Last time I was there was in 1997 with my 2 lads, when we all climbed Ben Nevis for the first time, they were only 11 and 14 and it was a blisteringly hot day but the views from the top were amazing. One thing for sure it is never a quiet trail anymore now, I started at 07.00 last time I did it about 18 months ago and I was amazed at how many people were already on the trail. I well remember that bolder section, a right leg twister. Weather and views looked amazing and always nice to get a clear summit, cheers Alan

Thanks for your comments, Alan much appreciated mate. Would do it again if one of my lads wanted to go but not by myself again. Just a bit far from Manchester tbh

Nice going, enjoyed this. I tried and failed in March. The torrential rain all the way up turned into whiteout snow at around the third zig-zag and I had to turn back, couldn’t even see the ground it was coming down that hard. I only spotted 2 other idiots up the mountain that day so it’s interesting seeing it busy. I stayed at the same campsite as you and had a great week despite the weather, Fort William is a great wee town.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't make it. Yes, it has to be summer, really to guarantee a summit, and even in summer there is no real guarantee with Nevis

I grew up in the west country so always went to Snowdon, but Ben Nevis looks awesome! Thank you for sharing

You should get yourself up to Nevis, but best tip is summer for decent weather. It can be horrendous up there in bad weather

@greeno6064 Great video and lovely day for the Ben! I hope walkers have their winter gear with them this week mid June snow forecast and wind chill temperatures down to minus Ten! Weather reporters should mention this as it could detere the ill prepaid for this weekend. Cheers

Never seen the summit in summer. First time there was so much that we had to dig down to the shelter, second one was just a few feet thick and had to climb up to the shelter.
Enjoyed the video and couldn’t believe how many were visiting it😱

Thanks fir your comments much appreciated. Coming down Nevis when it was so hot was brutal. There was 1 guy with his dog (marmoot) over his shoulders that just gave up couldn't take the heat coming down

I hiked up Ben Nevis last Saturday. Stayed in Glen Nevis campsite Friday to Sunday. Rained from the moment we got there til we left. All the waterfalls were in full flow on the mountain. Visibility was about 10 meters once we got near the top. 40mph winds, fog and -6⁰C at the summit... wish I went when you did 😂😂... most of the snow was gone though. Definitely not as much as when you went up.

It was early june when i went and by all accounts it was an unusal long 2/3 week period of great weather. I did the west highland way the week leading up to the hike up Nevis and weather was amazing

I’ve climbed many of the Scottish Munro’s, it’s not unusual to see snow in August / September from the previous winter. One year there was 9 meters on the Cairngorms, folk were sunbathing in July near Inverness, while the ski slope was going like a fare

It's not unusual for snow at the top also not unusual, on a rainy, windy day, when gaining the top from the Carn Mor Dearg arête for it to be raining up the way! That "higher" building is the summit emergency shelter. It is built up to stay as clear of the snowfall as possible but is often under the snow! The other buildings are, historically, a hotel which was built in the late 1800s and the remains of the Meteorological Observatory.

Wow thanks for the info, guessed it was some type of emergency shelter but had no idea what the other building ruins were
