Bob Odenkirk plays the role of Deputy Bill Oswalt in the new Fargo TV series. He speaks about his character with City Calgary’s Jill Belland. The show debuts on FXX on Apr. 15.
Bob Odenkirk is such a gifted actor. To play a role like Bill Oswalt with such balance, not being afraid to let Bill's quirks or idiosyncrasies come through but never tipping him into parody, that takes some doing. When you take the performance of Bill Oswalt in the context of being bookended by one of TV's greatest ever attorneys, it's like sleight of hand.
Refreshing to see that you really understood your character Bob - he wasn't particularly thick, just limited by his need to believe in the good in people. Molly had a similar conversation with Gus at one point, he also wanted to believe that the world is a nicer place than it really is, Molly wasn't limited by that way of thinking. The story was brilliant, the writing was brilliant, and the acting was brilliant. TV is so much better than films these days.
where was this shot, the lunch room? step it up...she is not dressed for this room. find a nice door to stand next to...this is hollywood? lets you know where the brains are...not with the personalities!
Actually, it's not Hollywood. Fargo was shot in Canada, and this interview is being done on set by CityTV. This has been their shooting style for years. And if you were as smart as you think you are, you'd realize that this is raw footage.
Great actor... so different roles in Fargo and Breaking Bad. He nailed both!
Probably nailed the interviewer as well after the interview

I love Bob’s “Bad things happen” face.
Not a bad list of dramas to have on your CV Mr Odenkirk
My 3 favourite series in recent years - and you are in them all !!!

He's picked up on it... I figure that he is where he wants to be.

I think Bob Odenkirk should play Bill O'Reilly in a film.
That is a good call...
