- This video used to be widely available on CZcams but for some reason it seems to be removed completely. It took me a little time to track it down from another source but here it is. So, let's see how long it takes the BBC Nazis to jump on this and have it removed on copyright grounds! It's evidently fair use......it's Margo's funeral for crying out loud!
One of the greatest songs of all time. Always get me.
I defy anyone to listen to this, in this context, and not be moved by it.
Thanks for re-posting it, it's truly beautiful.
It really makes no difference where or to whom these guys perform, they’ll always give a performance that sends shivers 💫
Brilliant . Craig and Charlie always deliver . Their harmonising is up there with The Everly Brothers and Simon & Garfunkel , in my opinion .
You are 100% correct.
National treasures x
For Fifers
Agreed absolutely brilliant 👏
Only 500 miles was played on the radio in my country (Costa Rica). This one never, and this one is fantastic. Sung in Scottish accent, very emotive and just a beautiful song happy/sad song. Visiting Scotland is still on my bucket list. Love your whisky, your accents and dialects... and yes even the rainy cold weather.
Not sure you’d like the cold rainy weather whilst walking In Edinburgh. Brrrr!
@@columbus7950 I lived in Sweden for a couple of decades. Scotland's cold weather would be just fine for me :)
Such a talented pair and so glad they represent Scotland so well in their music 👍👏
The whole performance is stunningly beautiful and the violin section is profoundly moving.
Great tribute R.I.P. Margo
Brilliant song and great tribute to a wonderful lady. The harmonies and the violin are so haunting.
Margo was a joy to everyone friends an political enemies, been a few years since she passed still miss her honesty.
Someone you could trust.
Don't get that anymore.
She was there to help people.
Improve life's, fight injustice.
Not to feather her bed
It'll take a special person to take her out my mind as a person for the people..
Never happen not these days.
No party looks after the people.
I was 16 when I 1st saw her on TV anhilate a government minister. But she spoke the truth, an always did.
Youll never go wrong if you say it as you see it
I remember back then when she made her first impressions on the UK political scene and the UK papers and the radio and TV tried to talk her down by calling her "the blond bombshell", as if hair colour had anything to do with it. Maggie Thatcher was blond too, but she was a Tory and had been to Oxford
It was the usual tactic of trying to discredit political ideas by making fun of them. Margo MacDonald was just as important politically as Wendy Wood.
And it's good to see that Craig and Charlie have always stuck to their own principles as well.
lovely tribute to a lovely lady.
An incredibly beautiful song
This brings tears to my eyes , thank you X
Wow , thankyou proclaimers. First time I have seen this . What a beautiful tribute, for a beautiful lady.
And loved seeing you in Edinburgh . It was the best show I've ever seen.
Brilliant. She must have been one very special person to deserve a send off like that. One of the best posts on you tube that I have stumbled across.thanks
RIP Margo x
So moving, stops me in my tracks, and spirits me away to a better place, love it 😊
Absolutely beautiful... Thank you for uploading this.
These two men have such beautiful voices. They make me cry.
Margo was a titan of Scottish pollitics, an incredible woman who will always be an inspiration. RIP
How touching, that's such a lovely song.
I love the proclaimers and this song is fantastic
Hi have no connection with their possible politics or religious beliefs what so ever but this song is one of the greatest folk/rock ballads ever written. It Transends everything. It makes people, people, regardless. Its pure and absolute genius and is helping me no end at the moment which is what music should do. Thankyou
So beautiful! This was sent to me today from my dear Scottish best friend for my birthday and it brought me so much tears of joy and love. God bless you all! Thank you 🥰😇💕
Such a pleasure growing up listening to their beautiful music
And sunshine on leath is such a beautifully written song
But I got a lump in my throat when The Hib fans sung their hearts out to this song.
Long live the proclaimers
The Proclaimers make me want to be Scottish. One of the best bands (duets) to come out of the UK never mind just bonnie Scotland.
Scottish, not UK or British, she would disagree with you lol
Move to Scotland and you'll be a New Scot from day 1 🏴
@@garryreise3995Scotland is in the UK.
Wonderful, full of emotion.
A Beautiful song sung by Beautiful people ❤
a beautiful song.. always makes me cry
Thanks for sharing
That's respect 💙
No words would give this justice
Love Love love ❤ your music 🎶 that's one of my favourite songs ever Thank you 😊 ❤
Great band. Seen them live a good few times. They must be really chuffed as Hibs fans that they wrote their club anthem. What a song! Bitter and sweet.
these lads are far better than i realised, the harmonising was superb and the sincerity immense, such a novelty amongst politicians surely
Margo was a true humanitarian and too good for this mob but this song?! Special and stunning. The Chief will decide.x
The Scots are so good at writing songs that become anthems and so good at singing them...Slainte Mhath!
Love the proclaimers music fantastic and you now every word that they singing 🎶 ❤
I love these guys. They had the balls to sing in their own dialect.
Thanks
Love you guys ❤
Shoulda sung "Cap in hand" to those Tories sitting there.
Class, that's all I can say
i am having this at my funeral so touching
This must have been so hard for them ❤️
Sounded as perfect as a studio recording.
Hail hail
❤️ The Proclaimers ❤️
No matter how often I watch this, still gets me in the heart. Margo was an amazing woman and these people were not fit to shine her shoes and they knew it. It's instructive looking at their faces now. What a song boys!
Celts are the best ,❤Dublin/ Scotland
Einfach. Und so gut!;;
W0W, love to hear a Scottish accent sing
fantastic!!!!!
Class
Well done boys and god bless ye Margo x
One of the best showes Penrith Panthers in OZ also a Hibs supporter
Keith, are you the same Keith Boyd who lived in New Haven, CT. as a child?
Sorry for the late reply. Only just noticed your comment. No, I'm not the person you mentioned. I've lived in Scotland my whole life.
Love them!! What are their names,,first and last
The Proclaimers are Craig and Charlie 😊
This could only happen in the Scottish Parliament.
How on earth can the audience sit there like stuffed dummies and then politely clap when that is being sung! Did Nichola Sturgeon say they weren’t allowed to show emotions???
They're rapt, not bored.
Show some respect.
Projecting your expectations onto strangers, imagining you know the thoughts of others by their mere appearances...these weaknesses will disappear as you age and come to know the troubles of others by living those troubles yourself. Do not mistake the inner life for its outward expression.
It’s part of their funeral arrangements. They are being remembered by all of their friends and colleagues. We don’t dance at these types of services. We just remember.
Why isn;t everyone in the crowd standing up in awe? Have they no Feelings? Sorry for my bad english(scottish)! I,m Swedish!
This was not a concert. It was a tribute ceremony on the occasion of the funeral of a well-known Scottish politician, Margo MacDonald, who just happened also to be Craig Reid's mother-in-law.
And you pay for a TV license - so moving x
Who pays for a TV licence? Not me. 😂
Why was the Jambo Salmond joining in? God bless Margo
Because he is a decent human being and a nationalist the same as Margo. Some things are more important than fitbaw pal 🏴👍🏻
He was " joining in "because the occasion , and the music transcended division....
Always liked Margo , but hate the way SNP is now God help Scotland blessing to you
Belt up ya deluded unionist Arse-Hole
No offence but Scotland sold itself in 1707.a great country but historically face up to who you are.
The Scottish Lords were bribed by the King with huge swathes of land in England to get them to approve the Act of Union. So, the few took bribes to make a decision that the many had no say in. You're entitled to your opinion of course but, the devil's in the details.
