You're the only video that actually talked about compressors for airbrushes so thank you for that!
You've inspired me to dig out my airbrush and try it again. I haven't used it in probably 15 years back when I used to do scale-modeling. Thankfully, I did a couple of tests this morning and everything still works!
Super convenient video since me and my brother were talking about me starting airbrushing last night. Awesome, defiantly looking into that starter kit, seems the right place to begin :) Many thanks Bill!
Thanks Bill! You have inspired my wife and I to pull out our airbrushes and get better with them.
My dad has done automotive paint for the past like 30 years so he's showed me a lot of tips and tricks. Definitely want to start on my props!
Thanks dude! Finally a straightforward and no-bs video about the basics of airbrushing!!!!
Really helpful! thanks for taking the time to make this fellow airbrusher!
your timing is perfect for this bill. I've been looking up airbrushes on amazon. thanks for the info. help me out alot.
Awesome. Been wanting one of these, and now I think I will go get one. Thanks Bill!
Great air brush painting video. I will so send folks to this!
Thanks for putting this out Bill!
This is such a useful video! thank you, i have been looking for a good video bout this, you have really helped thanks!
Im in the UK. This video crosses the Atlantic well. The humour is dry and there is no beating around the bush. This guy is straight in with the hints and tips. His work is also cool.
I just bought an airbrush with an air compressor after years of painting props and armor by hand and had no idea where to start, I know this video is a bit old, but it has helped me understand much more how I should treat and start using it ~ Thank you :D
Thanks for this informative, and straight to the point video man, just picked up a small desktop compressor + airbrush kit for detailing model kits, and this 8 minute long video helped me a lot.
Hey Bill,
Great video!
You may want to note that using an ultrasonic cleaner on aluminum may cause pitting just encase your airbrush has aluminum parts.
I learned this the hard way!
Most informative video on this topic, thus far. Jeez. Thank you.
VERY KOOL & THOROUGH TUTORIAL
ALONG WITH THE BREAK AWAYS TO
THE INSERTED CLIPS ALSO....
WELL DONE 👏🏼 .....
Thanks so much for the update video, I learned a lot! I just got an airbrush and compressor last week as a gift and this weekend I'll be using it for the first time to paint a foam feathered corset gold with metallic gilt. I'm watching all your airbrush videos along with Kamui's and other awesome folks so I have some ideas how to tackle this project before I get started!
Splendid!
Love your videos, good stuff! I have a brand new Iwata airbrush but my old compressor ended up breaking so need to shop for a new one! Thanks!
Thanks for the great tips, doesn't seem too hard at all to get into airbrushing!
oh my god such perfect timing!! I've been looking into getting an air brush. Gonna like the video before I even watch it ^__^
Thank you very much for this video. My wife got an airbrush for costume makeup, and we didn't clean it very well. It's nice to know that's not the end of the world for that nice piece of equipment.
Nice work! So much more to learn.
Great explanatory video👏👏👏
Thanks for the info Bill . Looking to get into airbrushing so this really helped . You're awesome ! Keep up the great work :)
thank u was helpful I have jst got into prop bilding and air brushing glad u r hear for tips
Thanks for another great video, Bill! :D And what a coincidence, I finally got started using my airbrush this weekend, and ordered another one earlier today! (Aw, darn. Wish I'd watched this sooner. That Master Airbrush S62 is the one I just ordered... Next time!)
Bought my first air compressor today, found this video, THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this Video. I want to buy an Airbrush this month and i was aiming for a cheap kit with kompressor, but there are so many people out there who are saying: buy a good, expensive one.But iam not a pro at painting and i want to try out first, so you really boosted my decision :)
outstanding video
Just bought an airbrush kit with 2 different gravity feeds, and 1 siphon feed and a little compressor. So I'm crash coursing airbrush videos right now! Thanks Bill and co.!
That's fantastic! You're gonna have so much fun!
Great to see someone actually saying siphon airbrush isn't a stupid choice :)
I love mine!
I always look forward to your videos!! Learn so much :) I think I need to get an airbrush, it looks so much fun!!
Thanks man I got so lost with all the drama and research. I need it a pro opinion and this is the best.
Thanks
You covered a lot in 8 minutes. I appreciate you uploading this.
Happy to help out!
Thanks for another awesome tutorial. Your mold series helped me a ton when making my own simple molds.
This video really makes me want to get more into airbrushing, but I'm not sure what the best times to use it compared to other techniques. You touch on it here but would you ever do a follow up video going into more detail on some different techniques or use cases where air brushing is ideal?
I go out right now!
and buy one as soon as i got the money... ..Great video btw. ♥
Great video
I'm about to start painting my Phasma armor! I've never used an airbrush before so this tutorial came at the right time! Perfect as always. thank you!
Oh it's been an adventure that's for sure! Ready to be done with it so I can start my Rogue One Death Trooper hahaha.
Very educating video, thanks.....!!!!!!
Thanks for this! I just started using my Airbrush (Cheapest thing I could get just to see if I would use it). I defiantly recommend the compressor type and not the Air can type like I got (unless you need to move around a whole lot and have money to burn).
Thanks again!
Sounds like fun!
Good stuff !
Thanks for video great stuff
Just getting into the airbrush scene myself, video explained the basics very well. Learned quite a few new things that will help along the way, thanks a bunch for the info..!! Liked and subbed..!!
You're welcome!
Great job!
Thanks!
thanks so much, great video!!
I just bought one that I'm waiting on now. First one. Very good tips in this video. Thank you.
You're so welcome!
Thank you for making the video !
You're welcome!
I just pulled a air brush outta a old garage ,symphone Canada pro-fix ,I’ve always used a spray bomb for my kits and brushes ,tooth pics such for tiny trim .. this video showed me a whole lot more knowledge to get outta the old way to the new to me way .. thx for this .. moparmaniacjohnny
You're so welcome!
I've been thinking of getting an airbrush and the beginner kit you linked is the exact kit I was looking at to start with. I guess it's a good choice for knowing nothing about airbrushes and picking it because it's a good deal.
Cool, thanks for the advice.
Great Vid, now with the weather getting nicer and being stuck at home, I gotta bust out the airbrush I got for xmas and get going with it. Thank you!
Heck yeah!
Thanks! This was very helpful
You're so welcome!
Excellent informative video
Glad it was helpful!
Super, thank you!
Yes this was very infomative
Thanks Bill I have been struggling with analysis paralysis when it comes to airbrushes for quite some time. I wanted one but I was just to intimidated by them.
Love the relaxed commentry, am just starting out, I know its an old video but thanks
You're welcome!
Thanks for this Bill, I really appreciate it! Is it necessary to use an airbrush in a ventilated place or in a paint booth?
Could you do a thing about the use of that Tamiya Paint? I have a really hard time getting good coats when brushing it on. General pointers on use and maintenance would be helpful.
i have the same kit, thanks for the review. I did everything wrong, thanks for explaining them step by step. It was very helpful
Happy to help!
prefect timing. I bought the cheap harbor freight air brush yesterday. Glad to know I had the right idea to start cheap just to see how it goes. Thanks Bill. How did Brit's costume come out for ComiCon?
Interested in learning airbrush. Your video has me moving into the challenge with more confidence than before. At 62 and extremely old school. Building high end custom fishing rods/tackle. Changes can be quite a fear factor. From the very beginning my world has been basic aerosol hobby paints. I'm convinced airbrush is going to allow me the detailing techniques I've been in search of. If nothing else mabe just getting a break from the obnoxious marble in each can as well as the ridiculously expensive camel hair brush
You can do it!
Best CZcams video for airbrushed! Thank you ! New subscriber thanx
Glad you liked it!
Thank you 🙏
I bought my first Airbrush to paint the motor in my Cobra Mustang.. It worked perfect.. I only had to tape off a couple things. The Airbrush was very accurate and neat, The motor looked like new.. So, little by little, I ended up painting most everything else under the hood.. It really did look great.. An Airbush was the perfect tool for the Job..
That is fantastic!
great video dude! saved me some money to get goin with it! can you water down regular acrylic such as golden or house paint? that'd be fantastic, cause I got a TON of it to use! thanks for the info
Hey Bill! I just picked up the ultrasonic cleaner you linked. Do you dilute the all-purpose cleaning solvent? Most large jugs are concentrated.
I just picked up a bunch of stuff using your Amazon links Bill. Please have a beer on me!
as latex acts on the compressor? it can be enough to dilute or simply use another washer?
Man i love all your videos, keep up the good work. Will you recomend buying a bit more expensive compressor, with a tank included? I think that without a tank the compressor would burn or damage itslef by the constant use.
Thanks for posting this. I just picked up an airbrush from Harbor Freight and had no clue how to get started. Do I need to clean the airbrush between the various paints I am using in the same session?
For painting sword, any tips I need to know about the airbrush, such as pressure level, size of nozzle, etc. Thanks
Thx for info :)
I purchased a dual-action "Central Pneumatic," dual action airbrush from Harbor Freight Tools for about $24. I also purchased a small "Tool Shop" compressor from Menards for about $45 so my total outlay is under $100. I don't want to buy an Iwata, Paasche, or Sata Airbrush until I get the hang of things. I am excited. Thank you for your fine video. Is some of your work from LOTR?? I am looking more for automotive applications.
Awesome, can it be used to speay glazed mugs ? Thanks 😊
Hey! Great video! I was wondering what you would recommend for a single-action siphon airbrush with the largest nozzle possible?
Thanks!
Be careful about using Simple Green to clean if you have aluminum parts in your airbrush. Most will not but something to look for. Use the purple Simple Green if you do have aluminum to clean. Great video, very informative!
Hey man awesome video, it’s helped me loads!
One question is about airbrushing lacquer that you mentioned. It’s a broad question; how the heck did you do it? I’ve been told it’s fairly impossible as lacquer is too thick. Is there a special lacquer that’s moderately hard wearing?
Cheers
Jools
Thanks, Chinbeard! Just getting back into modeling, never actually airbrushed, so the video helped.
Love the show though,
Scoobydad in the tadpool
You're welcome! =D
Hi, great video. Good explanation. Just one question from my side. If you are in a painting process, let's say highlights, a bit white here, a bit black there. Do you have to clean the airbrush each time you change a color or just when you finished with the work?
what would you recommend for a quieter cheaper compressor?
Good video. I like that you don't poopoo cheap airbrushes. :P
thanks so much for it i want so long to buy one but i don´t do it now because i don´t know with is good but you say a chepper is also good then i try to buy one and can look how it works x3~
any advice for painting acrylic sheets ? i want to modify my pc case and give it a weathered metal look
I have plans to use one to repaint my van and also use them to add details with stencils. :D - Heidi
***** I might try actually painting something myself but we will see. I have actually had a book on how to do it for years now. I found it in a half price books. :P I definitely want a dragon on the side of my van somewhere.
Hi
Can I use a Airbrush to paint some spots on my car front bumper, using car paint and clear coat?
Thanks
Do you use rubbing alcohol to clean your airbrush even when you use water based paints? And if so, do you find that rubbing alcohol is more effective at cleaning an airbrush? Or is it wiser to follow the rule of thumb of using an appropriate solvent per the paint used?
Do I need a filter inline for airbrushing... Thank you
How do you quickly change colors when airbrushing? Do you just have multiple air brushes or can you just swap the little paint thing over?
The quickest way is multiple airbrushes. Otherwise you'd have to empty out and clean it between colours.
Barnacules Nerdgasm ooh it's barnacules
This is an old question, but the best brush for quick changes is a gravity fed airbrush as opposed to a siphon feed.
any wide spread nozzles for your air brush? I want something similar to a rattle can.
Hey Bill, I was wondering... Can you use these types of Airbrushes, say like the one from harbor freight, for makeup appliances as well as paint appliances or is that a different kind of airbrush? Just wondering.
This is good for starters
Thanks for watching!
Best place for an air hose for a Wren Binks? I have a normal Emglo compressor.
Thanks for pointing me here, pal. Illuminating stuff.
No problem!
what cleaner did you use for ultra sonic???
How to connect that airbrush to garage 80l high flow compressor? If possible link to that adapter
Iv just started got one of each spray gun but found my gravity feed one works better. The new bottle pump ones don’t spray very well if your compressor is small like mine 25 psi
man, i had that exact same siphon fed airbrush and i could NEVER get it to work right; no matter how much i thinned my paint or what brand i used, it would always clog up at even the slightest thing. i recently switched to a gravity fed one and it's sooooo much better!
