I’d dance to this song with my wife when we first heard it. We had a marriage that produced two beautiful daughters, and stayed together 28 years. It wasn’t a great marriage, mostly because of me, and she finally decided to leave in 2020. I heard Jeff died yesterday, and this song immediately came to mind. Our marriage is over, but this song brings me back to the good times we had and deep down in my heart I still and will always love her. I hope and pray she is happy. She deserves it. RIP Jeff, and thank you so much for a timeless song that means a lot to me.

Passed away this weekend due to a heart attack. 80s and 90s blessed us with so many great performers and such TRUE COUNTRY hits. Todays country music just is not the same.
I remember we finished the mix and played it for the promotion staff and the girls cried and then I cried. It was a #1 the 2nd biggest hit of the year. What a great singer and great human being.
When this song came out, I was going through a difficult marital situation. This song uplifted me and gave me encouragement to persevere despite the difficulties. Although my wife ultimately left me, I was glad that I did all I could to make the marriage work. Jeff Carson sang this song with such great feeling! It is difficult not to be impacted by it. It speaks volumes about marital life, its honorable estate and mystical union! I am happily remarried now to a wife who is a blessing beyond measure and have from this marriage two wonderful boys, also blessings beyond measure! All things work together for good! I still believe strongly in marriage and thank Jeff Carson for all of his encouragement. I will be forever grateful to him! I trust that he is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ!

Sad hearing of his passing today. I wholeheartedly agree with you. In the 80s and 90s country artist put out great hits. I have a collection of over 3000 albums. Today, I couldn't name a song out in country genre right now for I gave it up and started listening to old classic rock and country from 70s 80s & 90s. Guess it was around 2005 that I gave up country music altogether as far as radio or watching award shows.

I used to live in the US back in '98 for college a couple of years. I always used to watch CMT and record videotape all the time. Then Back to Europe I couldn't play the tapes because we have another TV system called PAL in US is NTSC. So then the next time I brought a VCR from US and a signal converter and finally I could play the tapes.
