    I passed the residency exam of my country last month and wants to do medical oncology.       @@ghulamfatima6196 its better to do mrcp in our case as plab is just the licensing exam you still have to pass mrcp if you want to get residency there.

    I would have loved to find this video before I enroled to the Plab route, I recently passed my plab 1 exam. Anyway I supose it wuld have some advantages to do a training program from scratch in the UK.

    Hi,
    I have a speciality training in cardiology for 8 years so I would get MRCP but I would like to start all the core training from the start so that I can be having the chance for going to Australia through the competent authority pathway, so can I do this after MRCP? Or I can't start from the most junior level including the first 2 years of internal medicine before the subspecialty?

      Hi Laura
      Many thanks for watching. I am sorry I didn't quite understand your question. Did you mean which would be better in terms of job finding? There are plenty of jobs available in the NHS presently, all you need is a GMC registration to start with for which you have to do either PLAB, MRCP or MTI. Getting a job depends on your CV and work experience. Since MRCP is a more senior degree, you can expect job offers in more senior roles eg, registrar level. Please be aware as mentioned in this video, MRCP is only for Medicine or allied specialities like critical care so MRCP is only helpful for jobs in this area. All the best.

    Hi, I need your guidance. I did my MBBS in 2001-2006 batch. Then I joined Indian Army. I was in Army for 5years. Recently I completed a 3yrs course named Masters in Emergency Medicine (MEM) course conducted by Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI). Now I am working as Attending Consultant in a corporate hospital in Delhi. Now, I want to go for MRCP exam. Will I be able to pass the 3 exams of MRCP if I can study 2-3 hrs daily? Will be tough for me as I did my MBBS long back? Will it be better if I do MRCEM instead of MRCP? Please suggest

      I would suggest that if you want to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine it's better to do MRCEM than MRCP. All the best.

      This would depend on what your long term goals are. If you wish to pursue a career in Medicine in the UK, MRCP is the exam of choice. GP is a completely different speciality in the UK.

    PLAB Slots for 2024 Feb is opening next month.

    Or Do MD Medicine & then MRCP & then enter UK.

    Hi Mam I'm fmge from China batch 2017 I was suppose to start my internship last June but due to covid restrictions we are called this june to start our internship.. My doubt is that there is a gap year of me completing my final exams to my internship will that be a problem in gmc registration?

      I think you habe misunderstood me and apologies is the video is confusing. To be eligible for MRCP Part1 , the candidate needs to have one year of internship. For PACES, it is recommended that the candidate has 2 years of clinical experience.

      This would depend on whether you would want to work in medicine or allied specialities when MRCP is the most recommended route. However, at your stage of career I would suggest PLAB will be be a more easy route to achieve GMC registration and will give you more flexibility.

    I have done my MRCP in India. Along with MD general medicine 3 years course . I am planning to UK for my speciality training. To which i need my Alternative core competency certificate signed . To which i have to temporarily work as a non trainee for some time…. Usually how long it will take in UK being a non trainee to get the alternative core competency certificate signed ??? I know its minimum if 3 months… but what the average time…

From last 3yrs, I have been doing general medicine in a corporate hospital Kolkata. On 19 th April, I will sit for Part 1 MRCP. Madam, can I change my stream to branch of internal medicine after clearing all parts of MRCP and IELTS and getting into NHS trainee for ST3/ST4 level?? will they give me a chance to enter ST3/ST4 trainee in a branch of Medicine,like cardio/gastro/resp with 2-3 yrs experience in gen medicine???       The immediate next step would be to apply for GMC registration if you don't have that already. Following this , if you wish to work in the UK , you may apply for training or non training jobs.

      Yash, I would not recommend doing both together as the exa caters to very different group of candidates.MRCP only if you are sure of the speciality and you have to pass all three parts to be eligible for GMC.

      Yes you can since the requirement for mrcp part 1 is one year of PG experience that includes internship so you can apply for mrcp part 1 and go ahead with Pg from UK

    PLAB IS BETTER THAN MRCP AS PLAB WILL ENTITLE YOU TO MULTI SPECIALITIES UNLIKE MRCP. ALSO CLEARING PLAB 2 WILL EARN YOU GMC LICENSE IMMEDIATELY .MRCP: YOU NEED TO WAIT FURTHER 4 YEARS NOT ADVISABLE

      Both PLAB and MRCP have their own merits and demerits. One is simply not better than the other. Each exam caters to a specific subset of candidates depending on their clinical experience and aspirations.Both othe exams are coveted by so many international doctors as each has it's own place.
      Exam takers should choose wisely.
