  • Lindsay demonstrates how Martin's different body sizes play a role in each model's sonic character. Hear how the 00-28, 000-28, and M-36 (a 0000 body) all share the same Martin tonal DNA while each offers a unique flavor.

    I'm surprised to find out that I prefered the OO 28 over the OOO 28 in two of the three examples. Especially the strumming. Unfortunately, a smaller body doesn't mean a smaller price.
    Thanks for the demo!

    I have a 000-18 and its my go to acoustic. Prefer it over my D-28 and OM-28. You just can't beat that Martin tone. Beautiful guitars and everyone who loves to play should have at least 1 Martin in their arsenal of guitars.

    I had a 000-16GT which I like a lot but decided to try an M-36. Wow, the M-36 blew me away. Sustain, clarity, balance, richness, it really just sings. Since getting the M-36, I just never think about finding a better sounding acoustic. A friend tried it after trying the 000-28EC and couldn't believe how much better sounding the M-36 was. Give one a try if you can.

    Nice work Lindsay! 00s are my absolute favorite... had a 00-18v for a little while that I should've never sold.

    This was so helpful! I am looking at a 0000 custom Martin right now and it has an Engelmann Spruce top. I know that the Engelmann is slightly more vibrational than the Sitka, but this video was extremely informative and is helping me make my decision. Thank you!

    Heard a big jump in fullness from 00 to 000 in drop D tuning. Both short scale. The M36 seemed to have more top end in the drop D and is the long scale. I have a couple of D28s (authentic & Modern Deluxe), & they each have their own voice with VTS Adirondack & Sitka spruce tops. Nice comparison, & need to get a 000 by the sound of it. I suspect a 12 fret would add base. Nice time to dream, but pick up and play what I have while dreaming.

    000 all day long. Drop D sounded very nice with the long scale 0000 but I prefer the smaller body of the 000.

    Nice demonstration. I have an HD-28 ( 2018 ) and really love the guitar. I am intrigued by the M36 and appreciated your comparison as I am seriously considering acquiring one.

    I'm a big fan of the 000-28, but i love the 00 size. If I had to buy just one guitar in rosewood, I would go with the 000, I think rosewood sounds better if it has a little more of headroom. In my opinion, 00 size matches better with mahogany. A 000-28 is a glorious classic; a 00-28 sounds to me, of course, a great guitar. But I would buy a 00-18 instead. (I would buy both, to be honest)

    Looking to purchase a OOO-M, a cheaper version of those demonstrated, since back and sides are laminated. I had a DX1 at one time, and really liked it. I prefer the neck size that the DX1 had since I have smaller hands. Does the OOO-M have basically the same neck profile? Thank you.

      Unfortunately, that's an older model that they have since discontinued so I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that question. I would assume they'd be pretty similar but you know what they say about assumptions!

  • @davidsarauz6016
    @davidsarauz6016 Před 2 lety +1

    Hi! Which body would you recommend for singers between 000 and 00? I think the smallest has more mid range.

    • @maplestreetguitars
      @maplestreetguitars  Před 2 lety +1

      Tough to say! 00s and 000s will have different midrange focus so your voice may naturally work with one better than another. It depends on the context. A 000 will have a fuller sound that you might prefer if you're not always playing with a full ensemble. If you play mostly fingerstyle, the 00 may suit that style better. There's really no "wrong" answer. Ultimately, you have to get your hands on some and see what you like most!

      It sounds like you’re describing my Gibson J45. Short scale with mahogany back and sides. Used often in recording by big name artists for decades. Everyone needs a Martin and a Gibson, I think.

      @@tompurcell9287 I like the 1.75+ nut widths, and did find that Gibson makes a special $5,000 guitar that has it. I'm going to try it.

      I thought the same thing, having a Yamaha SJ 180 it's exactly the same size as the Martin 0000 mahogany and spruce with the 1982 short fingerboard, but it's all laminated.

      Think if you tune a long scale guitar down a half step and capo at the first fret it will approximate a short scale guitar. give it a try.

    000-28 all day. Get the right one, and trust me. Will be hard to put down. 0000 isn't my thing. Too bright. The body is actually bigger than a dread in the rear and thin waist makes it awkward. I might as well go dread.
    Don't understand why you're struvgkimgti finger pick on the 000. They're so butter
