In every football club, there are usually 3 factors for success: players, manager, owners/board..
Sometimes, one or two of the factors cover up the others (like Man United), but in Arsenal FC there’s no hope in ALL of those factors

The difference now is night & day.

I know how you feel DT. I've had 11 years of this as a Blackburn fan. To see your club ruined by clueless owners. Where the club is now a shell of what it once was. Where apathy and mediocrity has set in and the club is going backwards. Our clubs aren't similar in size but the way both clubs have been left to rot is the same.

There are no relationships developed on the pitch, partly due to injuries but mostly due to Arteta chopping and changing players in different positions. Look at the mini- relationships in that Invincibles team, Pires was excellent playing with Cole, Henry had an unbelievable understanding with Bergkamp and knew when to make those run in behind, knowing Bergkamp would find him. Vieira and Petit/Gilberto They knew when one of them went forward the other dropped back. The current team play like strangers because they haven't forged these relationships. There hasn't been enough continuity and when a player is injured the player replacing them doesn't have the same qualities.
Players aren't brave enough to play: with Arteta barking out orders constantly they don't play naturally or with any freedom, Football should be instinctual, our players receive the ball and there's a pause and the choices they makes aren't the brave ones. I think this is partly because they know if they mess up Arteta will drop them next match.....oh unless you are one of his favourites like Xhaka or Bellerin.
The distances between players was too far apart, meaning players couldn't open teams up with quick passes and interchange, it was far too predictable and slow. Very easy to defend against.
Finally most of the players don't have the quality: I saw far too many times last night where a pass isn't crisp enough, hit slightly behind the player or in a way that breaks a player's stride. I'm sure this isn't helped by the reasons I mention before but overall since Arteta has taken over its been a dreadful mess on and off the pitch.

I could have used the current Man City as an example, I chose that past Arsenal team because it is an excellent example I can give to show how much the current Arsenal team have regressed. I don't believe a team should be any better than they should just because of name, if that was the case I would have been in favour of the Super League which I am not. Arsenal deserve to be where they are in the table and Europe because they have been run poorly and have invested in the majority of wrong players and management. This comment was just to demonstrate how much was wrong with our performance the other night and if they want to get back to challenging top 4 then they need better Players, Manager and People above.

All started with the move to the Emirates stadium from Highbury I think. As a Manchester United fan I used to hate it when we had to play Arsenal at Highbury. As you knew you were going to be in for a very hard game. The pitch seemed small, the fans were right on the sidelines and it was tough. The Emirates is just another modern, soulless bowl of a stadium. Highbury had the marble hall, Chapman’s bust, years of tradition and they did everything with class. I watched United play there many times against Arsenal and it was just an old school proper football ground.
