"Let Grayson keep dicking around like Batman" - Comic Drake
Wordplay at its absolute finest
and they all called him Bat-dick
I cringed as I wrote that
Kolerain Rowland Dick is another name for Richard.
Gulorful, wooooooosh. it's a pun/dirty joke. That's why i added "you just ask"
Kolerain Rowland Oh I thought you didn't get the joke.
Also not sure if it counts BUT AGENT VENOM IS SO FUCKING AMAZING
Now space Knight venom
Well I would class Venom as a Legacy character. Brock, Gargon and Thompson were definitely different enough from each other. Visually Gargon-Venom was my favourite though.
heck yeah
elise
i think it should count . i have been enjoying his space adventures alot
I personally really liked Kate Bishop as Hawkeye being a big fan of Clint myself.
AH! KATE! I FORGOT KATE! Kate Bishop is the best!!
*cough* x-23aswolverinisawesome *cough*
Adrian I agree
Yep agreed I fucking love Laura as wolverine and she and Gabby are so cute. In my humble opinion she and Kate bishop are the gold standards of how legacy hero's should be treated. And perfect exanples of legacy done well. With Laura we've seen her over come horror and depravity and become a hero in her own right until she could have a moment in the sun and while it was sort lived she didn't whine and Nash her teeth she did what any hero would. And continue to do good. She dosn,t need to prove anything to any one. She's paid her dues and knows her own worth. And Kate shares the title with Clint they see each other as equals
My favorite is Cassandra Cain, she's such an amazing Batgirl and so interesting and her and Barbara's working together makes the book so good
yes I agree with you on Dick grayson, he is the true heir and the only one imo who could replace Bruce, I feel like people forget that Dick is actually a pretty great detective he might not be as great as Bruce or even Tim but a good one nonetheless and also understood what Bruce stood for, also people forget that Dick is the best fighter out all the robins its canon and Dick is also the only member of the batfam who could become Batman and not let the darkness take over, which is what I feel like would happen to Tim if he ever did become batman, even if you don't like Dick or prefer Bruce or Terry you gotta admit that he was a pretty great batman
I fucking hate that bastard grayson he is a womanizer and he two timed the poor girl Barbara screw him and his dead whore mother i hope he dies and stay dead as long as gwen stacy did, to me he is the worst dc character
@@bettybanner7213 sir this is a wendy's
betty banner ok bruh
@@bettybanner7213 Stop it, get some help.
Whoa betty banner
Well I have a small list of cool legacy characters that weren't in this video:
1. X-23 becomes the next wolverine
2. African-American Nick Fury becomes director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
3. War Machine takes over as Iron Man for a short while
Those are some good ones
How come I never hear anyone talk about the Infamous Iron Man series where Victor von Doom takes up the mantle of Iron Man? The suit looks absolutely AMAZING!!!
Oh no. I wasn't talking about you. I'm aware of that fact. I was referring to the newer comments and discussions.
wait he did what awsome
Bucky was somewhat better served in the Winter Soldier comics (and his original appearance when Steve was still Cap) rather than the main Captain America run. I really like his relationship with the Black Widow.
DC has and always will have the better legacy characters, imo. I feel that Marvel has been DESPERATELY making all these new characters to have them but they just don't know what to do with them and it shows. There's very few of the changes that feel right or that feel organic and make sense in terms of continuity or story.
Tyler Worsham you said captain America twice
Agreed.
Marvel was always more about the secret identities, while DC was more about the superheroes. As a result, it's always kind of more weird when Marvel does it
@@perrisavallon5170 Not true. Marvel has more public identities than secret ones.
@@TheFLAMEXD Sorry, I worded that weird. I meant Marvel characters emphasize their normal lives more than DC characters. Like, you'll have plenty of long plotlines about Peter Parker's personal life, but not many about Bruce Wayne's personal life.
6:14, "because comics" is basically the entire clone saga in a nutshell.
That, executive and marketing fuckery
Poor Ben, his full name should be Ben "Never got a chance" Reily
but he came back with a new series that is actually really good
Aside from the ones mentioned i love x23 wolverine, cassandra Cain Batgirl and the overall legacy of doctor fate
since miles and peter both exist now in marvel prime doesn't that technically mean he's a legacy character i mean both of them are spider man but still
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Technically, yes.
Technically, ms marvel is a "zoomer".
That's what I was gonna say lol
I hate this
Kamala isone of the best comicbook characters
Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern is excellent and I'm very thankful that when Geoff Johns brought Hal Jordan back in GL: Rebirth, Kyle stuck around and had a real presence and story arcs.
The Robin Legacy is a well known strong legacy in comic book history
Would the Green Lanterns besides Hal count as legacy characters? If so I'd say Kyle Rayner Green Lantern is my favorite. That and Dick Grayson Batman
if you count earth green lanterns as legacy characters, then that's the best line of legacy heroes ever ;) cos' theyre all amazing.
I was thinking this too! I'd add Jessica Cruz and John Stewart to the list as well.
Technically Hal and even Barry Allen are also legacy characters, taking after Alan Scott (I might have that name wrong - and also Abin Sur and every other Green Lantern) and Jay Garrick. Although I guess that's alternate universe, so...
David B Jacobs Love all the green lanterns! Alan,Hal,Guy,John,Jade,Kyle,Simon & Jessica!
I personally love John Stewart’s Green Lantern. I may be biased because I grew up watching the DCAU but I really want him to be the Green Lantern in the new DC movies, the live action ones. DC, if you are reading these comments, then make a fan girl happy and make a Green Lantern movie with John Stewart. Because John Stewart is an awesome, badass character.
@@mirandagoldstine8548 Snyder already said that DC has plans for John Stewart's lantern. Also nolan recommended the protagonist of tenet movie for the role. So... Fingers crossed
Ms. Marvel is amazing!
To me, Wally West IS the Flash.
No argument there
I like that both Flash and Kid Flash are legacy titles. Wally II is pretty great as Kid Flash. All I really want is a Flash title with Wally I as the Flash and Wally II as Kid Flash.
The only thing I don't like about Lady Thor is that she took the name "Thor" as a title. As a Scandinavian that is very weird considering it's a pretty common name here. Also my own name is Thor so that could also be why I'm biased
Thorbjørn to be fair its heimdalls fault (he placed a thor cosplay spell on the hammer after thor died the first time and eric masterson replaced him as thor)
Thor is Jane's secret identity, and it sends a message that she is the new God(dess) of Thunder. And the Mighty Thor is easier to sell.
Thorbjørn she should be called lady Thor instead of Thor
Such Intriguing Thoughts Or get a hammer of her own like Beta Ray Bill and Eric Masterson.
Wait what? For real? That is badass.
The Jane Foster Thor run has been absolutely amazing. Shame on those who right it off. Great video all around, you picked some great legacy characters.
Although the hammer stopping her from getting better is a bit of a downer.
My only problem with Jane foster as thor, is that the name Thor is LITERALLY THOR'S NAME. It's not a title, Thunder God, is a title, call her Thoress goddess of thunder, or something with goddess of thunder in the name,, but Thor isn't a title, its the guys freaking name!
they did it with 2099 and no body said anything and other people have took in than name
Read Tom DeFalco's run.
Well, sadly “Thor” is a title. It’s literally written on the hammer.
I love Jane foster as Thor too, she's such a great take on the Thor. You're not alone drake :)
I've been reading the old Cassandra Cain Batgirl series and I absolutely ADORE her. She was such a great successor to Barbara. I even think she makes a better heir to the overall bat mantel than Dick.
While Dick makes way more sense short term long term, like 10+ in universe years later, I'd really like to see Cassandra or Tim take over the Batfamily. So much of Dick's story was trying to get out of Bruce's shadow, so I don't want him as a permanent sucessory. Cassandra on the other hand does want it and she arguably understands the values behind the bat symbol as much as if not more than Bruce himself.
Thank you! Superior Spider-Man is awesome! Also, notice me Drake senpai!
:D
+Comic Drake I agree dick is the best choice as batman
hmmm favorite legacy characters
Captain America (Bucky Barnes & Sam Wilson)
Ant-Man (Scott Lang and Eric O'Grady)
Flash (Pre-52 Wally West)
Wolverine (X-23)
Blue Beetle (Ted Kord & Jamie Reyes)
Ghost Rider (Daniel Ketch)
Batman (Earth-2 Dick Grayson & Terry McGinnis)
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Robin (Tim Drake)
Scarlet Spider (Kaine)
Kinda indifferent to Jane Foster's rendition of Thor as I haven't read her run wielding the mantle, on the one hand I think it's cool Jane Foster took up the hammer but on the other it admittedly irks me that Marvel's calling her Thor when Thor is the name of the actual individual rather than a mantle. That being said I still think it's cool what they're doing with her.
almost forgot, Venom (Flash Thompson)
When I think of Legacy comic characters, I think of the phantom, so that's an option to look up.
theres a movie starring billy zane from the 90s. campy but enjoyable
The Phantom is the original costumed superhero and legacy character. The phantom identity is hundreds of years old, starting in 1536 when the founder created the identity to fight African pirates. The legacy passed down from father to son (or daughter) for over 20 generations. Lee Falk created the character back in 1936, with Superman not appearing till 1938 and Batman in 1939. Meanwhile, the Doc Savage character was created in 1933 and many aspects of him were adapted for Batman and Superman.
lolololololololololo at bucky rant. i'm sure you had to do it. but i'm gladdd you brought up falcon.
To be fair, the speed force was invented for Wally.
For the Jane Foster Thor it's not because she's a woman I would love to see Jane kick ass with Thor like powers. The problem is that she's calling herself Thor because Thor is Odinson's name not a title also the way marvel has been treating real Thor is disrespectful.
Eh
Read king Thor
I mean
He can literally smash the world to bits
@@miletilblight2181 doesnt mean they are not being disrespectful by turning his name into a commodity that can be passed around like a bag of chips.
LOVE CAP FALCON!!!!
he shoulda kept the name,
gave back the shield
(cuze its gotta be a bitch while flying),
took on tge energy field shield,
and renamed Rogers
COLONEL AMERICA!
after all this time
a rank increase is due!
Best DC legacy for me is Blue Beetle, while best Marvel legacy for me is Ms. Marvel.
It is great to see another fan of Jane Foster as Thor, honestly her story may be one of my all time favorite storylines in a comic right now. Ms Marvel is probably one of my favorites of the newer characters in Marvel alongside Gwenpool, Nadia Van Dyne as the Wasp, and Viv Vision. I like Bucky Barnes as Cap and Sam as Cap too, Steve is still my favorite to take up the mantle, but it is still cool to see someone else in the role. I would definitely suggest anything by Ed Brubaker for some good Bucky Barnes storylines.
I feel the same way you do too Drake. I LOVE Kamalah Khan as Ms.Marvel but my favorite has to be Nova Sam Alexander. These legacy titles these days are GREAT.
I'm a big fan of the phantom. Not only was he the first "hero in tights", but his entire story revolves around being a legacy hero.
The Robins are the best.
Another great video Drake!
Drake:"There is only one true successor to the cape and Cowl -
Me: Terry McGuinnes
Drake: "Dick Greyson"
Me. oh...
I am glad you still gave Terry McGuinnes an honorable mention.
Technically miles is a pass down of Spider-Man, as when Spider-Man saved him from the taxi in both timelines, miles timeline peter died, I believe, and miles took the name, in our peters timeline he hasn't died so he's still the Spider-Man. I know some people will say he didn't include miles because he's from a different dimension, but I just wanted to say.
X-23 is my absolute favourite!
Hey Drake, do you think you could talk about The Ghost Rider legacy in a video?
Drake, I've been watching your videos for a long time and I enjoy them. I'm mostly in agreement with the things you say here give or take one or two, but that's not why I decided to jump into the comments. I came here to say that it's SO nice to see you be so happy again. If I could find you, I'd give you the most epic hi five anyone's ever given you. :)
First off, I didn't mind the audio quality in the video. Second, I was always a huge fan of the Superior Spider-Man story. I'm really glad you brought it up.
No Lanterns, huh... enjoying Jessica Cruz myself.
Nice video bro, great editing.
Hey Drake loved the video! Glad to see you're doing better, keep up the good work!
This is a great list. Two thought that I thought of that were missing were the fourth Doctor Fate (Hector Hall) & the 3rd Spectre partner (Crispus Allen) Also thank you for the recommendation of the Question from here. I am going to read 52 sooner then I planned too now due to this list.
I enjoy the writing and stories of the new Thor too, but feel it 1. contradicts established history of who Thor is, and 2. changes both the original myths and the Marvel interpretations of them. What are your thoughts on this?
Another great video, keep it up! Digging the new hair, too!
I prefer Barry Allen over Wally West any day
7:35 anybody here after FatWS finale??
THE PHANTOM
I'm with you right there with Jane Foster as Thor, I just love the current story so much and find it all interesting. She is an amazing Thor and with her connection to the hammer, I'd go as far as to say that the hammer is truly hers, especially with Odinson most likely getting that Ultimate Hammer...eventually.
Speaking of which, never understood the anger about it by all the paranoid non readers whenever they repost the same comic panels of issues they didn't read. Heck stuff like it is really possible considering Steve Rogers in 2099 did it.
Sam Wilson and Steve both being Captain America just feels like it fits in the current landscape of America today. I can't truly explain it, but the whole "Divided we stand" from Marvel NOW just sounds right to me personally. But aside from that I love how Sam has to deal with the american media, where no matter what he'll do, both sides of whatever will try to spin his actions for their own agendas.
+Zeta Rise while I would agree with Sam Wilson being captain america is fine hell he'd be the one I pick if steve died. But Jane Foster yeah no its because Jane is Using Thor's NAME I would love to see Jane kick ass with powers but seeing the hammer do things for Jane and not the one it was made for and had to work for the right to wield it and for the way marvel has been treating Thor since then is disrespectful. Also the hammer being "truly hers" yeah I believe that as Quess being important in Char's counterattack or g-reco having a consistent plot.
I agree
I think the anger is mostly because Thor is not a mantle to take. it's a name. her being "Thor" makes no sense and it feels like a lazy and not well thought out way to introduce more females in Marvel despite the fact that they already have some amazing female characters like Invisible Woman, Carol Danvers Storm, Scarlet Witch, Jean Grey and more.
I agree with you, I thought she was a fun twist on the Thor comics
S-Boy THOR is a name and mantle.
u look good drake i'm glad to see u doin better :) great vid sir
this is your best work Drake
I recently found this channel and have really enjoyed your videos i'm glad i subscribed :)
In my opinion I think Tim is the true successor to Bruce like he said in batman Hush
"Dick saw being Robin a thrill. Its probably why he out grew it. Jason saw being Robin as a game. Its probably what got him killed. But...Tim...I have to hand it to the boy...He wants to be the worlds greatest detective and from what I've seen so far...he will someday"
Miles, alternate universes be damned, Miles is easily the best character to hold the mantle of Spider-man... in my opinion. Besides, he got to get the 616 reboot treatment... even got hi mom back (I have mixed feelings about that decision.)
+hauser1970 Miles isn't boring. Peter is easily one of the worst written characters of all time
+hauser1970 If miles Morales is so boring and not better than Miguel then why does Miles outsell Miguel
hauser1970 I propose we agree to disagree.
Bryan Carter Dude... don't bring sales into it. Just because one thing makes more money than another doesn't mean anything.
+VocalCalibration so is DC Rebirth not better than Marvel because DC Rebirth is doing better in sales?
Wally West was the greatest legacy character of all time, too bad they ruined it, by bringing Barry back (along with Barry's legacy).
Strangely, I actually liked Azrael as Batman
Great video mate.
Great video! Did justice to all of my favorite heroes! Would love to see a Ted Kord or Vic Sage video sometime!
Been reading comics a long time and I check out this site everyday!
Ted Kord is still the best Blue Beetle. Not to sound racist or anything, but Wally West pre-New 52 is the one we all know and love.
It’s not racist bro, I’m black and I agree 100%
I love the original wally west but I just love the character of Jaime Reyes
Nah Jaime Reyes is the best Blue Beetle! Better power, cooler look and better story
I don't have anything against Jane Fosthor, but I think she should get a new name instead of just Thor. Because Thor's name IS Thor.
I don't know about any other Thors because I don't read Marvel all that much, so don't attack me please.
In the run Jane Foster never called herself Thor. She didn't want to because Thor was Odinson's name. Thor was usually what everyone else called her and she didn't like it. It wasn't until Thor himself told Jane Foster to use his name not because she took mjolnir but because she had a job and duty to fulfill. And Thor stopped using his name because he thought his whole identity was in mjolnir. So he told Jane to use his name until he was worthy again to be called Thor.
My favorite Blue Beetle is Hime
I don't hate Jane Foster, I just think that it would be really cool if Thor was still Thor and Jane did what Beta Ray Bill did and got another hammer. I think she should not be a sidekick, more like a partner.
Comic Drake First of all, HOLY CRAP YOU RESPONDED TO ME THANK YOU! You are definitely my favorite Comic CZcamsrs and one of my favorite CZcamsrs in general! Secondly, I didn't know that because I don't really follow Marvel as much as I follow DC.
YPU RESPONDED YOU ARE SUOER COOOOOL!
BATMAN!!! nuff Said.
Hey Drake! Really like your content! But I wanted to know how do you show comic without texts and alterate it? I've always wanted to do comic reviews but don't want the video to get taken down.
I also really like Jane as Thor. She's has such an dynamic with Thor's world. She's a fun legacy hero
Dude, this is really good! Of course, that's to be expected from you. I would consider a followup video later down the line when you've read some other legacy stories, maybe even have one specifically FOR alternate continuities. I'd be down for that, would anyone else?
I really like the black canary legacy and the blue beetle legacy
Dorky and amusing, like all of your videos. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm watching enough of these that it'd be foolish not to subscribe. Peace and love 🕊
Well Disney decided on ‘Captain Falcon’ over ‘Captain Bucky’
Falcon was captain before bucky, go read sentinel of liberty in 1999 when Sam took the mantle with no wings.
I have also been loving the Scaret Spider series I have currently finished the 2nd issue and it is awesome!
your audio makes it sound like ur a robot and it's pretty epic
for me personally it's how the transition to fem Thor was handled not so much that a Jane foster took up the mantle
Yayyy!! Ms Marvel is still my fav
Good choices. I'm really glad Terry got a shot-out.
I won't begrudge anyone for liking JaneThor. However, it doesn't help to present strawmen of her critics. It'll never convince anyone to change their minds on her.
While I do agree there was generalization on Jane Thor’s critics, there is quite a loud voice, even if podsibly a minority, that uses “SJW” as a form of criticism. For those that do, it does damage the credibility of other critics as well sadly.
I love Falcon Captain America
like seriously don't even bother with Bucky Captain America
FALCON PUNCH!!! Just kidding.
If you guys want the history of all the blue bettles go watch linkara retrospective on him and he is also reviewing clone saga
Dick Grayson will remain the GOAT, also his Batman & Robin was written by Grant Morrison (destined of great story).
Jane Foster's Thor was great to read too, but nothing near Grayson's Batman.
Drake.
The Puns.
THE PUNS.
I swear, you are freaking hilarious.
Love Jane as Thor I even even like amodas cho as hulk, doc ocg is also my fave spider-man. Female captain America is my favorite captain America, and azreal is by far my personal favorite batman loved his version of the suit! John Stewart is my favorite green lantern.
Same I love the new Thor
I can't help but agree with you on almost all your choices. Although I only saw Sam Wilson as Captain America in Axis so I didn't really like him very much but that was one of the major points of the series. I only read Fear Itself to do with Bucky as Captain America and I enjoyed that series but there was not much Bucky in there. I suppose I did see him in Old Man Logan but that was very brief and only in a flashback. Neat fact, there is a bit of the story Fear Itself that takes place in the town of Salmon Arm, I live a few towns away from there! It was really neat to see such a small town show up in a Marvel Comic.
I actually prefer Jane foster to Thor if I’m being honest. Also the unworthy Thor is just badass.
cool vid... legacy villains?
2:17
"talking about the BAT family" (for some reason Superman and Hush are there)
just found that weird but funny
Love the mention of Young Justice... I won't lie, though I do read a ton of comic books, so much of my knowledge and opinions comes from YJ. I love that series to death and am so excited for season 3!
dude i love your channel. also, have you seen the movie dr horrible sing along blog? i love that movie and you said 'crazy random happenstance' which is in the movie. Just curious, i only know like 3 other people who have seen it.
super disagree with you on on Thor, the dialogue in the fight against absorbing man was the final straw that made quit reading most marvel books
Same here.
then come back because her legacy issues have been really good
Then you missed a hell of a Thor run it’s your loss.
As for legacies, the Flash and Robin mantles are my favorites, but for specific characters taking on legacy mantles, Kamala Khan, Tim Drake, Robbie Reyes, Jaime Reyes, Scott Lang, Miles Morales, and I'm positive I'm forgetting some!
We actually had 2 legacy characters in the Justice League cartoon if you include Jon Stewart who became Green Lantern after an accident took Guy Gardener out of the fight due to becoming comatose. Now Black Canary that's a tricky one but before Crisis on Infinite Earths she both was /and/ wasn't a legacy hero due to her mother passing her the mantle in the Earth the JSA called home but was the first Black Canary in the main DCU. Then there's Ben Reilly the first Scarlet Spider who became Spider-Man after MJ got pregnant so that Peter could be solely a father. Of course you also have X-23 as Wolverine now. I also liked Rachel Gray as Phoenix. Oh there's so many but my current fave Kitty Pryde as Star Lord
I wish they would stop yo-yoing the Bat Mantle these days. In the last few years we had Dick, then Bruce again, then Gordon, now Bruce again. I love the concept of Legacy characters, and the cowl is one of those things I'd really like to see passed off.
I also like Jane as Thor she’s bad ass
I’m a fan of how Amadeus Cho went for using an old Antman Helmet to becoming the Hulk like huge transformation much?
