On Ben’s website for patreon, his 13 highest rated defensive seasons of all time are Bill Russell’s 13 seasons in the NBA haha so not too much suspense on who ranks highest. The issue with defensive peaks is that they’ll almost all be rim protectors as they offer the most value on that side of the ball. There’s only so much a guard/forward can impact defense on a variety of different plays whereas guarding the rim is necessary all the time.

Jrue is such a model of what a consistent guard should be, on both ends of the floor. It's a shame that people with gaudier stats get more recognition, when he's a proven threat and a real difference maker. His run in the 2021 playoffs showed why Milwaukee made him a max player and this season he consolidated his reputation as a legitimate closer for the Bucks. Love that dude!

@@recoil53 Physicality won't work on Giannis like it did on KD. Pretty much every celtic bodied KD even the much shorter Grant Williams. Giannis is one of the strongest dudes in the NBA he'd plow through any Celtic easily, he's also much quicker than KD but he's a much worse shooter so the Celtics will probably put a lot of bodies in his driving lane like they did a bit with KD and double him every time he gets the ball near the rim.

In addition to everythng said, Holiday always looks calm, never tired. He seems to play on a relatively slow pace , that almost hypnotizes the opponents.
The man gives an excellent rhythm to Bucks' plays and looks like havin everything under control!
A couple of months ago , I read the (fake , as has been proved) news of a possible trade , including Jrue and Ben Simmons, because Ben is younger and similar stupidities...As a Bucks' fun....I got terrorized, I had chills on my back....Thank God , it was just not true!

It's going to be interesting to see how he approaches the Boston duo of Brown and Tatum, both of which are taller and stronger than Booker/Paul and can run off screens of shooting big men like Grant Williams/Al Horford or literally run screens for each other. In addition, Middleton likely won't be available for at least the first few games, which will force unfavorable matchups after a switch.

Very efficient 18ppg 7ast as a top defensive guard. And of course his playoff mode he becomes a DPOY caliber defender.

I know this is a super late comment regarding this excellent analysis video.... But.
It's amazing that you still haven't done a breakdown video of bucks vs Celtics. Especially after the Celtics defensive balance is optimized after getting an amazing jrue. He's really rounded out their team into perfect balance.
Also to build on it, in a very tough field of the east, the real challenge is bucks/sixers/Celtics. And you probably know the only true threat to the bucks over a series of 7 is the Celtics. With the bucks offensive and defensive strategy being completely rebuilt during the season, it'll be interesting to see how things play out, especially given the Celtics and bucks rarely face off. The sixers don't face off with the top 2 much either!

I know it was mentoned in the vid, but in almost all of these clips I think that more credit is deserved for Giannis and Brook hanging around the paint, either dropping or ready to help is also a big factor in Jrue's effectiveness, the offense would rather settle for a tough 2 than take it to the rim against milwaukee's bigs, a couple of times the offense generates decent space off the screen but they don't attack the rim thanks to the lack of airspace
