    SQL box build for a nakamichi 15" NSX subwoofer. rated at 1850 watts rms with a 4" aluminium voice coil.
    enclosure is sealed with a VAS of .7 (I think, anyway..) perfect for sound quality, but still gets loud.
    sounds super clear and clean in person.
    built with minimal basic tools, you don't need a professional shop to build a lot of things.
    underpowered with an alpine pdx 1.1000 amplifier, giving the sub just over half its rated power. would definitely come alive with a much bigger amp.

    I was very surprised to see a Nakamichi sub... I'm currently building my first ever sub box for a 12 inch nakamichi sub

      Thank you sir! Very simple, but wedges perfectly behind the back seat to make it look smaller than it is

    Thank you for sharing this build. How do you set up your cuts to get good straight lines with a circular saw?

    • @nicke1370
      @nicke1370  Před 29 dny +1

      @CheekyAquarius many ways, but the way I do it is by measuring the distance from the edge of the baseplate to the saw blade. You could get a scrap bit of timber, clamp a straight edge to it, and do a quick cut - then measure the distance from the cut edge to the fence.. this will be how far you set up the fence from where you need to cut (accounting for blade thickness too).
      Alternatively, I made a jig by screwing a straight edged offcut to a bigger bit of timber, then completing a cut using the screwed on fence. This gives me a template with a straight edge I can line up with any line I want to cut along. There's a few videos on CZcams explaining how to make a jig easier.

    I think this guy has done this once before. Sealed is better for listing to different types of music. Not everyone likes or needs to just play a small spectrum of bass frequency very loud. Every box type has its place. And it takes power to make….power. Upgrade your electrical people.

      Only a few times but I've used each one as a learning curve. This subs specs made it best suited for a sealed enclosures, and it really paid off in this instance. I don't have a whole lot of money for the hobby, hence why it's 'only' on 1000 watts. Voltage drop is minimal, so I'm confident it's not too much strain on the electricals.
      I agree with everything you said :) thanks for the comment

    Would this box design be any good for a 15,000w subwoofer?

    • @nicke1370
      @nicke1370  Před rokem

      15,000w rms? No. Most likely not. Each heavy duty sub usually needs their own kind of enclosure to work best. The t/s parameters of this sub say this one would work great in a sealed enclosure, so that's why I built this one
