I still think that "waiting for the end" is a classic in linkin parks' catalog.

I will share my Own Opinion, I don't quite like it, I'm not a Fan of Electronic stuff, but, I like the First and Last Song, that's it. I much Prefer LIVING THINGS or The Hunting Party over anything on A Thousand Suns, But my Favorite Album is Meteora, So, I must be that Type of LP Fan that only like the First 2 Albums, which is also Wrong, Considering The Hunting Party is my 2nd Favorite LP Album.
This album was so ahead of its time even it's interludes have interludes.

Hybrid Theory has aged bad? really? what? I don't know about others but damn that album feels like I am hearing for the first time again, over and over.
It has incredible production values.
I still think Hybrid Theory holds up even today.
actually 5 years ago I listened to it for the first time. to me still an awesome album, and was exactly the why I turned out to be a linkin park fan. sadly it took me this long to hear their full job other than their singles.
One of the few albums I can play from track 1 all the way through and not skip a song. Hybrid Theory was LP's strongest.
B69ne it’s aged so much in that it sounds like a record from 2000. Not a bad thing though. When you listen to Metallica’s first album, it’s sounds very much like unrefined early 80s Thrash. Same with Sabbath’s first few albums, they sound their age. Again, not a bad thing. I think the ‘aged badly’ complaint is just the that first two Linkin Park albums were very much a product of their time, fully embracing the NuMetal sound which a lot of people have turned back from now.

Nobody ever said "Wow, I really wanna listen to Jornada Del Muerto right now" because that's not how Interlude tracks work. It serves to connect "Robot Boy" and "Waiting for the End" perfectly.

I'm gonna say it: this is actually my favorite Linkin Park album. Yeah, I could do without the interludes, but other than that, I think it's their magnum opus. It's just beautifully crafted with blends of both heavy electronics and live instrumentation. The lyrics are gold and the album flows very well. No tracks seem like they needs to be placed anywhere else. It's just incredible.

this is also definitely my favorite, and I think the transitions and other tracks (like the 2 in the intro) absolutely improve the experience. only exception would be robot boy, that song sucks lmao

I personally love the interludes, they make the songs transitions really smoothly, are relevant to the theme of the album and just sound nice on their own.
I don't understand how getting through this album is a 'chore' to get through. I feel like the amount of proper songs in the album is enough, they're all actually different and unique from each other and instantly recognizable once you've heard them a few times.

The Messenger really hits different after Chester's passing. It's like you could hear his pain, hurt, and pleading for help all condensed into the vocals of that song.
Ok I'm gonna be honest I think a thousand suns is perfect by an artistic standpoint
this album is meant to be listened to from start to finish with no breaks and no pauses
each track and interlude all tell the story about nuclear warfare (this is all my interpretation btw)
Requiem sets the mood with the haunting voice of a little girl telling the lyrics to catalyst a future song on the album foreshadowing what is to come.
the radiance shows J, Robert Oppenheimer as he describes the first successful test of a nuclear weapon by the US Army on July 16, 1945.
burning in the skies does talk about regret but it talks about the regret of war (a recurring point)
empty spaces shows the sound of gunshots army men yelling bombs exploding clearly the sounds of war
when they come to me gives a little break from the sad and deep message with mike telling listeners they changed and that change is a good thing however to me this also could be a representation of changes in war again a recurring theme, the chorus to me represents the screams of war.
robot boy tells that during war no-one cares if you'd like to fight or not no matter what you need to fight.
Jornada da muerto has the phrase "mochiagete, tokihanashite
“Mochiagete, tokihanashite” is written and spoken in Japanese. It means “lift me up, let me go”; another phrase repeated in A Thousand Suns. The meaning of the phrase? It’s an eerie spiritual callout to be lifted from this world and to be taken away from the cruel Earth.
Why is this phrase in Japanese? A tragic reason: A major theme of A Thousand Suns is nuclear warfare. The Japanese, of course, were the first, and so far the only, to suffer the devastation of the nuclear bomb. Thus, it would make very tragic sense that the first mention of this phrase in the album would be in the language of those innocent who fell first. Although this song’s name directly refers to the Trinity test, and not the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, one could still argue that the day Trinity went off was the day the fate of tens of thousands of Japanese lives were sealed.
waiting for the end is keeping with A Thousand Suns' theme of human fears, and appears to be Linkin Parks take on death and the repercussions in life from it
Blackout though hidden in my opinion still keeps up this theme of warfare, specifically with the term" blood in your eye"
The term, ‘blood in your eye’ or simply ‘red eyes’ is often used in describing a situation where somebody is in such a significant amount of emotional or physical stress [ or other influence ] that causes their eyes to turn red.
In medicine, this description is referred to as “Subconjunctival Hemorrhaging”.
In this case, however, the term may be referring to somebody’s desire to harm somebody else, especially since this phenomenon is seen in situations where a person is angered [ enraged even ], saddened, tormented, etc…

A Thousand Suns concerns nuclear war & the end of the world.
Wretches and Kings is about the social aspect of the end - the total control of persons or groups The whole song brings an aggressive feeling to the listener.
It is about control (groups claiming power) and people getting deceived and manipulated.
It calls for resistance!
wisdom justice and love The uplifting eleventh track on Linkin Park’s fourth studio album A Thousand Suns serves as a prelude to “Iridescent”.
The track samples an inspiring speech delivered by the great political activist Martin Luther King Jr., entitled “A Time to Break Silence”. The speech, delivered by Luther King on April 4, 1967, at the Riverside Church in New York City, questioned the humanity of the Vietnam War and all war in general.
As the speech goes on, Martin Luther King’s voice gets more and more distorted until it’s barely recognizable compared to the original voice this to me represents how no one listens to these words.
in iridescent Mike sings the two verses, which essentially paint the grim aspects of existence, which are juxtaposed against the optimism voiced in Chester’s chorus. In the same way, the whole band joining in the chorus represents how the actual message in the song should take root with ALL. EVERYONE.
fallout shows a reprise of “Burning in the Skies”, which only means one thing: the beginning of the end.
The album has come full circle and we are now back where “Burning in the Skies” had left off. Humanity is at the brink of its destruction. The reprise reminds us of who was at fault for all of this: all of us.
We have essentially destroyed ourselves as a consequence of not giving up our wreckless traits and learning to love.
in the catalyst
The first verse introduces the theme of hopelessness present throughout the whole song, and the album as well.
The loaded gun signifies the existential pressures of life, from politics to consumerism.
It paints the picture of a civilization that’s at war with itself so systemically that there seems to be no way to undo it. then in the second verse, there is an allusion to the atomic war. Each bomb “burns with the fire of a thousand suns” as their creators are often quoted. The sins of hands and tongues represent unforgivable words and actions, while the sins of fathers and young represent how whole countries and communities can be held accountable for the callous actions of the old or naive or misguided actions of the young. The “No!” symbolizes the speaker rejecting his/her fate.
Will God just decide to cataclysmically end his creation due to the way the people within it turned out?
J. Robert Oppenheimer, “the father of the atomic bomb”: stated
"If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one"
the messenger is about, a father trying to give his son useful advice. This one is supposed, let the kid know, that he´s never lonely. He might feel lonely but all he needs to do is to listen to his heart and the spirit. Knowing that angels are messengers, by definition, angels are typically invisible, enlightened messengers in the unseen energy we call “spirit.” Chester himself has said that it’s his message as a father to his sons. Admittedly, there is some merit to its relation to the rest of the album.
to me, this song is about a father telling a son that through all the carnage everything is going to be okay and to have hope.
while I may not agree with your opinion it is still your opinion and while I don't think it's perfect it is still my one of my favorite Linkin Park album to date, I respect your opinion and also respect the fact you read through all this.
Yes thank you. The entire album puts you in a whole setting. I also really love some of the lyrics in it. In the catalyst in says “When I close my eyes tonight, two symphonies of blinding light”. It shows how the bombs are so incredibly destructive that even with your eyes closed you can still see them go off. Also the two symphonies represent the repeated use of them back and forth at each other. Honestly just the realization of the album title referencing the power of a nuclear bomb was enough to hook me.
This was absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for saying exactly what I was thinking and for expanding my understanding of the album. This album is very important to myself and my best friend and learning more about it through your message and even through the opposing view given here was very entertaining and enlightening. I hope it hasn't been too long and you end up seeing this reply.

"Blackout", "When they Come for Me" and "Wretches and Kings", which are some of the songs you bashed, I thought were really good, the latter being one of my favorites. Besides those, I pretty much agree with this review.

My top 4 for this album were personally The Catalyst, Waiting For The End, Wretches and Kings and Iridescent.
Blackout is easily one of their best, most underrated tracks.
No doubt Wretches and Kings has one of the best bass beats EVER!!! Robot Boy has a That Intro you’ll always know when you hear it!! Blackout is bad ass and Chester kills it!
"When they Come for Me" is amazing in my opinion. It's kinda weird but Chester's part is the reason I listen to it over and over again.

As someone who went to the "Thousand Suns" tour in LA, I hate how many metal fans didn`t give "Minute to Midnight" and "Thousand Suns" a chance just because they weren`t "Meteora" and "Hybrid Theory"!
I know, right? The funny thing is, if they kept going with the same sound on their first two albums, the fans would've likely criticized them for never doing anything different.

I get why it's polarizing, & I agree that the songs can't really be played separately, but that's what I love about it. Listening to the album from start to end tells a story of nuclear war, and it's chaotic and everywhere, just like war. Honestly, I actually think it's LP's most focused album when put altogether
I know this sounds weird, but the more Rocked hates an album, I more I like it. Honestly I wasn't a huge fan of LP before I heard this album, but this is honestly incredible, and shows what a band can make when they deviate from their roots.
Yeah, this album was what made me hate most separately tracked interludes on albums. THANK YOU for pointing it out.

Rocked i first don't meet the album at all so i search for it i hear the intro and i was like WTF so i find this video and prepared to hate, i click it but hearing all the songs and sharing your thinking i say take my like good man so... i think iridescent need some more LOVE because it is favorite song of the album and the WORLD but i also like waiting for the end, but you know preferences are preferences and in CZcams people care other's preferenses a Minecraft so... im not gonna be like they and respect your opinion so... in conclution i think the same of the album that you think but LOVE iridescent and like a bit burning in the skyes

Linkin Park helped me out in some tough times. I had a....hard time in school. I was stuck in a place I hated, i felt alone, alienated, and scared. Oh, and angry too. Many of their songs spoke to me. Still do.
A Thousand Suns is like the Ground Zeroes of Linkin Park, a great concept...

Dude, I don't usually comment videos on CZcams but I want to tell you about my experience with A Thousand Suns:
I remember having downloaded it as soon as it came out. I played it on my PC at home and paid close attention to the tracklist as the album progressed. I was really, really disappointed. I was angry at the big amount of interludes and I was totally expecting something in the likes of their former work (hadn't read Shinoda's quote at the time). I really thought it sucked. I couldn't pick one single genre to define the album from the many they explored on it. I got frustrated and gave up on listening to it.
Several weeks later (maybe months) I got home after college. It was already a long while since I listened to Linkin Park for the last time and I was also interested in new styles of music. I wanted to hear something different, so I remembered that I had the album downloaded, played it and went to bed. I began listening to it far from the PC, not caring any less for the tracklisting, the track names or whatever. I just kept staring at the ceiling with the lights out and let whatever type of music contained on the album get into me. I didn't care about the many intros/interludes. I just felt the ambience, heard the lyrics, felt the beats, with no hurry at all, and began thinking "ok, I wonder what's coming next" basically at the end of each track. I got excited with each passing song. I was being able to connect the lyrics and themes in a more abstract layer. It all tied together lyrically (ok, except for When They Come for Me). And even musically. And then it happened. By the time Iridescent's chorus hit me, I burst into tears. It was perfect. And after that, the album ended nicely. Except for The Messenger, of course.
So your message has to be "don't care about tracklisting, people! If you _feel_ the album enough, it's better off that way!", right?
P.S.: If there was a song with a brilliant buildup to the last chorus that I want to tear up at, I want it to be "Iridescent". I did that once though, and it was Coldplay's "Christmas Lights". It wasn't even Christmas but once I played it before Christmas, once the song went to the "Oh, Christmas lights light up the street" part, I started crying for some reason. Weird. I didn't cry before hearing this song. And I am not saying I didn't cry at all in my life before because that would be ridiculous and would shatter the medicine's artistic license for a bit, it's just that a song probably has never made me cry and I've heard "Christmas Lights" a lot before.
This is beautiful, and I had a similar experience. It was so easy to dismiss at first cuz it was different. But the more you listen to it, the more it sinks into you. It’s so deep and meaningful, the melodies and the artistic bravery. Incredible album.
This is exactly how I also experienced the album. In my opinion, it is one of their best releases. Back in the day I liked this album more than ''Minutes to Midnight''. This album doesn't belong in the ''Regretting the past'' category. You cant even compare the music from A thousand suns to any other music what has been in this ''Regretting the past'' category.
The messenger is just a horrible ending for a Linkin Park album. I never expected to hear an acoustic song on a Linkin Park album
On the subject of Fans blindly defending artists: Have some goddamn standards. Being fan can also mean being critical of their work and giving that feedback to those artist in order for them to be better. Blindly praising everything they make and angrily ranting at those who don't isn't going to get you anywhere. If you like to pretend that that moldy bread you're eating is a 5 star meal then do it but don't be angry at people that spit it out and order a pizza instead. But hey maybe you do just simply like moldy bread, for some people even the most reviled albums hit the right notes for them.

+MrFutago87 I like Limp Bizkit and even I have to say Fred Durst is a terrible lyricist most of the time. He's written some decent lyrics but over twenty years he's only been able to do about a full album's worth which is kinda shit
+MrFutago87 The only artist that falls into that category for me is Billy Corgan. With pretty much every album, I absolutely hate it for about the first three listens, then is sinks in and I love it. Not sure why or how this happens, but it's very consistent, to the point where I'm genuinely surprised when I like all the songs on an album right away. I'm pretty sure the only time it happened was on the American Gothic EP, which I'm pretty sure was not particularly well received.

+MrFutago87 In that same vein, if someone doesn't happen to like a band that you like - and I don't even mean they don't like one of the albums, I mean _period_ - at least be reasonable and try to find and understand the reasons why.
For instance, maybe the vocalist doesn't do it for them, unlike you. Maybe their particular style is hard to swallow or get through. Maybe the lyrics put them off for some reason. You can like them as much as you want; it's your taste, your opinion, your band. But try to be reasonable and understand that there is going to be at least one person out there who won't like them as much as you.

@@tommcglone2867 It's okay to not like an artist's final work before they died. For instance, the fact that The Last Jedi was the last Star Wars movie Carrie Fisher worked on before her death didn't deter Star Wars fans from hating it. A lot of Linkin Park fans felt the same way about One More Light.
So I just discovered this amazing album thanks to this review. I will say that prior to this, I hadn't heard any Linkin Park aside from Numb and In The End. I didn't come into A Thousand Suns as a fan of Linkin Park at all, so I had no bias coming in to it. I think it's absolutely amazing beginning to end. I really can't see why so many people hate it. Is it because it's different from Hybrid Theory? Personally, progressive rock/metal is my favorite genre of music so A Thousand Suns was right up my ally. Thanks for telling me about this album! I'd give it a solid 9/10.
Look at it this way: Whereas Hybrid Theory and Metora are made for teens, A Thousand Suns is for adults, because they understand the meaning of the songs.
My final verdict on a thousand suns is that it's an ambitious mixed bag. A band trying to transcend itself and do something different, taking great risks. If it's a failure, it's an admirable one given its ambition, and it still houses iridescent, a song i consider an anthem for hard desperate times. That song brought me back from many dark places.

I respectfully disagree with you since I do consider "A Thousand Suns" to be one of my favorite albums. Then again, that album came at the right point in time for me as I was transitioning between my teenage years and becoming a young adult. I grew up as an LP fan, even really enjoying "Minutes to Midnight", so I liked that they went deeper and more emotional there. I can see why you didn't like the album yet your review reminded me why I love it so much. Just getting started with watching your videos and I like what I'm seeing so far. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews!
A Thousand Suns is not really an album meant to be taken track by track. It's best experienced not as 15 tracks, but taken in as a whole, a singular entity.
It's designed to be listened to as an actual album, where you don't have a track listing. Where there is no "loading time". Every song just flows into each other. Which is why they added a 43 minute single track version of it to Spotify and Apple Music.

Dude, speak for yourself. Those "pointless ambient noises" are actually pleasant in my opinion. Ambiance is often thrown out of music composition as what you described: "pointless ambient noise", but when trying to create a mood or atmosphere, ambiance works amazingly. You don't need an instrument to create something worth listening to. I hate when people try to say what should and should not be used in music. It's so limiting.

@@kushalbhattacharjee2252 There are 15 tracks on the album, and only 5 of them are interludes. That may seem like a lot, but the total amount of time taken up by these tracks is a whopping 6 minutes over the course of a 48 minute album. That's not a "majority", the last time I checked.
Sure, to some, those interlude tracks are pointless, but I like them, other than "Empty Spaces", which is literally just empty noise. They hammer home the theme of the album and set an emotional backdrop.
I get disliking the album. I know A LOT of people that didn't like this album. Hell, I hated it for years until I listened to it a few years ago. Still, it's far from awful enough to deserve a spot on this list next to those other coat-hanger-abortions.
@@richardsinclair7661 well I think that LP didn't manage to pace their story arc really well. The first two interludes or intro are great, but they should have used one and then proced to hit the listener hard. Other problems are that the other interludes have the same context, an anbient digital sound with a speech with heavy uses of effects. They could have done something different, maybe some mini electronic Track or instrumental one. But yeah, Regreating the past is probably to much for this album, different of others that have been featured at least Thousands Suns was trying something.

I original stopped listening to LP after Minutes to Midnight, but when I heard they were coming to Orlando in January 2015, didn't know they had made 3 more albums and listened to them and really do like this album.

This is the one LP album I actually really like, love actually, it's different then the rest of their catalog, it's a good change up after listening to Death & Thrash all day. Not a Linkin Park fan by the way but this is a good album.

A Thousand Suns is my favorite. Living Things is my least. I'm a die hard fan and am willing to admit that I do not like everything they make. But I feel that A Thousand Suns is very atmospheric and artistic to me.
I love/live every song.
Yeah, I'd never heard this album in it's entirety, and I know Luke isn't a fan....but this breakdown solidified for me that i need to sit down and really listen to this album. Like, yesterday.
Meteora is my favorite album. I was bored listening to Minutes to Midnight, but years later I started to appreciate the album. This and A Thousand Suns are an acquired taste for me.

ATS was a weird first listen, but after I started listening to the tracks from this album individually, I really started liking it. It definitely deserves more than one listen, and grows onto you overtime. Definitely my top 2 linkin park album.
This is honestly what happened to me this video.
When you started playing "Waiting for the end" I was like "This is... okay?" And you were talking about how it's the most memorable, etc, and then you played it again except where Chester started singing.
I liked it so much that as soon as you stopped playing it, I paused the video and went to listen to the actual song about 5 times. It is now one of my favorite Linkin Park songs.

I became a fan at 9 or 10 when I listened to "Breaking the Habit." I grew up in California, so I was exposed to KROQ. I listened to more of Linkin Park's music and got hooked.

as mediocre as this album is, that intro gave me shivers. i don't know if i liked it or if it freaked me out, but it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

I think I'd classify myself as somewhat of a Linkin Park megafan, and I think this album is eons better than Minutes to Midnight. I do agree that this album was far too bogged down with unneeded interludes and, but every song on ATS has more than enough substance to make up for the plethora of empty space on the rest of the album. That being said, it's a shame they didn't fill that space up with better material. It's by no means their best, that would probably be either Reanimation or The Hunting Party, but it's not their worst either. It could have been more focused and executed better but it's still a solid album. The Catalyst is still one of their best songs ever though, that's for sure.

Definitely Minutes To Midnight. It feels very awkward, seeing that it was such an abrupt stylistic change from Meteora. It had very little lasting appeal to me and quickly felt like an album made purely to transition styles. Don't get me wrong, it has some great songs (In Between, Valentine's Day, No More Sorrow), but as a whole it doesn't stand up to the rest of their discography. Besides that I'd say Recharged was underwhelming, as well as Living Things. Their only album that I think is straight up bad is their Live In Texas album, it's one of the worst live albums period.

I don't think I'd straight up avoid them, they do have some worthwhile material. Reanimation, Hybrid Theory, and The Hunting Party are their best in my opinion. But yeah, Live In Texas is just deplorable, I'd avoid that one.

i dont call myself a linkin park fanboy but i own all their albums (remixes included) and i have to say, this album is my favourite. Sure lyrically it is a bit simple/bland, but the feeling/emotions the album as a whole present i really enjoy. Side note, albums i dont like i just dont listen to, i dont see a point in needlessly defending something i dont like.

I grew up in a town with hip hop fans and even they liked linkin park. I think hybrid theory is just amazing to this day

Best way I can put it is like this:
Hybrid Theory and Meterora are like Babe Ruth: Good rate of home runs (In The End, Papercut, Numb), but also a lot of hits (strong album tracks)
A Thousand Suns is Adam Dunn: Similar number of home runs (Iridescent, The Catalyst, and Waiting for the End), but everything else has minimal real value.
Sincerely, someone who ranks LP in his top 5 of favorite bands.
I like Linkin Park, even though I'm not into nu-metal. I found many of their tracks really great.
What do I think about A Thousand Suns? Well...
1: Pretty good. It got me hooked.
2: Okay, this was a bit unnecessary.
3: It's alright, for the actual first song.
4: Yeah, I'm not missing anything if I skipped this. Seriously, this is just.....empty.

6: Wow, this sounds like it belongs in one of Michael Bay's Transformers movies. Or the trailers, at least. (And yes, I do like these movies) Not so much as a song, but makes excellent background noise.

A Thousand Suns overall, is a mix of tremendous highs and humiliating lows, and a big pile of wasted potential.
When it's good, it's great. However, when it's bad, it's really falls flat. For every good song comes a forgettable interlude.
I don't _hate_ this album, but it's just so disappointing.
It feels like you have a similar opinion to his (even at the point when you said "Robot Boy" would be a nice trailer background music). But okay.

My all time favorite LP album is Meteora. I love it as much as I do Hybrid Theory, it just dove deeper sonically. I don't mind Minutes to Midnight or half of Living Things, but I put them in the "keep them in your iTunes library and put them on when necessary" category.
A Thousand Suns was my favorite at the time of its release, and it was for a while. The unnecessary Empty Space should of just closed "Burning In The Sky" or began "When They Come For Me", and "The Radiance" should've been attached to The Requiem or ditched from the album period. "Blackout" was a WTF moment and I usually skip it. The live version of "The Messenger" is far more listenable than the album cut because it's in a more comfortable key for Chester to sing (Eb major as oppose to G major). He hardly strains he voice, it's soothing and it fits the emotion of the song.
I did love this record because it was "cinematic" for me. The story isn't clear, but I could picture this album being played in a movie because the songs were at times EPIC! (just keep the screenplay far from someone convoluted, or Michael Bay).
My last point, if you want to know how this album is the way it is, watch the documentary for A Thousand Suns. Tensions were high amongst Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda especially since he co-produced the record.
i hate how after American Idiot, every rock band thought they could do concept albums, but they forgot they actually have to have a concrete story and direction.

People always criticised Meteora for sounding too similar to Hybrid Theory, even though they did change the style up on some of the tracks (Breaking the Habit, Nobodys Listening)
I fucking hated this album when the first time I was hearing it. But after years I'm so tired to listen Hybrid Theory and Meteora, I wanted to see if this album is actually that bad. I downloaded the whole album and listen from the beginning to the end. After that one hour doing nothing but listen to the whole tracks, it becomes my favourite album from Linkin Park. There's nothing wrong if anyone consider this is a terrible album because it's an "album" that has too many intros, too many "unnecessary" tracks or too much anything else, however, I seriously consider A thousand Suns should be a single 48 minutes song rather than an album.

I guess this album isn't hated anymore which is good? I think it's their best work. Best album more specifically. It flows so fucking good and I always thought was very cohesive and the interludes worked great.
It's a shame whatever experimentation and branching out LP wanted to do died with this album. This was a concept album, so obviously it's meant to be listened from start to finish with the interludes, and my God was it fantastic. This is an album that has aged like wine, especially in terms of its lyrics. I will always look at Hybrid Theory and Meteora's lyrics being a bit too much wrapped in teenage angst.
Possibly one of the most underrated albums of the last decade.
Nu metal wasn't completely bad in the 2000s, system of a down was the best band in the genre and still is the most popular alongside korn
Linkin Park could've learned something from Enter Shikari and how they used interlude tracks in their first album "Take To The Skies", that album provides a masterclass in how to use interludes to lead into songs to the point where you cant really listen to the songs without the introductions now. Hell, they even included the interlude for their biggest single

But when you said, "You can like an artist and dislike something they put out" one person instantly came to mind: Jay Z. God Vol. 3 was horrible. So yeah I enjoyed watching this review and at least you aren't ignorant in disliking this album.

Wow. I'm going to be completely honest here. I'm in the camp of just about it being their Magnum opus. Meteora is their Magnum opus, but a thousand suns is one of the greatest albums of all time. By any band.
And before anyone wonders about the oxymoron of Meteora being their magnum opus but a 1000 Suns being one of the greatest albums of all time, Meteora is a better Linkin Park album, A Thousand Suns is a better concept album that could have come from any artist but came from Linkin park.
Also, the best thing about this video besides getting an interesting opposing view was rocking out to the music you had playing in the background for most of the video. So thanks for doing that, it made the video much more watchable.
Personally, I loved this album. However, this video was really well done and brought up valid points I really never thought of before. I never felt angry or anything like that and I'm a die hard LP fan! Great video

A Thousand Suns isn't a bad album, but it's also not close to being their best. It's probably the only album they've released in which all of the good songs don't need to be listened to with the rest of the album. Personally for me, it got usurped for the weakest LP album with One More Light which, like with A Thousand Suns, wasn't bad just not up to the standards I have for Linkin Park's music.

I think this is one of their best albums after Meteora. I liked this album when it came out and the reason for it was that the first Linkin Park album that I heard was Reanimation (thats right before Hybrid Theory I listened to the remix album) and I found A Thousand Suns as a lot similiar as Reanimation which I think is a good thing. Back in the day I loved the remixes and the samples in Reanimation and I still do. I also find the samples and all the experimental stuff on this album very attractive and interesting because its different and it doesent repeat the same stuff what they did on Minutes To Midnight. That is also the one great thing about Linkin Park, that they dont repeat themselves.
Brace yourselves...One More Light is coming.

ALSO I would consider myself a pretty diehard fan, and I really liked this album a lot, but this review brings up so many good points (and was very funny and entertaining... I subbed :D), and even I can tell that the album wasn't perfect. I love the interludes and the chilling sounds and aspects of the album, and I even consider my favorite album of theirs, but there was plenty of annoying things about the album. Overall, there were really only 8 new songs with this album. The speeches had deep meanings, but they really didn't have to put them on top of repetitive instrumentals.
