- I have no idea why Craig does that, interrupting guests when they try promoting their "projects", I mean, he understands that's why he has a job in the first place, yet...I don't know. I don't understand, as someone who has watched alot of this show I know Craig does this regularly. Enjoy!

This is 2009 and yet capaldi is dressed as the 12th doctor. He really is a time traveller
For real.
He's been the Doctor his whole life. They just finally made it official.
If you read Ferguson's autobiography, also came out before Capaldi was cast as The Doctor, he says Capaldi always had an otherworldly presence. It feels like he was meant to be the doctor from the start lol
It's like Moffat and company said we want the Doctor to be Peter Capaldi. Not Peter Capaldi should be the doctor. He is probably my favorite Doctor
The truth is, Peter wanted to play The Doctor since he was young. He's always been a fan of the show.
Love how Craig's scottish accent get stronger when he starts to talk to Peter
Yeah I’m a southern American but when I’m around my mother who is also Scottish she adapts to me talking or I sorta develop ab accent lol it’s weird how the voice works.
the same happened when he talked with David Tennant lmao
@@jeanarlert31 and Billy Connolly
Holy shit! I just watched this and didn't notice that until I saw your comment.
Peter seemed to have a stronger accent than usual during this interview. He didn't have this strong of one while doing Doctor Who.
I love how they are just old friends pretending to be normal
Everyone that meets up with a person they took acid with in the past is pretending to be normal 😆
Loved that he was having a bad trip and went to Craig for help....and found him tripping too
I can vouch that this happens a lot when your friends go through a dropping acid phase
"Are you still married to Elaine?"
"They don't know who Elaine is either! She's a wonderful, wonderful-"
"They're probably smart enough to have figure out that Elaine is your *wife*, Pete!"
These two are gold
I love that as soon as someone, (or himself), mentions his wife, Peter goes full Gomez Addams about her.
I think interrupting guests who are trying to plug things was a part of Craig's rebellion against the late night format. He was trying to make his interactions with guests more human.
That and also his whole bit was that this was a show in the middle of the night that nobody was watching...the majority of America was asleep and Craig characterized his audience as insomniacs, burnouts, addicts, unemployed, anyone on the fringes of society. The joke was that his show was useless for advertising and it was a waste of their time to even try to promote anything on this show. As far as Craig was concerned they were screaming into the void.
@@dlh7989so funny how after that he's still held as one of the best late night hosts to do it (usually ya hear the list go carson, letterman and ferguson or conan taking third)
What Craig says about Peter Capaldi in his book makes him sound like the nicest guy.
Peter "I-can't-sing-and-I'm-not-musical." Capaldi has just released an album!
I know I'm like 4-5 years late with commenting, but this interview is absolutely great because you can feel the history between them. It's like when I meet friends that I grew up with: They make you laugh like no one else can.
Agree! I come to watch this every so often because, well, I love both of them and I love Scottish people/things in general, but also because I adore the chemistry between them. It feels like they haven't kept closely in touch but when they do get together they just reminisce about the old days and, as you said, laugh and laugh like they were youngsters again. I love that feeling myself.
You can tell they're close pals..the chemistry between them is great👍
Capaldi keeps trying to bring the audience into the conversation and Craig is like "nah screw em". :D
What's funny is Jenna Coleman does the same thing when she visited. I think it's a British "oh shit there's lots of quiet yanks" out there thing.
And that's why we love Craig 😂
Craig didn't care about the "late night format". He just wanted to have a real conversation with his guests and friends, format be damned.
I never get tired of this interview. The genuine chemistry between them. Capaldi is my ideal husband 😅
I really shouldn't fancy a guy forty years my senior but here we go 😂
Imagine being in a band with the best doctor
I don't think Colin Baker plays any instruments though.
@@joansmith69 I think you mean David Tennant
Too bad Capaldi didn't appear on the show after he became the Doctor.
If you like Peter Capaldi, then go look up the Scottish film "Local Hero". Its a charmer also featuring Burt Lancaster. Lovely film.
Picking it up during the next Criterion sale. I'm looking forward to finally seeing it. Denis Lawson aka Wedge from Star Wars is also in it.
A great film. Hard to classify but thought provoking and lovely to look at.
My favorite movie. So much to see in that film.
Oh yes.
Peter Capaldi's first film, so we have Local Hero to thank for everything he has done since then.
Aaand music by Mark Knopfler to boot - it was actually also his first soundtrack, so everyone who loves Princess Bride actually also has Local Hero to thank for the existence of the Princess Bride soundtrack. 😊
I love that film. My family on my dads side is from Scotland (Glasgow)Mmy cousin was friends with the character who rode the motorcycle throughout the movie. Ill have to revisit that.
"I was hoping for minimalism, but I think I came out with magician."
it would have be hilarious if the master was craig ferguson during the capaldi run lol two ranting scots, but we still got gomez and she was just as amazing
Well Gomez is Scottish as well. :-)
I miss Craig Ferguson. He was so great on this show.
In the loop was bloody hilarious, and the thick of it is the funniest show that has ever been
Lulz in the thick of it😂
Classic show
The clip from the film they cut is Capaldi saying “you’re about as useful as a marzipan dildo.” Classic
Capaldi is considered the "old" Doctor of the modern era but just a few years earlier he was still looking just about middle aged. Craig jokes about being too old to drum, ironic that now probably the average rock and roll band is older than he was then.
That is such a mood, you trip acid one time and then the rest of your life you're not sure if you ever left the acid trip... hilarious, yet scarily accurate! 🤣🤣😂😂
He even had a magician jacket on
weird to say but it may be coincidental that the lining of his jacket kinda looks like the 3rd incarnation of the Doctor, Jon Pertwee. Peter Capaldi even has the same type of look as well!💥
Ro G actually it wasn't the first Doctor. It was the third.
@@willhorting5317 you are right. It was Jon Pertwee. Duh....TY for pointing that out. I fixed it.
Ro G not a problem. Hahaha 😄
Still can’t believe & get my head around that peter capaldi has actually took acid never knew he had a wild streak of that caliber... well you learn something new everyday
Taking acid isn’t particularly wild
taking acid isn’t wild
Wait til you hear what The Master (John Simm) got up to in his wild years
Omg this is the best timing
A week too late or 5 months too early
I think it's on purpose, since the 13th Doctor was revealed, today. :P
I love them both so much! I wish Peter could have come on when he was the Doctor.. Craig would have gone bonkers. ❤😂
This warmed my fucking heart.
I love how comfortable they are with each other haha!! Peter is cracking me up! 😆
This is the most wonderfully Scottish thing ever ❤
It sucks that Craig couldn't do a Doctor Who episode while Peter was 12.
The fucking field day they would've had with Doctor Who
I wish he had been on more.
So funny to think Capaldi has no idea what's ahead of him.
It's a shame Craig never went on the Dr. Who, they look like they have so much fun together
It's too bad Craig wasn't able to have him on again.
Maybe he'll do his radio show eventually!
When Peter was announced as the 12th Doctor, I was sure he would be a guest a few times but no go. Maybe because in 2014 he was ramping up as the Doctor while Craig was winding down on Late Late.
Agreed.
@@dlxmarks I was wondering if maybe Craig was off the air by the time of the announcement? I can't imagine why else he wouldn't have been on. Craig loves Doctor Who so much AND he has a personal connection with Peter Capaldi, it would have been perfect!
@@sally-annecleveland6425 Capaldi was announced as the 12th Doctor on August 4, 2013 and his first full episode aired the next year on August 23, 2014. Craig announced he was leaving _The Late Late Show_ on April 28, 2014 and his last one went out December 19, 2014. So there was some overlap but probably their production schedules conflicted.
Protect these two at all cost
Michael Sheen made a lot of appearances on Craig's show to promote his projects, and they looked like they were having a ball, so maybe Michael wasn't too worried about Craig's behavior.
Wow~~ It's really nice to see Craig reunite with an old friend and see that genuine friendship they have :)
I'm glad Craig was on in my young adult years, just the kind of wit and humor I needed
It is tragic that Craig never got to interview Peter while he was Doctor Who.
Just finishing up Craig's book right now. It's a terrific read! Love him to bits...
The magician jokes are so much funnier after Doctor Who
Priceless
And too short
Man, imagine dropping acid with your bandmate in your 20s and not knowing that you both will become big media celebrities in 25 years.
Honestly the best late night interview i've ever seen. they are just joking with each other, remembering the stories and laughing like two old friends. i have no idea what they are promoting but im having the best time of my life
Imagine Craig showed up on Doctor Who as an old Timelord friend.
Would’ve been wonderful if Craig had appeared in capaldis run as the doctor.
One of the stars of my favorite film ever
Iconic duo!
I loved the mind freak that Craig had at the end of his introduction. Especially since I had just watched "Last Christmas", Peter Capaldi's first Christmas special as the Twelfth Doctor. Perfect!
yes. they're most definitely still tripping
The greatest crime of television was Craig losing this show before Peter became the Doctor. He must have been SO FUCKING PROUD. ❤🥲
"maybe we are just on a trip"
bruh that's the dream
Theyre almost like brothers.
So you can say he looked into the time vortex.
@1:07 That suit was very foreboding of the Twelfth Doctor's initial suit.
god its so awesome to see them reminiscing about their past together, seeing how far they've come in their own right. Capaldi was incredible in amazing british show The thick of it (which the movie he is promoting is a sequel of sorts).
This is such a sick interview 😂
I love seeing this ❤ So good to see old friends chatting
omg capaldi with the colourful jacket lining
Crazy Scots!!! I love them!!!!
Is it just me, or do I get a "Bowie vibe" from Capaldi?
I never quite "got" what it was about David Bowie that drove people to him when he was alive.
I watched Labyrinth not that long ago when it was released in a deluxe Blu ray release. It had been decades since I watched it.
NOW, I kind of "get it."
The magician joke Craig said when Peter first came out! They used that same joke in Doctor Who. Amazing.
My first experience with Craig was his Bing Hitler character
"... and , Glasgow keeps me warm ..."
A film about a hairdresser. The Big Tease?
yes that was it. Doc Martin. Saving Grace? - Craig
Local Hero Lair of the white worm - Peter
You can see these two are old friends, who genuinely care for each other, even through the show biz bluster.
Two legit friends
They look like they’re still tripping 😂
God, I miss this show.
One Toe Pete sounds like a weird (and possibly illegal) sex move.
they could be brothers!
Hope we get more episodes of him as Seamus in big mouth when I first heard his voice well I knew who he was lol but since my mom is also Scottish I didn’t need subtitles to understand what he was saying lol. She’s from Glasgow been in the USA since the 70’s and she came here to the state of South Carolina and has been since the 70s she is a police woman and a dang good one too? People always ask me how I understand the Scottish accent so well then they hear my mother talk she says “aye lassie I need you to do this for me okay I’ll be back later.” Meaning your doing it even if you’ve got broken legs lol. I never had one (knock wood) a broken bone? But means get up and do as she says or there we’ll be h**l to pay lol.
He does look like a magician
I can't believe Craig went on to me Doctor Who
@3:45 "Clutching onto the Earth, ...using only ONE toe!"
They look like they could be brothers!
"I didn't know you became a magician?" Not a magician, a Doctor!
I have bad maths and just worked.out this was 14 years ago! No wonder Peter looks so good!
Hey look Peter is wearing part of his 12th costume Before he was the Doctor-- or did he already know? 🤔 ♥ ♥ only Craig didn't know yet or he'd be freaking out
That really would be some time travelling since In the Loop was released the year Tenant was doing his specials. But hey, if anyone can do it it's the Doctor 😁
6:25 Listen to it closely and watch the video, you can tell he said "Alistair Campbell" and they had to cut it. Especially the "bell" part
You would be lucky to see two Scots on an American late night talk show. Only to be replaced by an english lad shortly therafter. ITS NOT FAIR
You should watch the Craig Ferguson and David Tennant episode!! It’s wonderful haha!
Magnificent god of Doctors, who persist eternal
in the loop is worth a watch! funny as fuck
Gotta love that he never did get to name the movie.
they even kinda look alike
They could be brothers… there is a resemblance
the same accent~~~~
The future Doctor on Doctor Who meets the past Confidence from Red Dwarf. Let's get the band back together...
Capaldi kinda looks like him, only paler and squished thinner. Long lost bros? 🤔
The legs of those pants are so wide
Peter is my 2nd cousin, once removed.
is it sad that they favor each other?
I miss Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show.
Why is this his only visit :😢😢😢
He couldn’t sing but his son can
If these two remember taking Acid, then they didn't take Acid.
craigs a fud
Capaldi can't escape the Magician look xD
"What am I doing here?"
"You're promoting the film!"
