    There are several other dyno videos showing 5-10HP from charcoal filter removal. There is more to an intake than just slapping a filter on a tube. Intake resonators that tune vibrations and harmonics are a real thing.

      Tested with OEM filter, high flow filter and removed the filter altogether. You’d think if the air box was a restriction you’d see something. However if you wait a few hrs between pulls the first pull will generally read highest. So when you’re talking about a few hp you have to be pretty methodical.

    You should try the charcoal delete, i have seen this subarus getting up 10hp only by the charcoal delete... you can say that the "conic" air filter does not have any charcoal delete, but i really think that the stock airbox is a lot better than a conic filter on a stock engine aplication...

    Since my tuner said "lack of oxygen" was holding me back (from more than the 226 corrected HP) I'm working on getting cool air in without using a snorkel from the radiator area (and blocking some of the radiator). I have a 3" aluminum tube going from the box/MAF to the throttle body. I will insulate the tubing. I already have gold reflective tape on the box.
    I have cut a rectangular hole in the fascia so air can go straight into the airbox through a fabricated rectangular tube.

      More air, cold air, always helps. Engine is an air pump. Making flow in and out as efficient as possible is key.

  • @Treaxvour
    @Treaxvour Před rokem +1

    You still have the accordion intake tube. Gotta get a smooth one. Then the real purpose of an intake will show, which is throttle response. Not horse power or air flow. Along with a throttle body port, it's worth it to me

  • @mituc
    @mituc Před rokem +1

    Well, the air filter restriction is not really a problem for pretty much all modern engines. So the power/torque gain from intakes comes a lot more from having the air flow in more efficiently and not carry up heat with them from other sub-systems (manifolds, even the engine bay itself is a pretty warm region compared to where the air feeds of the OEM-like intakes take the air from). So larger open-filter intakes may gain sense when the power output is increased by a lot or some specific goal is on the list (sound).

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  Před rokem +2

      Some intake manufactures on MAF based cars also play a little with MAF housing size to adjust what the ECU is seeing, read less airflow and gain a bit from this ECU reading offset.

  • @MR3DDev
    @MR3DDev Před rokem

    What is that carbon doing and why is it tied to compliance? Is on the intake so it is taking air out of the environment, not exhaust, I don't understand the reason of carbon before the engine, there is nothing to clean on the intake.
