As a welder of 30 years, be careful when sanding on galvanized surfaces. That tin you used is galvanized, coated with Zinc…when you weld on it, sand on it…etc, you release zinc particles that are very toxic and easily inhaled. I would sand items like that in an outdoor work space and with some sort of inhalation filter. Don’t mean to rain on your post, the lamp is awesome but your safety is important!
i just learned this the other day from my boyfriend who works at a foundry and the aluminum oxide that’s on sandpaper so i cannot in fact sand down sticks with regular sandpaper for marshmallow/hotdog roasting over a fire 😅
As someone who used to repair burnt diy lamp projects like this, you should really show the maximum wattage rated for the shade you bought, and the corresponding bulb. So many of these lamps are built for halogen or xenon bulbs, and a dinky little plastic shade like that will burn like a marshmallow: At the very minimum, poisoning the air with plastic fumes, at the very worst, burning the house down.
In my opinion it's always more worth it to just diy. It's not just about the money, I personally think it's fun. It boosts your creativity and leaves you with a sense of satisfaction. You look at the new cool thing you made with pride lol
But you really need to know what you're doing. There are dangers to using these materials and sanding them without knowing what they're composed of. Especially around pets.
You need to know what you are doing. She changed out a metal lampshade with a plastic one. There may be a reason why it's metal. Take, for example, the bulb is too hot and will melt the plastic. She could burn her house down.
My ADHD brains is seeing so many different color combos possibilities and how easy it was to make makes it more likely that it’s a project I will actually finish. 🤣 So I’m absolutely in love with this DIY! 💖 Thank you for sharing this!
@@someonem1327it kinda does though 😭 I have adhd too lmao and i think what they're saying is it's easy to get tired of doing a project you start. This diy is easy and quick enough to actually get done without forgetting about it/getting bored of it
I think I would have used the Dollar Tree cutting mats for the leaves, just because I would probably slice myself a couple of times on the sharp metal pieces, but I think it’s an adorable result. If you couldn’t find a shade like that, it also could have been a little tricky.
😮 All my mom brain can do is look at those leaves and think about the hellish slices it would put into someone's arm or hand. Those edges are so sharp! I wonder if it could be rolled slightly so they wouldn't be such a cutting risk.
Absolutely love it however the bud like thing that connects the neck to the flower I would’ve also painted green just to make it blend nicer. You’re such an amazing woman and I still love your work. Thanks for continuing to post and keep it up!
Girl! Shut the front door! OMG, I would definitely diy it. Genius my friend. Im going to make that. You were so lucky to find the perfect lamp to repurpose to a flower lamp at the thrift store. I'm on the lookout for a lamp I can do this with. Thanks for sharing. You have inspired me... Thank you so much!!!
I had a flower lamp it was quite different, but the only problem was you can’t change out the light unless you like the assembled it so eventually when it started to stop working we had to get rid of it. The petals were like made out of some sort of plastic and the thing is just had gathered up there for awhile, so once when I went onto the other side of my double bed which was right below it, one little shaken, all the dust came on to me
I like how yours has a metal part at the top! Honestly something about the top of the real (and very expensive) flower lamp being completely white throws me off. Yours is honestly cuter and definitely cheaper!
DIY it for sure Honestly doing DIY saves SO MUCH money. I DIY everything I can. Like birthday/ holiday cards and room decor: I save a ton of money through DIY.
It was so much more worth it to do this diy than buy it so much more expensive! This one didn't seem very complicated and the wffect is still really stunning
This is exactly the type of woman that deserves to be treated like a queen. Very creative, very organized, she seems like she puts feelings in everything she does and she is also most likely amazing in bed.

Great insight thank you!!

I know this comment wasn't directed at me but thank you for telling us this :]
Same as E6000 the glue - it’s banned in Europe due to its extreme toxicity.
Omg in love, you’re such a great thrifter and diyer
DIY came out perfect !! 100% diy
I think so to
Even better than the original 😍

Thank you for posting this!! I was wondering about this too, since the lamp originally came with a metal shade.
Hmmm that's a really good point to consider

Also if there is something about the original you don’t quite like, such as color, you can customize it!

So worth the labor for the DIY!!💜

Good DIY! But I'd suggest covering the sharp leaves with something soft
same i thought that, with how stupid i am ill probably end up falling over it or somthn and being cut 💀💀
I think that's why she rubbed it with sand paper it makes it smooth... ig
OMG! Everything you DIY ends up looking better than the inspo version!!! I've been binging your videos for hours, lol!

you should paint the silver part white or green but I love LOVE it. I might try to make a couple of these now. so so adorable

Yes! I was worried about that too! Ahhh, the hairs at my nape are standing.
i was thinking about that too
😅
Yeah, the original one is blunt
i mean with every damn hazard we have in our home, i don’t see why people are so paranoid 😂
I think that your diy lamp looks better than the other one. Awesome job.
Ur diy is perfect 👍....great job🤗
It looks soooo much better made by hand, it keeps it looking organic!!!
Absolutely love it however the bud like thing that connects the neck to the flower I would’ve also painted green just to make it blend nicer. You’re such an amazing woman and I still love your work. Thanks for continuing to post and keep it up!

I WOULD LIKE TO DIY it ,you are amazing, thank you

That was awesome! I really appreciate your enthusiasm and smartness.

I think I might have done something with the silver at the top of the 'stem'. Otherwise, a really cute upgrade.
you’re so handy omg!! i love the design
Your soo soo pretty 😊 I love your hair
i would paint the metal of the lamp socket area thing though
i’d say that’s the only noticeable difference!

This lamp is absolutely adorable! Love it!!
I love the creativity in trying to diy this. You have a phenomenal talent my friend
I think you should paint the flower (like the petals a rosy pink

It’s adorable! Your poor scissors though 😅
DIY. BEAUTIFUL
So cute! You should paint the steel at the top white
It also cost you tools, your time, and your effort. People shouldn't forget that their time and effort is worth something
I would totally DIY it 🎉
Yours looks sooooo much better! I really enjoy the softness of your shade and it's roundness, the other one's shade seems bland in a way.
Super cute!
It was beautiful diy ♥️

DIY for sure! Amazing!!
That's fantastic!
