Yondu in the comics was nothing like the movie Yondu. He was a semi-shamanistic warrior from Alpha Centauri who joined the original Guardians, the 30th century super-team Vance Astro was a member of (in the movies the original Guardians were more-or-less the core leaders of the Ravagers seen in GotG vol 2)

Update: Since the publishing of this video several others have come and gone through the roster
Ant-Man (Scott Lang) was briefly a member
Beta Ray Bill, an alien warrior with the powers of Thor, including his own uru hammer
Cosmic Ghost Rider, aka Frank Castle from an alternate universe, who had become the Spirit of Vengeance to try and stop his universe's Thanos
and Moondragon & Phyla-Vell from another alternate universe.
The current line-up (as of July 2019) is Starlord, Groot (who can now talk), Gamora, Beta Ray Bill, and the alternate Moondragon and Phyla-Vell. Drax is currently dead (again) while Rocket's whereabouts are unknown
Update Update: Beta Ray Bill is gone (for some reason. Never explained. At least from what I know of)

Drax is back (a clone I guess tho or another version of him)
Comic Drake, I would like to praise you for staying true to the comics. As a comic reader, I find it quite vexing that a lot of CZcams channels base their information around the movies and other adaptation works, which are still wonderful, but are focused on way too much, in my opinion. It is refreshing to watch a channel that always puts the source material first, unless otherwise specified. You are truly remarkable in that regard.
Man all the super hero groups are just revolving doors of whoever they feel like sticking in the comic.

Pretty much the only Marvel team with a consistent membership is the Fantastic Four, they occasionally have their temporary fill-ins while one of the regulars go off for some reason, but right from the start it's always been the Four
It's thanks to the revolving door of writers who prefer some characters and team members over others.

Short explanation, Cosmo was a dog sent up into space by the Russians during the early days of their space program. The Russians lost communications with the ship and thought it had malfunctioned and been destroyed, however what happened was the ship encountered some kind of random cosmic thing which sent it and Cosmo to Knowhere where he was mutated and given an advanced intelligence, enhanced longevity, and telepathy and served as Knowhere's security chief.

I legit forgot that Iron Man was a Guardian at one point! Now, seeing him interact with Star-Lord & the Guardians gets 100 times better in Infinity War.

Wasn't Moondragon at one time a member of the X-Men? I seem to remember Angel and Iceman having crushes on her, and that she had to wear a psychic headband to control her "brain blasts", similar to Cyclops needing his visor to control his eye-beams. Or am I getting confused once again?
