So here's the big Baiken guide finally! As always chock full of stuff for everyone, so we got timestamps everywhere in the video so feel free to skip to whatever makes sense for you! To not cross up you can do the tk input starting and ending with down back. This seems consistent for me. I didn't find this. And it's safe btw

It's crazy the layer of offense/defense she got with the tether. Arcsys really nails it with Baiken in this iteration, simple and concise special but has so much nuances with her unique tether mechanic.
Mr. Monger, just want to say you’ve been my go-to for character guides over the years. I’ve been holding out to seriously play Baiken until you dropped some videos. Like all these other comments, you’re the man, keep doing what you do. Excited for your KOF stuff too once that’s out.

Baiken looks very solid in GGST so far, and I'm glad that's the case! Initially I was a bit worried about how well she'd perform compared to the cast, but turns out she can do just fine!

worth noting for the otg youzansen crossup, instead of delaying your air dash you can do 236S right after air dashing if u input it hella fast and youll still get the crossup

I was trying out most characters in the missions and she did look interesting to me. Not in her appearance, that too, but because she didn't have any weird inputs or was just a massive tank/heavy hitter. I'll definitely main her and this video helped out so much so thank you for that!

This is an amazing video on Baiken, I fist got into strive WHEN this character came out (I played quite a bit if XRD Rev 2 and I played only Baiken and Raven), and I'll be honest, I wasn't really into Strive until I saw Baiken coming back and her gameplay absolutely blew mw away. I watched this guide as soon as she came out AND when I first picked up the game and I had a hard time executing most of the tech in this video, but now that time has passed I fully understand everything you explain and love this video 10x better, thanks for the tips on my Baiken and I'll be going to tournaments soon because of you, thanks again for getting me into this game and keep it up P.S I was gonna ask maybe do an update video on current Baiken? like executing dust combos, the wall bounce properties of air dust and any new tech you've might discovered? Thanks so much for this super awesome video. On a side note I've noticed sometimes with the combo at 42:12 is that it doesn't always give the the wall break with the 2nd part of the tatami. Not sure what causes it, but if it happens ill just use a super for the extra kd after the wall break.
its all about the timing basically. Give it more time to breath and the wall "regenerates" its damage

Her most impressive move is to change her arm from side to side. I never notice characters just got mirrored until now
You forgot to mention one of best air to air space options...jD. The range on her jD is ridiculous and allows you to snub out air approaches. If they are afraid of Kubari H and start trying to air dash approach, jD them into oblivion. Add icing to the cake with the blickey super. Super disjointed and wall bounces.

Hey, Berserk is an amazing series and a staple of the Shonen genre, but don't forget the blatant Rurouni Kenshin homage she also represents (or used to at least). o3o
honestly at least personally speaking, when going out of kick or close slash, I find the buffered jump then qcf easier to input than the tiger knee version although it may differ between controller players like myself and stick players

Point to note. If you do TK tatami mat it becomes more difficult to tell the difference.
I do not understand the timing on the tatami safejumps. Do I need to wait a moment after landing to combo off of the mat hit when they wake up with a button? Because if I try to cS the moment I hit the ground the DP will hit me, and if I try to wait then i can't combo off the mat in time. I can't really fathom what im doing wrong, just TKing it as fast as possible, holding back and hitting cS when I land but it doesn't work.

Baiken in. Very nice. I am left with one pressing question... What are her defensive modifiers? Her defense and, I think it's called guts? The numbers that affect your health. Where does Baiken fall, on a scale from Chip to Potemkin?
Aside from that, amazing guide as always. Sometimes I wish you spent a little more time on the basic moveset, maybe on normals, but then each guide would be as long as the Broly Mega-Guide, and while I'd love it, you definitely don't have time for that.
1.11 defense, which means she takes a good hefty chunk of damage more than most characters, but also 4 guts, which is the second highest modifier

As someone who really hadn't played much of platform fighters like this in general, how hard do you think it will be before I get the hang of it? Right now I'm just learning these close you showed but its not natural, im too conscious of inputting them that I mess up. So I'm just wondering how long it usually takes before I basically get decent lol
As with anything it takes time. I've been at this stuff since 1991 and I still keep learning myself and that's part of the fun, its a never ending journey.

I can completely do the combo at 23:48 but I feel like its really hard to get the quick cancel out of the red roman cancel into HS. Any tips on making this consistant?
I figured it out. You do a punch input right before HS after the roman cancel. Not sure why this works the way it does but im stoked you had your inputs on lol :)
Just watched your Roman cancel video and it all makes sense now. It’s not the punch that’s making it possible. Shoulda started there lol

Ok Rooflemonger, I have to ask do you have to practice all these combos alot? I mean you seem to make this videos so flawlessly, I know for one, I myself am not that good at all the inputs for the characters. SO attempt to do these things, but man it just seems nuts you don't miss a beat! Still really great video! I love the fact Boss Baiken is back, (I feel like this more of the missing link Baiken then the one from Xrd). Even love the fact that the 2-P is her original color scheme from missing link! The back jump tatami seems not to be a good move, since air tatami drops slower than Baiken herself, which makes the situation occurs a lot that Baiken is hitten by oppenenet as soon as she landed and tatami get destroyed by the damage in the air.
