The oil goes in the filler tube on top of the engine, and a few thousand miles later, it comes out the drain plug in the oil pan, and some out of the filter when you change it 😂
That's what most people know, I am glad you explained that, I had no idea and a much better system than the Gen V Hemi....

You nailed the cam bearing clearance/bearing failures. Not many people check the cam bearing clearance or even change the bearings with all these “junkyard” SBE (stock bottom end) builds.

I don't think you would lose all oil pressure if the barbell is missing. The rear end cover (and gasket) seals off the barbell hole, so the oil will not get dumped into the rear of the engine. So, if the barbell is missing, no oil is directed through the oil filter, but the oil will continue to flow to the rest of the engine under normal pressure.

I have changed out the oil pump, pick up tube,o ring, cam thrust plate, barbell, the pressure relief valve in the oil pan and I still have no oil going up to the valvetrain and my gauge says I have 35 psi at idle cold.

What are the chances the factory barbell leaks on a 350k engine??. Truck has a new o ring. Melling hvhf pump with stiffer spring. New bt lifters and trays. New Cam plate. New oil pressure switch. Cold oil psi is 45 hot drops to 25 while driving.
My guessing is that barbell may got hot and warped or the rear plate seal is leaking

LS is a horrible design as far as the oiling system, Main reason why I swap to a dry sump on something like a road race car, I plug the 2 ports at the pan rail for the oil filter feed/return and just feed straight into the rear port by the back of the block.
