  • hot chocolate before bed? game changer. there are so many little things you don’t really think of bringing to british army basic training until it’s too late and you’re already there. so here’s the things and the kit i wish i took to basic training and will definitely be bringing on my next course to make life easier.

Gday Chelsie, tip for young players - for elbows and knees - cheap solution is old thick socks, cut off toes, pull over joint to minimise abrasion, also keeps joints warm & allows easy movement

When I was a recruit I always took a keen interest what the Training Sergeants took with them.
    A indestructible flask.
A kettle, with a multi plug extension lead.
Vending tea, coffee , chocolate drinks( already in a cup) just add water from the pound shop.
A steam iron, with folding ironing board.
    Hacksaw.
    A good flashlight.
    Plenty of waterproof bags.
    Sense Of humour.

I bought a giant flask complete with two cups that held like 1.5 litres of coffee to an adventure training expedition with my College to Wales. As we were unloading our backpacks at the youth hostel someone dropped my rucksack and the inside shattered 🤔 coffee a la shards of flask anyone? 🤣

@@98CLLoyd Many things that will help/make your life easier at phase 1 & ITC Catterick, lighters, windproof preferably good for in the field and sterilising needles, baby wipes for cleaning and removing cam cream, good polish kit with altberg leder for your altbergs, Paracord, extra bungees, combination padlocks not keys, at least x2 spare twisties, zinc oxide tape is really good for your feet if you have any blisters etc, 100% headphones for ironing, a good lint roller to remove hair and extra dirt from your kit because when it comes back cleaned it has lint all over it, extra tent pegs, dry sacks/canoo bags. There are probably a few extra things that people like to take or not take but people get a feel for it themselves and then know more what they need after exercise and the first weekend off etc.

@@park_rat_matt bungees are shit and should never be used. twisters are useless as combats have ties in the bottom, altberg leder is overprices just use dar tan, if you use baby wipes you are a goping bod. if you were to take anything it'd be :Dark tan and black polish with off brush. Small clip tupperware, shave oil, dish rag.
