- In today's episode we're in Nashville, TN for a spicy ramen challenge so brutally spicy, over 300 people have failed to finish it...
Shokku Ramen's 'Shinigami Challenge' consists of one huge bowl of ramen noodles, topped with fried chicken, char sui pork, eggs and a bunch of other toppings. If it wasn't tough enough to finish all that inside eight minutes already, then dousing it all in broth measuring 4,000,000 SHU should do it. Fail and it costs $50. Win and you get the meal free and a spot on their 'Wall of Warriors'.

Yeah, this bowl wasn’t super…
It’s been a while since I did a spicy challenge, so when I heard the spiciest bowl of ramen in America was only a few miles down the road in Nashville, I thought I’d give it the old college try.
I hope you enjoy it and I’ll catch you next Sunday for the next episode…which has nothing spicy in it whatsoever…just the way I likes it!
Oh, and if you’re watching the game tonight, do me proud…dessert menu…bare minimum ;)
Sounds good to me still lol aside from the Noodles I've no actually had proper ramen yet
One day
Valiant Effort
Brave effort Beard!
Beard you reliable northern sausage, never fail to make us all smile on a Sunday evening
Hello mate. 👋
I really don't see how anyone could complete that challenge in under 8 minutes. 20 minutes would probably be impossible for 99% of people.
Should be 10 mins.
@@wmoule You don't set a time limit for pros. You set it for the average bloke who you know won't win, not because of the time limit, but because of capacity or other issues. 10 minutes is still too short for that.
So you say there is a chance.
You’re going to get some *spoiler alert* comments…you can see yours without even clicking onto the comments
it's doable for someone who has incredibly high spice tolerance...there's a lady in the uk who goes by the name UK Chilli Queen...reckon she could do it, if she could take the volume of food in that time...spice this harsh just prevents me from eating almost entirely...it was bad enough with the things on top that had just slightly touched the broth....the noodles and the broth itself were pure brimstone lol
That time limit is absolutely absurd. They know it's absurd. I don't like to call things "impossible" very often but this is indeed that.
Most owners are convinced that nobody is ever going to beat their challenge anyway.. This is the one guys who has an "truly unbeatable challenge" (until proven wrong) for the best eaters. And he is not deceiving the challengers or lying to them. I can't be mad at that, ever. Finally one real challenge for people who can eat anything! And he's honest and transparent about it?! 💯 Awesome!
@@baldbearded9601 beard came pretty close and hes one of the best but THE best few can eat way more and faster not to diminish his achievements it's very impressive but I think he last ranked competitively in the world. Also he has done similar portions in this time that wasnt spicy. So a competitive eater with a higher tolerance to the heat could do it
@@jasonpreston2703 100% agree. It's well known Adam isn't a fan of spicy food on top of it. I feel like Joel Hansen could do a 3lbs scorching hot challenge in 8 minutes.. he can handle spice and eats like an animal
Should be 20 minutes at least. The Spiciness will slow people down, so making it 8 minutes is complete BS.
@@baldbearded9601 L take, honestly. it's meant to be a challenge, the time limit is really just disgustingly short, i think 12 minutes would be fair, a little extra time considering the portion and spice level, if it was just an extra spicy tonkotsu ramen i'd say 7 minutes or less would be good, but with this, it's downright unfair. And anywhere offering challenges should have it be at least achievable in some way otherwise it's just a scam
Even with a non-spicy bowl, 8 minutes to eat 3lbs of ramen is an utter joke.
8 minutes is crazy.
That challenge cannot be done at all in 8 min. They are having fun knowing no one will ever do it. Great try Beard!
It's doable
@@savagegamer1681then why hasn’t anyone ever done it?
These guys are collecting 50$ from each sucker tbh.
To be honest the food seems possible but that time limit is the definition of set-up to fail.
agreed. they need to up it to at least fifteen minutes, give the blokes a fighting chance!
100% with you on that 8 min is way to short
it's not the time in my opinion...this is a similar amount of food to the one i did in canada not long back actually...the difference being that was just unpleasantly spicy...this for me was impossibly hot....4 million shu is no joke haha
It's not possible for the simple fact is you're not supposed to have alot food when it comes to a spice challenge
@@Beardmeatsfood I dont think theres anyone that exists that has that level of spice tolerance AND can eat that amount of food in 8 minutes.
Even if it wasn’t spicy, finishing that much food in only 8 minutes would be really challenging. I wouldn’t be surprised if this never gets beaten.
100% it's never getting beaten. It's a scam challenge
@@VaoDxArchAngel That's why there are back there giggling like two fkn six year old's that peed in someone's iced tea.
A challenge with rules pointed out before beginning it is hardly a scam. 4mil ScV is no joke and anyone who's up for that kinda challenge knows it. @@VaoDxArchAngel+ He got pretty close!
@@VaoDxArchAngel It's not a scam. You have all the information, you get to know all the risks involved. There is no hidden premise, no deception. @@dinfernosev Very strong argument. I give actual reasons and you say "nah". You should become a politician.
8 minutes is ridiculous, you should have skipped this one buddy
Why? It's a challenge and he wanted to try it. Thats what he does.

This is the first one I've watched that i actively was rooting for you.
I've never doubted you before.
That will never be beaten
The staff in the background were smiling the whole time. They knew that this is 99.9% impossible
It's kind of slimy, in the end, to just make money off this unfair challenge. Kind of greedy, in my opinion. At least extend the time, so it's doable for someone with great stamina in handling so much spicy food. It's not like the bowl has so much pricy content. The $50 price point is way out of line for this kind of thing. It's mostly broth and cheap noodles.
@@joeidaho5938 Everyone knows going in what it costs and what it entails. That's what makes it fair.
@@mitherapeuticmassage Everyone knowing....does not necessarily mean it's fair. It just means that everyone knows in advance....lol. Seems like too much of a money grab to me, rather than a challenge that can actually be beaten by a few people with real fortitude...like our man Beard. @@joeidaho5938 but at the same time they're not forced to try it. people see the price tag, they know what food they're getting, and they know how much time they have. it is fair because even after knowing all that and someone still wants to attempt it, then it's on them.

I agree, he should book in using another name so they don't over load the plate because they know of him.
At least the other chef reduced his challenge size of the potatoes cause of the backlash, hopefully this one follows suit
It is impossible, the whole concept of challenge is set up so you fail. 100%

I feel the same - I would question how many people could finish this without any spice - 8 minutes is such a short time for a slippery and messy dish. This seems to be a challenge intended to be impossible rather than extremely difficult.
I thought the same. I'd say 10 would be pretty fair. The heat alone would knock out most people.
@@EatMyShortsAU that's where you have to have God mode on.
This challenge really is stupid ... on the part of that restaurant; if you can't do it in 8 min, it can't be done. The thing about Asian places is that they sometimes have such stupidly unrealistic standards. These guys are clearly clueless when it comes to challenges. if 300 people including you have failed at it, this isn't a problem with people's ability to do it, it is obviously a problem with the challenge and the people who issue it. Hopefully this video shows how unrealistic these people and this challenge at this restaurant really is.
That has to be the funniest one yet, from the guys behind the bar pissing themselves after 2 minutes and then when you shouted "Its in my eye!!" I just lost it. Brilliant. :D

When I saw 4 Million scoville units I thought you're in for a brutal day, no way. Then they said to do it in 8 minutes??? This challenge is pure insanity.
Pure capsaicin is 16mil. Pepper spray is usually around 2 million. One of the hottest natural hot sauces (the Last Dab) is around 1-2 million scoville. There's no way that this ramen is even close to 4 million. That would literally mean, that 1/4 of the volume of that ramen is pure capsaicin.
yeah that time limit is nuts. 3 lbs in 8 minutes would be difficult for the average joe anyway, let alone with it being so freaking hot. they were very good about everything, but i just feel like it's a cheap trick to get people in the door without it really being possible.
@@LordBhorak my thoughts exactly. 4M scoville is pretty much now viable at this quantities. Think about how much that would even cost. There's this hot sauce MadDog 44 Magnum rated at 4 million scoville. It's $47 per 1.7 fl oz. If only the 36 oz broth was made of ~21 bottles of the Mad Dog, the dish would already scratch $1000 per serving. Pure capsaicin extracts are even more expensive. I found an offer of 1.7ml (~0.0575 fl oz.) for $39 (or $25 at sale right now). To spice 36 oz of broth up to 4 M scoville one would need 157 such bottles, that's way over $6000 for one bowl of broth alone.
And money aside - I don't think it would be possible to breathe in a room where 36 oz of 4M scoville beverage was warmed up.
@@LordBhorakyou do know there are high Scoville chili extracts right. They probably just made it with that lol.

This is one that I don’t think is possible for anyone. Just the amount of food without the spice seems just about impossible!
Easy for extreme food challenge eaters, not easy for you, i guarantee you cant even eat 2 packs of top ramen at once lol
@chink exterminator Very true if it had a sweet sauce very doable and fast.
I prefer cold and sweet ❄️👌 too hot and spicy 🔥

@chink exterminator 8 lb ice cream challenge that would be fun and easy for him
@chink exterminator for who?? randy the lovehandle santel?
Cheers! Beard meets spice! Big up!
As someone who's never done a huge food challenge before, but has done a few spicy challenges.. You gotta just get through the first few bites and then live in the heat. Nothing you can do will help. Just keep eating.
Top marks for effort Adam. You certainly went for it. Clearly that challenge is designed to never be beaten.
I do appreciate seeing the failures along with the successes, we're along for the ride with you and it brings a sense of reality and perspective to what you do. love you videos man, keep it up.
The "no" of defeat when he realized the spice 😂
I was cheering you on from the sanctity of my home! 😭👍🏾
I couldn’t stop laughing! When he blew on the noodles to cool them down???!!!!!😂😂😂😂
For some of these challenges, you need a local fan to go in and order on your behalf, then you can pop in once they present the food. That might prevent the shenanigans they pull. This challenge is normally much smaller. And I wouldn't be surprised if they dosed it with extra heat, too.
You’re either lying or not very smart. It’s printed on the dam menu that it’s 3 pounds. They didn’t make it bigger just for him 🤦🏻♂️
Have you been there? My wife is looking for a good ramen place in Nashville. She heard Franklin is getting one but we shall see
@@names_dave 3 pounds is not that big. A normal evening soup for me is close to 3 pounds, and that was much much bigger. For comparison, his water cups in the video were at least 16 oz cups, or 1 pound, so they obviously gave him more than the stated amount, which would be 3 of those cups.
@@normanutsey4393 I haven't been to this place. It might be nice, but I wouldn't go. I've done a few eating challenges, and any place that so obviously cheats is one I don't want to take my business for even a regular meal. For reference, go grab 3 regular bottles of water, and that's 3 pounds or more.
@@yaemz123 big enough for him to note how big it is though? Lmao
"Eat this bowl of lava in under 3 pico seconds and it's free!"
Solid effort! Especially for someone who doesn't handle spicy very well lol
This absolutely cracked me up 😂 when you blew on the noodles 5:45 into the challenge like that would cool the spice down 😂 hats off for trying it.
yeah...the tried and tested method of blowing to reduce the spiciness of something hahaha
An incredible attempt at an impossible challenge. I bet this is the closest anyone has come to completing it. Well done!
This challenge is like saying finish this extra large pizza in 42 seconds. Ready GO
im in tears hahaha😂😂 thank you
Much respect for challenging yourself to doing something so hard and posting the failures as well cause just like everyday life there’s going to be peaks & valleys and it’s all about how we bounce back from our failures/adversities. You’re a prime example that encourages folks to keep pushing forward. We know you’re a beast and you’re going to crush the remaining of the challenges. Keep up the good content.
Respect for putting yourself through this for our entertainment! Rather you than me 🥵
Even before you ate a bite it was hilarious!
It’s like Dumbeldore telling harry that he must keep drinking the liquid to get to the horcrux except it’s Adam with this bowl of ramen
Bro, I’m still give you a standing ovation 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. If that challenge beat you, it wasn’t meant for anyone to win it.
You deserve a medal as well as t-shirt, money back, cap and photo on wall of fame just for getting as far as you did. 8 minutes? ! ? they are taking the p- - - . Beard - you rock!
WHAT A WARRIOR SPIRIT !!! RESPECT !!!
“Here’s 3 gallons of lava, you have 2 minutes to eat/drink it all.”
Yo beard, I’m pretty new to your channel but I’ve been binge watching your stuff on lunches and spare time and I love it all man! This challenge was crazy and 8 mins was surely not enough time but you went into it like a beast. Respect to you man!
thanks mate :)
Loved your attempt, your humility and the good vibes on display in this video. I'm fairly sure either the spice or the amount would stop most people from getting close. The combo is insane!
You did so well dude!!!!
