Robert Carlyle never gave less than a great performance is everything I've seen him play in. I love the way both Robert and Craig sound more and more Scottish as they go on.
Robert was in Galway many years ago,and I met him he came to our restaurant & invited us to the theatre where he was acting he was such a lovely gentle man, very humble
Unique believe me, no point in trying to lose it because it's impossible to shake off. Mind you there are no (I Ken) I know in Glasgow and everywhere else unlike the rest of Scotland. Not knocking it as that is how we get found out.
Imagine if that other Glaswegian (and longtime rockin' pal of Ferguson's), Peter Capaldi, had been there. The burrs would have been even thicker. If alcohol had been involved, they would have been unintelligible!
@@jameshoey3964 US accents are more regionally based, with the notable exception of NYC, of course. I'm originally from North Carolina and have lived most of my adult life north of the Mason-Dixon Line, but the accent remains. It gets stronger when I'm tired or well and truly livid at someone. It only feeds the fury when people are suppressing giggles at the contrast between the accent generally described as "sweet" with my anger.
Okay, I'm just gonna say it...I don't see the problem with Robert's accent. He speaks perfectly clear to me. In fact I think his brogue has a beautiful tone to it...I could listen to him all day .
When you meet someone from your home region, if you haven't been in a while, you tend to slip into your native accent. I'm from Georgia originally, even though I moved to Ohio when I was 8, and whenever I encounter a southern accent my voice just does that whether I think about it or not. I imagine it's the same for them.
I didn't personally find it any more difficult to understand. But I'm descended from the Scottish and most of the baby talk my grandmother used was derived from Scottish turn of phrase.
I had a wee aunt who lived in oz for 40+ yrs everytime she would back to Glasgow to see my dad etc her glesga accent would come out .. and the scowl n swearing... .. fuckin loved it... I've been told by none Glasgow people my accents very strong
Same but that's 'cause I miss my glaswegian grandpa. I'd listen to any glaswegian man talk for hours when I miss him. I'm never going to hear him say, "how's my wee rascal?" again.
He's such a fantastic actor and I hope he gets even more roles so we can soak up his acting brilliance. He's so sweet and humble and geuine in his interviews, I just love him
Love how when two of em start talking, just regular conversation, that both their accents get thicker. Especially Craigs. Wish neither of em would 'water it down'. Beautiful accents.
My love for both these men knows no bounds. That they are in the same room together being adorable bundles of win is just... GOD! I Can't even! It's too much awesome in one room! X3
Прекрасный актер, Мастер!!! В каждой своей роли великолепен, убедителен, неподражаем! Здоровья Вам, уважаемый Роберт , дальнейших творческих успехов, удачи во всем! С уважением и благодарностью за Ваш труд, из России.
Sure-because he's an immensely talented actor. He was also the perfect picture of a small town policeman in Hamish Macbeth and totally charming as a laidoff caring dad in The Full Monty. I can't even talk about that other role in Once Upon a Time-I'm afraid if I say his name he might appear and I'll have a heart attack!
@@squaretriangle3945 Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I had laundry. The answer to your question is "no". I can't imagine it. The part of my brain that can imagine was irrevocably, irretrievably and irreversibly damaged. I was involved in a bizarre and hard-to-believe laundry accident.
He really does tone down the accent for the show-it is so much stronger here. I probably just sound like a ridiculous, ignorant American or something, but I can barely understand what he's saying here half the time. :P I love Robert Carlyle, though. The man is one of the most amazing actors ever. It's fun to watch the two of them here bantering back and forth-they both seem like they're having a great time. :)
Robert still sounds normal but his accent is actually a lot thicker than most Glasgwegian's today! Either that or I've been living in the alright part of the city for too long or i'm just not used to hearing it on tv. Craig is very Americanised.
Oh darn it! I thought they were going to be talking about his character in Once Upon a Time! He's awesome as Rumple... Mr. Gold! He is now one of my favorite actors... maybe it's because I love his accent! :D

Carlyle is so underrated.
Agreed

I love the way both Robert and Craig sound more and more Scottish as they go on.
Scottish accent is God's gift to mankind
It's definitely the coolest of accents.
Craig Ferguson + Scottish guests = Best Thing on Television.
Theomite what's Craig up to these days?

Carlyle is talking away and I'm just listening and smiling oh so big, my cheeks hurt. 😍 I love him!
Carlyle has a fantastic voice and knows how to use it. I wish he did audiobooks.

He seems very sweet. That hug at the beginning with Craig actually made me go, "Aw."

It’s my 3rd time binge watching all the seasons and I’m in tears with his acting 💗
You should see him as the character Begbie in Trainspotting & Trainspotting 2.
Love Robert Carlyle he's so eclectic. What a talent. Big love for him. Truly.
That accent is friggin priceless.
Hahaha so bad & I fuckin' love it!

I hope you've seen him in the Full Monty! Also some of his shows as "Hamish Macbeth" are on CZcams. They're fun too.
Is it just me, or did their accents get stronger as the interview went on? ;)

He's the best actor ever. I have not seen better.
Johnny Depp?

So true, he's fantastic. He completely is the reason I loved OUAT so much.
I'm Japanese with a Scottish upbringing and I honestly don't know anyone sexier than Robert Carlyle.
OMG, i love robert's accent, and to top it off he looks great!!!!
i love his voice
Craig Ferguson and Robert Carlyle. Yasssss. My favorite people
I love how cheerful Robert is.
"How old are your kids?"
"Three, five, and seven."
"That's... very regular of you."
:)
Robert Carlyle once was a lodger in my Great Auntie,s house in Glasgow when he was in acting school.
Robert Carlyle is really good ...
Pay attention, dearie.

I adore Hanish Macbeth, Wee Jock, TV John and the whole cast. Charming, touching, funny, revealing about our humanity.
My favorite show ever
He's a brilliant actor
When you talk to someone else with your home accent, yours becomes stronger. It happens to me when I go home.
Robert Carlyle was the only redeeming factor in Stargate Universe
I agree, he's the only reason I started watching it, and the only reason why I continued.
No love for Eli?
What a way to talk about the best TV show ever made.
i thought it was a good show but young was kind of a hard ass lol

" do you fancy a wee bit of square slice or something like that?"
There's no way anyone understood that.
I'm so glad I read this comment before watching interview :D
Eck square slice of sausage
His accent is so cool!!
He's all charm and biscuits here but he was scary as HELL in Trainspotting. Remember?

He's so Scottish.
He is right though, Robert has aged so gracefully
Robert Carlyle is a living legend
Lord have mercy long hair, a beard, tight jeans & a leather jacket. My poor heart...and other places

Robert: My kids are 3,5 and 7. Craig: That's very regular of you! (Everyone laughs) I LOVE that part...couldn't stop laughing myself.

Does anyone else remember his fantastic performance in "Riff Raff"?
Looking after JoJo was my favorite tv series of Roberts
Such a great actor. In SG-U he was the best actor. I like SG-U. He deserves to play in bigger Film Productions :)
i have the greatest memories of his show Hamish Macbeth!
"That's very regular of you!" lol :L Thanks for the great video!
I love the way they say 'aye' like pirates lol. :) Love scottish accents. It sounds very sexy and rugged in a Highlander sort of way. :)
He's a bit underused (in big movies) in the movie business. He's a good actor, especially in Trainspotting.
I saw it last year, it was amazing, what a great actor he is!!
