Most company trainings and truck driving schools will not prepare you for this type of problem. The only way to learn is "On the job training" meaning you learn on your own. Alex did not damage property or hurt anyone. This was a 100% successful mission.

I’m genuinely curious why when you’re low on air you’ll pull both yellow and red knobs out. As soon as you push them back in to move you lose a good bit of your air supply. Just put the truck in neutral and use the throttle to idle up the truck. You don’t need to set the trailer brakes every single time. Theres nothing wrong with the truck, it’s you.

Hey my friend, I could definitely sense the amount of stress you had In that video. Taking a semi truck into the city and into tight places is never fun, so we stay calm and collected and use it as a new learning experience. I drive a Kenworth K200 B-Double here in Australia, So I get the pleasure and the stress of having an additional trailer on the back, And if you saw some of the places I need to back into, It will probably give you a heart attack 😂.
I did notice however, in your video, There were a few missed opportunities that could have saved you a lot of trouble. And i'm just talking as a driver to another driver, I'm not trying to blow smoke out of my ass or anything, we've all been in some tough spots from time to time. 17:15 There were tire marks in the snow, from where a heavy vehicle prior to yours turned around. A clue showing that vehicle had turned right into the car park and then reversed to the railway, before driving back out. Secondly and probably more importantly, Never, ever be afraid to go inside and let them know; You're having a little trouble and ask them how other semis turn around. Asking for some help or information does not make you any less of a driver, if anything it makes you a better driver. Because you're not just trying to wing it, or risking damage to your vehicle or peoples property.
I enjoy watching your videos, and seeing the passion you have for your job and for trucks, You remind me a lot of myself when I first started driving trucks. I wish you nothing but the best in your career. So take it easy on the road, Drive safe, Never have a big ego or think your the sh*t, and there is always something new to learn. With all that said, I look forward to seeing what you're going to do next. From your Aussie Truckie friend 🚛🇦🇺 Take care.

My peterbilt would run out of primary and secondary air when you're doing lots of back and forth braking and driving it's eating up more air than it replenishes. You have to do the manuevers in one smooth action. Back and forth forwards and backwards over and over is what does it. Never rush a backing manuever. Think it through before you get into this situation.

Also, he is always telling his company he doesn’t want to go to certain states or cities and in this video he wants more money for this “difficult” site. 4 months ago he has a video titled “This is the last time I will ever deliver to New York!!!!!”. Hey Alex, you did great... Don't listen to the neg comments. When I used to drive local in NY, NJ, CT, PA I have had these types of situations/panic many times. Many city semi drivers have had the same, especially early on in their career. I have two recommendations, do not use your brakes too much or press too hard when backing up. Also, if you have to get out of your cab (only if you are on flat ground) to look around only pull your tractor brakes to prevent losing even more air. One other thing (I'm not exactly sure because I was not present) but on the video it appeared like you could have made the right at the intersection near the building stayed to the right of the cement (jersey) barrier, backed your trailer towards the train tracks and pivot the rear of trailer and jack the front of your trailer right 45 degrees to get turned around. Thanks for sharing your videos.

The “Air Loss” is him pushing that brake pedal down 10 times harder than he needs too…. It’s a brand new truck with disc brakes, not a 1958 Mack….. Alex if you read this? You don’t need 60 psi of brake pressure every time you use your brakes….. that’s why you lose your air ALL the time…. In every video I’ve ever watched….. if every truck you’ve ever driven has a “problem” holding air????? Maybe it’s NOT the truck!!!!!!!

Coming from a fellow driver Alex never put yourself in a situation without examining it first. That was my biggest problem as well when i first started, never took the time to park walk around and look at details and come up with a game plan. Trust me in tricky situations like this were you have multiple obstacles, cars, poles, buildings tight spaces etc its well worth it to park before even making a first move or turn, walk around for 10, 15 or 20 mins vs getting yourself into this predicament and fighting and struggling for an hour or so.

  • @TonyMontanaXx

I really think Alex is either braindead or trolling. All he had to do was turn right and then back the trailer along side the railroad Tracks and then pull back out. Like how is that hard? No I’m not saying back ONTO the tracks. And it’s running out of air because you are stomping on the brake the entire time.

My guy each time you set those brakes. It pushes all the air out of the tank and airbags of the trailer. So then when you push your trailer Supply valve back in. You have to put air back in the tank of the trailer and supply air to the airbags. That's where you lose all your air. When you park quit setting your trailer break so much just set the truck. Trailer won't go anywhere on flat, I promise.
