In this interview with Rebel Wisdom's Alexander Beiner, he talks about how his long involvement with Eastern spiritual practices has informed his understanding about the nature of wisdom.

Amazing talk. Your comment section is getting weirder but the thinkers you feature are a service to humanity.

Wisdom. Hanging out with people who have it. Despite religion's numerous failings, one thing it allowed was inter-generational community. In Bury St Edmunds I run a tiny little group called 'The Art of Conversation'. (Rev Matt, Unitarian minister)

Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is knowing that pointing this out still won’t get you a Hawaiian style pizza.

I normally don't comment on videos after watching only five minutes...BUT...that was an amazing answer to Alexander's first question! I'm looking forward to the rest of this and glad I just found Roger Walsh! I already would love to see him and Rupert Sheldrake together.

This is conventional wisdom. Walsh's narrative is conventional in that it is about an individual developing themselves within an unexamined context. The proper first step is to understand the context. If a tree tries to develop in a small pot, then it won't get very far. Is this Rebel Wisdom or Bansai Wisdom?

Conventional wisdom has been lost to many and without its foundation we can't progress to 'rebel wisdom', at least not at scale. So, if you'd be so humble as to allow others to catch up with you... (jk).

@@intrograted792 All our problems are caused by conventional wisdom, which says that individuals are the problem. In reality, the context (society) is the problem. RW are conceerned about the current crisis, but the crisis is good because it is shows the limits of conventional wisdom and gives space for rebel wisdom. Unfortunately, Rebel Wisdom think the crisis is a sign that we need to rehash conventional wisdom.

Wisdom is applied knowledge + understanding.
    Eg.
    Knowledge:
    1: The stove is hot
    2: Hot things burn flesh
    Understanding (or Logic)
1: If the stove is hot
2: And I put my hand on it
3: Then my hand will get burnt
    Wisdom:
Do not put your hand on the hot stove.

The EQ needs to be adjusted on Roger Walsh. The mids (5kHz) are way too low.
