Spirit Proton Pack Mod: Ep4: Bumper Bar Cutout, Cyclotron Fill

Hey ghostbusters fans! In this episode, episode 4 of our Spirit Pack Mod series, I am going to cut out the solid plastic of the bumper bar, and fill the gaps in the cyclotron to make the pack look more screen accurate.
*New full sized Spirit Pack update: This same technique can be used on the new 1:1 pack as well. You will just need a lot more bondo.

Yeah, its not a mod that is often done, but IMO, makes it SOOO much better. You need a bit a of patience and a steady hand, but the results are def worth it!

what does he mix with the Bondo? This is awesome I had the same idea for the life size on and i loved this tutorial

The bondo is a two part epoxy filler. What I added was the hardener. I am going to do this to my full size pack too.

He should be wearing safety glasses that plastic bonds up and flys off the drill at high speed believe me getting a piece of plastic in your eyes hurts and depending on how big it is can cause damage

Yeah, you’re probably right, but when you get in the zone, hard to think to stop for such things. Haha. Especially when what you are working on, is a freakin PROTON PACK!! 😎

Hope you cut the pack? What not you use and what did you use to sand?

I cut it with a Dremmel tool with a scroll bit, and used a grinding bit to sand. I then used some loose sandpaper to blend and smooth the edges. Hope that answers your questions.

Awesome mod! I'm planning on doing that with my next spirit pack! What kind of filler did you use before you added the bondo? Was it a kind of sturdy paper or cardboard? Thanks! :D

Thanks! Glad you like the mod. I used heavy card stock glued in placed with hot glue.

how long have you had your spirit pack? is it pretty durable

I’ve had it for two years. And have been using pretty heavily the last 6 months at cons, premieres, and events with our group. I’ve only had to do minor repairs. It’s been holding up great!
