit for shaders mostly and old gambit weapons got repurposed and armors. Managed wipe whole team with Malfeasance as a Strand invisible hunter
