    Another Englishman here, first heard this watching the footage of the Hibs fans after the cup final, it was the best rendition of a song by football fans I’d ever seen, I had goosebumps.
    Have looked up the song since watching the Proclaimers footage,an absolutely beautiful song, which I admit brings tears to my eyes.
    Doesn’t matter what nationality you are this is a song for everyone.

      Your story is my story! A Scot friend of mine played me the video of that footballing occasion and when they sang this at th3 end , ha£ me in tears. Pure emotion dragged up from deep inside of me. I couldn’t and can’t explain it even after all these years.

    Played at my brother’s funeral. He was a huge fan of the Proclaimers and this was his favourite song. Tears streaming but happy tears for the times we had together.❤️

    I lost my best friend last year, he was a Celtic fan and 5 of us wore the shirts to his funeral to say thank you for your life. You were tough Scotty and I miss you brother, I listen to this song and think of you.

    I might not be Scottish, (I'm Venezuelan) but I LOVE this song! I heard it for first time in Peru Lima when the Scottish national team came for the match Peru vs Scotland. I went to an Irish bar and they were there and played this beautiful song! I even made some Scottish friends! Sending love from Venezuela!

    Every time I hear this song I cry. I'm an old man well into my 60s and I've spent my life down here in the RBK&C, London. Yet every ruddy time I hear this beautiful, enchanting song, it touches my very soul and allows me to weep. Something I never did until this wonderful song came along.       But don't have to be a Hibees fan to love this song!!
      I'm from Dundee, just up the road from Leith, and a Dee till I die!!
      But all nationalities around the world will, and do, love this lovely Scottish balad!!
      So proud to come from this little country they call Scotland!!

    Hibs fans must feel blessed , having One of the best Scottish bands and song ever as their anthem. I'm a Celtic fan and for sentimental reasons, my father was dying and couldn't get back to Scotland till the next day so spent the night before listening to the album in tears. I love it.

      @@Fowksee Exactly man, I'm an Irish Celtic fan and saw the Proclaimers in Belfast about a year ago. When this started playing, I couldn't help but sing along. Its empowering, uplifting, emotional, almost transcendent. It may be a Hibs song, okay, but music crosses all types of borders and rivalries.

    Born in Leith in bowling green St (no longer there) in 1942 and lived there for 14yrs then moved to Manchester. My grandparents lived in Constitution Street. My dad went to Leith academy and my granddad worked in the offices at Leith docks.

    This is one of my lovely sister's favourite songs and she took me to see The Proclaimers as a surprise. We are both Edinburgh girls and although we left Scotland when we were children to follow my father's career, it's still home to me and I'm going back someday. x

    Walking across an empty York racecourse a year or so ago the staff were testing the public address system / tannoy. They played this wonderful piece of music. I was there being carried away on a beautiful wave of Sunshine on Leith.
    A lifelong memory.

    I first heard this in my fathers best friends funeral , this song is awesome , it epitomises that man . Was an honour to carry his coffin. RIP

    Brought up in Leith and it wasn't always sunny. We had very little money and the streets were not always safe but I was fed, clothed and had lots of love so I remember it fondly.

    As a Celtic fan we sing many great songs but I am jealous of Hibernian for having this song. One of the best sounds at a football ground is hearing this being sung at full voice by the Hibees fans.

    Thanks to Children in Need 2021 I have just been introduced to this song. What a beautiful and emotional song. The lyrics are so poignant. Just thinking of all the love ones I've lost 🙏🏽❤️

    This is now a song I want playing when they carry me out. My dad loved this song, we didn't play it at his funeral, as my " family " didn't know it, my dad loved this song.

    I was born in Scotland to a Scottish father and English Mother whilst they were visiting my Dads family but was raised my entire life in England.... So it’s fair to say I’ve always struggled with my identity a bit!! 😂😂
    It matters not when you listen to such a beautiful and emotional song.... Only music can bring people together like this!

      I’m the same mate. My dad was Scottish my mum was from Belfast and I was born in the East end of London. My identity is all over the place!! Think it’s safe to say my blood is Celtic tho.

    There are no words to describe just how beautiful this Hibee's anthem is. Saw them play this live 3 days ago in Solihull and it seemed like the whole crowd sang along with every word. Much admiration from this Man United supporter!!
