Fun fact
Stan Lee (rip) said that the only reason Spider-Man can’t wield the hammer is because he wouldn’t take a life
Activate instant kill
@@LimitbreakerStudios yeah I think that debunks the above quite swell
If that's the case then Captain America shouldn't have lifted it.
@@tubucoco he killed so many nazis though
@@BlueDolphinGamerWoLS stan lee said and he the god of that world so yeah listen to him
So basically it seems to boil down to this.
Intentions to use Mjolnir for good in both your rational mind and feeling heart, humility, courage, and being a warrior.
And now, courtesy of Donny Cates, anyone can pick up the damn thing. SMH.
Neat.
And Tony doesn’t want to be a warrior
@@MrPjw5 litterally anyone? thats interesting
@@MrPjw5ikr... smh
When Drake said, "Cap could only wield the hamer in the heat of battle", that imediently reminded me of the scene from Age of Ultron when he moved the hammer a bit.
But do you know the reason why he couldn't lift the hammer?
because he doesnt have a purpose, having to hold the hammer , is to have the spirit to really want or being needed to use it for good, such as saving the universe from evil.. , that time captain was almost tilt the hammer because he has a good mind to be ready on fighting anything thats bad, but the purpose that time is just to lift the hammer for a bet,not to use in fight,so the hammer did not let him lift... so basically if it were in a fight, captain might have already lift the hammer..
@@ezzadesa wow man u r cursed with knowledge thanks alot
@@ezzadesa hello, it's the Yeat 2019 and during a Fight, Cap did weild the power of Thor
Zenrage please read what i explain.. im tired too explain again
Just remember that you can be worthy and unworthy at different moments
But is an elevator able to lift it?
András Fogarasi My guess would be yes, an elevator could lift Thor's hammer and my reasoning is that nonsentient beings (such as Vision) are able to lift it. Btw they don't get Thor's power but they can lift it.
Zutaca The reason I said he was nonsentient was because in another one of Comic Drake's videos (Everyone who has ever used Thor's hammer) at 7:22-7:50 he lumped Vision and others into the category of "nonsentient beings" but I do know what you mean and maybe the Asgardian Destroyer Armor would have been a better example of a nonsentient being.
@@andysizemore5978 in Thor the movie didn’t a dude try to lift the hammer with a car but the car broke so I don’t think so
@@angelgaming9931 i think the car broke because it was controlled by a human, I mean, it was a sentient being with a car as an intermediate that wanted to move Mjolnir.
I believe non sentient being are able to move Mjolnir as long as they can move with consciousness or without being controlled by a human
Vision (kind of a robot) is a good exemple of that
@@darkvolt3534 but in another thor movie shield moved the hammer to a facility because it was on a rock being moved/controlled by a human
I would never think of Jane foster as worthy , however I also believe Jane Foster was changed by her coming to terms with cancer , so I also believe that if Jane Foster did not battle cancer she would not be worthy.
It did not matter what Odin thought.
Like Drake said in the video; the HAMMER decides worthiness not Odin.
To Wield Mjolnir have .T.h.o.r {Truth} {Humility} {Öpen Heart} {Řight Mind}
😮
I really wish they wouldn't call her Thor it makes no sense since Thor was the guy's name and not his alias.
Actually it is an alias, It's the name of whoever is the god of thunder kind of, during his period of unworthyness he wasn't called Thor anymore, he went by odynson
It should be Tera
@@NicaremE Odinson is his last name, Loki also is "Odinson" because he is the son of Odin. "Thor" is his first name, not a title or alias.
Yeah it really bugs me since recently there were stories where he was still thor before he was worthy.
@@Jdude281 lokis last name isnt odinson because hes not odins son
Hes a frost giant, his last name is Laufeyson
And thors names isnt "thor" necessarily, he has gone by thor odison because he possessed the power of thor
"If he should be worthy, let he who weilds this hammer possess the power of thor."
If "thor" was thor l, why would he need a hammer to possess the power of thor
Its always been a title
The only thing I know about Thor's Hammer is that it is useless if you want to destroy the NES game Nightshade, the hammer breaks easily (Crap jokes aside, great video Drake)
thank you for this
The claws of HEUGH
I think the fact that Mjölnir is sentient to an extent makes it impossible to precisely pin down qualifications since it can just pick & choose who is worthy
I'm loving this new series, Drake. The detailed explanation of some of the minor or ridiculous details in the DC or Marvel comic storylines always leaves me in awe about how intricate those details are to the character in question.
Like with King crimson, IT JUST WORKS. jojo reference. Who got it, got it

Thor: who ever wields this hammer is ruller of asgard
Captain America: hold my beer
Hi there buddy I am going to be your first subscriber and hope you can upload content on your channel ok bye now
"Millner" here we go. Still a great video though.
It has always been worthy according to the values of Odin (probably at the time of enchantment, rather than changing over time), up until Jane Thor was introduced.
Jason Aaron just wanted Thor to not have the hammer, and he wanted the hammer to stay where it was so that Jane could pick it up. So he made it so Odin couldn't move it, which is really fucking stupid.
And don't give me that bullshit about "Odin has never lifted the hammer" - yeah he has. And Bor, his father. And even when Thor was not worthy as King Thor, he could still lift it with his Thor force, with no problem.
In other words, even if Odin was somehow not worthy, he should still have been able to move it; but they had to go make him a weak, senile, old misogynist, so that Jane Thor could beat him up.
except humility wasn't a factor when it was first enchanted. It came along later, furthermore he even showed that at some times Odin himself cant even lift the hammer despite being the one to make the enchantment. The hammer picks who is worthy not Odin, just look at hydra cap America, he could lift it even while a member of hydra.
OP is correct. Things about Mjolnir were changed in Jane’s story as opposed to pre established history.
Odin has literally made Mjolnir instantly drop and become unmovable on *_his_* command while Thor was wielding it.
And Hydra Cap was able to lift it because the cosmic cube altered the inscription.
glad you're still doing these videos. keep up the great work
4:12 I think Odinson calling himself “unworthy” has nothing to do with enchantments and everything to do with “I’m unworthy of my hammer, so why should I take Beta’s? That would leave him hammerless.”
Another great video. Though I believe a stronger wrap up would make it feel more conclusive. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work Drake!
Excellent video drake!
Really informative and compelling argument buddy!
Don't hate, but Jane Foster seems to be drawn nowadays in a representation of Natalie Portman's take of the character. The shot with the bandana on her head reminds me of the final parts of V for Vendetta where she was also bald.
***** Over time, there is a point where reading the comics, you then just realise what the artists are doing. And to think, people argued over the Natalie's performance so much, even Thor (in the movies) doesn't talk to her.
+Comic Drake Sorry yes i worded it wrong, i meant in the time Natalie Portman has played her a big portion of that time jane in the comics has had cancer, meaning she has a more angular face and more defining features due to her sickness, but if she wasn't sick i think she would look nothing like Natalie Portman, sorry again for not wording it properly the first time, iv loved the thor comics ever since i was like little kid
***** Nice conclusion, I can definitely agree. I took a half decade long break from Thor comics so...
Russell Dauterman said he used reference and it's pretty obvious he uses Natalie Portman as a reference for his Jane. She even has the beauty spot on her cheek!
in the most recent runs of thor, the cosmic storm trapped within thors hammer is the hammer. it basically determines who is worthy. it maanaged to escape the hammer and battled thor in one of the recent volumes. so when superman or otherrs or thor lifted the hammer it is only because the hammer itself as a being deemed it so.
That was a good video about... Milner?
How many people have "lifted" Thor's hammer and how many were actually granted Thor's power. To me the latter is the true test of worthiness though the comics have never consistently defined what makes one worthy. You did a good job of highlighting some of the traits that seem to be required.
cool video, man.
could you do a video on the parallels on the marvel norse gods and their actual mithologycal counterparts?
I would kill Surtur just to see Beta Ray Bill in the MCU
Hey Drake, nice video. Got me to finally subscribe to ya. Great stuff :)
I do have a question regarding the video. Are the rules and what makes one worthy to monjihr applies as well to the ultimate universe? Cause I know that universe is a bit wee different then the normal marvel comics universe that most people know. I just ask cause I started to read said comics of said universe and I find Thor a bit same but without the cape haha.
I realize it's not exactly canon on Marvel's end but I always subscribed to the Odin theory because of what Thor says in JLA/Avengers about Supes being able to wield it for a time. I'd have to dig out the exact quote but it was something to the effect of Odin not being an idiot and letting others wield it in times of great need which indicated he has direct control of the enchantment. Of course that's a dubious resource and I think modern Thor writers have been moving a different way with the depictions of Jane Thor. anyway, just thought it was a fun tidbit, thanks for the interesting video, mate.
Thorsday64 as this video said that can't be true because if it was Odin would be able to lift it at anytime yet he can't. plus it's been semi confirmed the hammer has a mind of its own and judges who welds it itself
Thorsday64 also Odin disproved of Jane wielding the hammer calling her a thief. If he had control he would not allow her to wield it
No, no I tend to agree in regards to the modern incarnation. It was more of a side note on how it could have been interpreted as Odin having control of the enchantment. What with his whole "Lady Thor is Evil and I must destroy her, mwhahahah" binge he's been on, it's fairly clear he doesn't have control of it in continuity. I suppose the broader point was that different writers have interpreted the enchantment in different ways which is bound to happen with any character that has run so long and had so many different various writers. I like the Jane Thor, I think her character has promise and while I haven't kept up religiously with her comic, just reading the odd issue here or there, I tend to think letting the enchantment be separate from Odin helps the narrative more than it hurts.
I have a few questions:
1. Can someone with telekinesis life Thor's hammer with their powers?
2. Can magneto lift Thor's hammer?
3. If Thor's hammer is on a table with the handle pointing upwards and somebody nocks it over, does that mean they're worthy?
Drake wearing a Thor helmet is the only thing that could make this video better.
And mentioning Throg :P.
Comic Drake Where is the bleach hat?
Drake, all I want for Christmas is a Picture of you With the helmet and Mjolnir on twitter!!
Worthiness is whatever the writers feel like it is.
Drake is holding mulner....worthy?
I would guess that its psychological based off the idea of lying to oneself vs truly believing in yourself and the want to act on it
How did Beta Ray Bill regain his worthiness?
i liked that other video you made too. it was a good one
Great video. :D
It’s all about if the one of all deems the worthy enough to lift it. The writer of the story.
Are you going to do a series on the What If? stuff from Marvel and DC? If so that would be awesome.
Thunderstrike's mace/hammer thing (seriously what is it?) also had the worthiness enchantment on it as well (whether Eric masters was able to lift it because he fullfilled the requirements or because he had been fused to Thor I'm unsure of though)
Endgame spoiler
Captain America lift mjolnir
Not exactly a spoiler. He did it in the comics. Everyone knew it would happen
Everyone knew he'd do it .....duh!
What makes one worthy of Mjolnir?
Editorial mandate.
Earth 616? Is that still a thing ?
I personally think Ms Marvel is capable of lifting the hammer. She has a noble mind, she's brave, and she's a fighter.
but she isn't a Warrior
Humility, bravety, love,
Very interesting topic
Can you do a video about Storms hammer Storm-caster
hey i know you get a lot of request but can we here about the power pack? it was my first ever comic book, and i feel they should get more recognition, especially since alex and julie keep showing up!
there is a cosmic storm which is Sentient which Oden trapped un the mettle and the dwarfs made it into the hammer on Odens command the hammer is alive and has a mind of its own ie it talked in that one issue u told about
How did you lift mjolnir?

Would NIGHTWING be worth?
I mean, he has the heart of a hero and constantly put his own life in danger. But unlike other characters like Captain America, he doesn’t seem willing to give up all of his life to being a superhero, he still wants to be Dick Grayson.
I’d like to think he’s worthy, but understand if he wasn’t.
He doesn't kill, so no he wouldn't
Could you cover Captain Hydra wielding Mjolnir? He was straight up a bad guy
Always knew your were worthy Drake
I can't believe it, Drake is able to wield mjolnir he is worthy
thanks
When Odin was unable to lift the Hammer meant hé had bad intention at this moment . Stormbraker has a différent enchantement. By thé way the enchantement can be erased by Odin and has been when the doctor don Blake disguise was no longer needed when Thor learned humanity
Squirrel Girl can pick up the hammer in 616 canon. She did it in Squirrel Girl Beats up the Marvel Universe.
I don't have the issue on me at the moment to check but i am pretty sure the events of Squirrel Girl Beats up the marvel universe are reffered to in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl vol 2 issue 12 (or maybe 11).
Comic Drake I found it. In The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl vol 2 #12 Nancy makes a comment about "the past few weeks" which had an * which leads to an editor's note that says Nancy is referring to events of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats up the Marvel Universe. This looks canon enough for me unless there is a specific place that says it isn't canon. Also Drake I love your videos... And Squirrel Girl.
First off, I think worthiness is about what you fight for. If you're fighting to protect others, you may be worthy.
If you, however choose to fight for your own desires (namely your ego, like Stark would;" the hammer would barely move.
Secondly, did Thor's hammer in the Norse mythology have the same enchantment
Question 2: no
Osp's video on Norse myths said it wasn't about worthiness it was just the hammer was so ridiculously powerful only someone as mighty as Thor could wield it without being destroyed.
1:05 Thor be
*tHicC*
Red Norvell definitely should be taken as an anomaly in those who've wielded Mjolnir. He used Asgardian artifacts to trick Mjolnir and his only motivation to do so was an infatuation with Sif.
If Uru needs to be forged in the heart of a star, I wonder if it contain neutronium - as in neutron star material.
Gabriel Air Walker lifted the hammer so maybe machines get an extra break.
I love the look of your hair right now, with the green mostly grown out and the dark underneath. looks hot.
The good intentions part. Do the hammers decide what good intentions are or does the person holding it?
How did he just pronounce Mjölnir..?
oh boy oh boy
So what conclusion did you reach? You didn't say at the end.
So outside of cheats like being in space, or magnetic powers, has anyone Evil been able to wield Mjolnir in any universe? Not counting Evil Thors since those Mjolnirs are probably default evil as well. Also not counting Zombie universes. Im just looking for any clues that could tell me why Thor is no longer worthy.
How was Captain America or Captain Hydra as he was called in the secret empire was able to lift the mjolnir in secret empire issue number 0.
Can you explain that
If the hammer has a mind of its own, we can see how the requirements can change over time (which explains that addition of humility). Now, given that, either both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker have a shared mind (to which there is no indication that I am aware of) or we can assume that requirements can diverge. Furthermore, if Thor refused Stormbreaker saying that he is not worthy… but did not attempt to wield it, we have no evidence that he was not worthy of Stormbreaker.
My head canon is that "wield" and "lift" are too different things. In addition, may have different requirements. That is how I accommodate some people lifting the hammer (such as the aforementioned Captain America) but not getting the powers of Thor in doing so.
Finally, Mjolnir seems to have some access to the wieldier mind. If giving information to the wieldier can cause Mjolnir to change its judgement on worthiness it means that either Mjolnir became aware of that and changed opinion, or the impact of the information on the wieldier mind was enough to change the judgment… either way Mjolnir had access to the wielder mind.
---
Btw, I come here from the video on whatever or not Thor is a God. On that I want to say that I believe that in a universe where an individual born of a mortal race can be lifted to the level of a cosmic entity being a God can be a title.
But how are YOU able to lift the hammer, Drake?
My goal in life is to become a man worthy of Mjolnir.
Be a good man before being a man worthy of Mjolnir.
I would say wisdom would be a good trait to show whether you are worthy or not. One could have the best intentions in the world and yet still commit crimes against humanity, I think the hammer would care if you are using it for the right reasons against the right people. That you use the hammer wisely
Why is there a random ellipsis point (...) on Mjölnir's engraving is a bigger mystery than it's system of worthiness. Did the Dwarven blacksmiths want to add some special building-up dramatic effect to whoever was reading it?
Also people may be complaining that Drake's pronouncing it without any sign of the 'j' sound in any way, but hey even if he's not pronouncing it like a Germanic 'j' (which makes the sound of a consonant 'y') at least he's not pronouncing it like 'dzh' or English's usual sound for a 'j', like most people and CZcamsrs seem to do accidentally, so cut Drake some slack here.
idk if this is true or not, but I read somewhere that the only reason Spider-man can't lift the hammer is because of his fear of killing, so.. I guess you also have to be willing to kill?
nevermind I just read Comic Drake's comment where he touches on that, my bad
is wolverine worthy?
I wanna do a video on what anime characters are worthy and video game characters
It's good to see that you're worthy. When's the next time you plan on using its power?
Squirrel Girl weilded Mjolnir briefly in Unbeatable SG Beats Up the Marvel Universe...
Comic Drake I admit I didn't trawl the comments but I didn't see any mention of that. Whoopsy daisy!
Sam Woodcock and it was awesome!
I wonder if saitama is worthy of lifting thors hammer?
bitch he just flick that thing and the hammer be impressed xD but for real i bet it would honestly depend on the situation
depends on show ;laws are being followed, he doesn't really have a warrior attitude, due to it being kindof boring, but he can do anything he wants basicly. i mean the same really goes with all gag comic heros
Kiju kitten Even then. Im not sure saitama is actually worthy. Or if he is, it will be like how captain america weilds the hammer. Only when doing a noble thing or whatever. Though i dont see why saitama would bother using the hammer since his punch is always gonna be more powerful.
Mr Rishi The Cookie Let's see, the prerequisites seem to be good intentions both in heart and mind, humility, courage, and being a warrior. I'll only be taking evidence from the anime, as I've not read the manga.
Saitama has shown that he has good intentions. He wanted to be a hero that defeats the villains, he doesn't care what people think of him and gave up reputation on multiple occasions for the good of the people.
He's humble, as even though he's so powerful, he doesn't think much of it. Just calling himself a guy who's a hero for fun.
Courage is a tricky one. Because courage isn't the absence of fear, but acting in spite of it. Thing is, he's never actually afraid because he's the strongest thing alive. However, he was courageous in fighting Crablante back when he was still a normal guy, and I believe that courage is still within him. In fact, in his dream fighting the subterraneans, he thought he was fighting enemies that could hurt him, and he didn't let any fear stop him. Which leads into the last one.
Is Saitama a warrior? Yes he's kind of lazy when he's just lounging around his house, and sale shopping doesn't really sound like a warrior. But once again, in his dream he relished fighting an opponent that could actually hurt him. In the last episode he enjoys the fight against his most powerful opponent yet. And back when he was still a normal Human, he had a warrior's spirit when fighting Crablante, and when training for so long to get to where he is now.
So I believe based on the evidence we have that it's very likely he could wield Mjolnir.
Sai Prime Would be fun to see an official crossover at one point. Just for the lols :D
I had a discussion with someone online on whether One Punch Man could lift Mjolnir. I personally think he could.
He has all the "qualifications".
He's pure of heart, the will of a warrior, and is humble
Omar Guillen Not exactly the will of a warrior...or at least after he broke his limits he was really the 'I'm bored.....' emotion.
Elite General Sure, but throughout the anime he goes from "I guess I'll do it since no one else can" to "A monster? I'll take it down!"

Spidey 2099 was also able to lift Mjolnir because he was willing to kill if he had to
Hi Drake
Thor is now worthy
A coat rack is worthy as well.
Penny: If Harry Potter's wand can make decisions why can't Thor's hammer?
Amy: If you're going to compare wands and hammers I CAN'T TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY!
actually every character in marvel can lift the hammer, its just that they need to have good intention on using it such as fighting or saving the world from bad stuff, but if they dont have a purpose and wanting to lift the hammer, basically the hammer will restrict them from lifting it.
So you have to be good in the heart and soul. So that why Superman and Vision can pick up the hammer
That's not a requirement.
spider man cant use the hammer because he dislikes killing
yup
I mean, i don't it's because he killed people, normal Mjolnir probably killed lots and he still wielded it. I never read those comics, so I don't know if it's right, but did the guy wavered in the thought of killing innocent lives just a bit?
Since Jane carries Mjolnir of her strong heart and all.
I'm just winging it by now XD
Im curious about the MCU cause no avenger could lift it so does that mean theyre not all good, or are the rules differant in the mcu
There not 100℅ pure
cap got the closest as he's done nothing but good
Tony would probably try to create ultimate peace but fail and go insane with power
Hulk would end up destroying everything
Bruce would hulk out
Sacrifice is different from risk.. Vison thor and cap are willing to sacrifice their life for the sake of people.. Unlike the other hero they just willing to risk or defend the people
Not gonna lie, I kinda wish someone would make a video like KuroTheArtist (The Ink Tank) made for all the things that Ben could turn into using the Omnitrix, having a list of different characters/species he could/maybe/couldn't turn into (things like Kryptonians, Saiyans, and Cybertronians to name a few)...but as a "What characters could lift Mjolnir?" instead giving examples of popular characters that people may think could lift the legendary hammer.
Obvious characters that would appear would be anime/manga characters like Goku, Izuku Midoriya, and All Might. I know I only mentioned characters from 2, but it's such a popular idea of if Midoriya would be worthy or not, and considering it's been suggested that they have to be willing to sacrifice themselves as well as be willing to end a life if need be, so there are things that suggest that All Might may be worthy of Mjolnir but not Midoriya for the same reason that Spider-Man can't (it has apparently been confirmed that Spidey isn't worthy because he is not willing to end a life, so I think that provides another piece of crucial information). Midoriya has a pure heart nearly identical to that of Spidey (I mean, the two are compared to one another so much and Spider-Deku/Spider-Man-crossover stories are one of the most common MHA what ifs there seem to be), and since All Might was willing to kill in order to stop All For One (hell! He even _thought_ he killed him in their last fight!). But then again...Midoriya seems like he might be willing to kill, he hit Muscular and Overhaul full power without any clear indication that he knew if it would kill them or not (one of them with a 1 million percent smash after he learned he could handle a 100% easily, so I feel like that might say something)...Odin's beard this hammer is so god damn confusing!!
...I feel like I'm gonna have an aneurism trying to decipher if Goku could lift it, so I'm not gonna bother trying after the All Might and Deku debate.
So, you must be right by emotions and mind)
Well, someone is worthy if he knows how to act in every situtation. The Power to lift the Hammer, doesnt Come from kindness or mercy or anything like that. In other words, you have to do what ever it takes to get the job done. Simple.
there are a lot of people can lift it like storm from the x men
Comic Drake have you ever heard of a little game called marval ultimate alliance
Spiderman isn't worthy because he doesn't have the will to kill right???
jonathan munoz I think so
jonathan munoz or because he thinks he isn't worthy
wait... you have to have the will to kill? I didn't know that; that is cool.
Spiderman isn't worthy because he is not a warrior
And another thing is that he Spares Villains no matter what they did, but at the same time he is not confident whether he took the right decision of sparing them or not.
i think its because he destroyed planets and try to get revenge
Can it stop a GTA train?
isnt there a thing where they have to be willing to kill and thats why peter parker cant lift it?
If thor dies who will get the mjolnir
