Is that a blue or red? Also what month was it for the snow to be poor?
what’s ur coordinates of this spot
Do you have what 3 words?
Rather damp eh!? How do you find the Bunkhouse as an experience? G♥️🏴
It was ok, never slept in a bunkhouse before. Was a bit weird sleeping in a 2 bed room with a complete stranger but it was ok.. was really looking forward to that camp spot too. I will camp there this year but further up away from thecriver bend nearcwhere you camped looked a good spot
I was going to go there in mid March, but has a bit of an accident before then, and twisted my left leg a bit, and couldn't put much weight on it, so cancelled the holiday. Never mind, the mountains won't go away, and the snow will be back next season.
Oh no thats so dissapointing. Your right they will still be there next year and hopefully so will i
Glad you enjoyed the video Chris. If you are refering to Cashel campsite then no there is no cooked food onsite. I will say the site has changed hands since this video and the little shop onsite does now have a much better selection of stuff you can buy including burgers you can microwave in the shop itself so well done to the new owners
Some fantastic information, just what I needed to know. I’m booked in there for one night camping at the end of May on my WHW hike. I will now make sure I take something for my tea. Thank you for the information, much appreciated, kind regards Chris. 🍻👍👍👍
Ermm the music is actually titled as skiing and snowboard music online 😊
And Sleep upright on a coach? Overnight? No thanks.
La vidéo sympa même si je pense que tu peux envoyer plus ! Par contre tes choix musicaux 🤣 désolé c’est à chier
Where did the coach run from?
I found a reasonable overnight coach, just a thought. It took me right to the resort.
A great video that captures an inspiring trip. Amazing.
What a wet trek….. what time of year did you walk it? I am planning to do it mid September and would hope for some dryer weather.
Well you might want to reconsider lol. That was filmed 25 September this year and weather was really bad. I also did this hike in early june this year and weather was fantastic. See my other video entitled "return to the amazing west highland way during a heatwave". Best time for weather is usually April may june. July and august is midge time
I'm sure I went here in the 80s with my primary school???
You may well have done its been around a long time. Still great fun and a great weekend
Great views of the slopes but ruined with the crappy rap music
Ahh sorry you didnt like the music but thanks for watching. I only edit the videos on my phone so my choice of music is limited. I dont have a big fancy editing app on a laptop like some unfortunately. I alwas find silent skiing videos a but boring so try to stick something on in the background
Hi enjoying your video of your WHW walk. However, I think your editing when a bit worry? At 20:36 you have to limbo under the railway line which cames before Strathfillan Wigwam and not after them. But thank you for the videos it reminds me of when i did the WHW.
Hi Andy, i know, although your the first to mention it, 🤣 I thought i got away with it. I only edit my videos on my phone using capcut. Just occasionally it will take a clip out of order when i drop them in. I try real hard to check before uploading but only noticed after. Cba to redo the whole thing again as took me ages. Thanks for watching though
Wow, respect to you for completing the walk in that weather, I don’t think it stopped raining for you for more than a few minutes. I hope you got somewhere to stay in Fort William to rest and dry off before your journey back home. Filming as well in that weather you deserve a medal, well done, very enjoyable and much appreciate your film, thank you. 🍻👍👍
Thanks for the great nessage, yes it was a bad one this time weather wise. I had previously done the WHW in the month of june and weather was fantastic. Its a totally different hike in the rain. And yes, treated myself to a hotel called base camp i think, last minute decision as ibwas soaked and it was a great place, just at bottom of the gondola
Wow. You really lucked out with the weather there mate. 😂 Shocking that your jacket wasn't up to the task. Waterproofs seem to be a minefield. Well done on completing it (again) though mate. Especially with that weather. I can't wait to get back out there.
Sorry i missed this comment, thanks for watching. Yea it was just relentlessly bad, wayerproofs are a minefield your right. I hiked it in june tooand weather was amazing
Thank you for the videos, what a different the weather makes. I did the WHW first time in May 2018 and it was during a heat wave, then I did it in t-shirt and shorts. I found the Loch Lomond section to be the hardest on the WHW. Especially trying to squeaze between two large rocks. Also limbo dancing under the railway LOL. Beinglas campsite is a good one, you can even hire clean towels to have a shower.
I know, also did whw in June this year ( yes i know ) and it was heatwave, i got a great tan. The difference between the 2 hikes was massive. And yes i remember those 2 rocks, it was rucksack off to get through there 😆
I camped at the Pinewood campsite in 2018 on my LEJOG and camped there on 2022 when walking the WHW north to south. I wild camped on the other side to where you camped at Inveroran. On Rannoch Moor at Ba Bridge and just before Kingshouse are two great wild camping spots.
Dont know pinewood campsite where is that? And well done on LEJOG, that must have been tough
What a beautiful scenery my friend 👏👏
Thats a big compliment having seen some of your hiking videos thank you
What’s with the crap background music ?. You may be in Scotland but it sounds rubbish as it sooo quiet 🙄
Haha, just some scottish music for the background for when theres no talking. It has to be relatively quiet or it will be gard to hear me when im talking. I dont know how to make the volume go up and down at various times as im not a professional editor i just edit on my phone, but thanks for watching
😂 you worry too much if its a good tent its well capable of holding out the water from below.Chill out ,relax and put a brew on and enjoy rain sound on tent
Its a reasonable good, inexpensive tent. My main worry was the river rising rapidly over the previos 2 or 3 hours since i arrived. Had to decide to stay or leave as it was getting dark, there were only 2 rooms left in the bunkhouse and the forecast was for very heavy rain and wind all evening. I will be confident now for the future as long as away from a riverbank and the tent is great, its the naturehike cloud up 2. Bargain at around £120
Beautiful place, was up there last year panning for gold , 👍just subscribed to your channel and will tell my mate too as well 👍and that red mushroom was a fly agaric I think, sometimes the white spots on them come off in heavy rain👍
Thanks for watching, yes i tried and failed to discover what that mushroom was
kudos from an old swiss lady who climbed many mountains in her home country and france.
Thank you Marianne, much appreciated. It was my first time for Ben Nevis and im no spring chicken either, Im 63. Thanks for watching
Very enjoyable video mate. You present really well and was nice to see some of the potential wild camping spots. I attempted the WHW earlier this year, but had to bail on day three as I got food poisoning. 🤮 Attempt number two will hopefully be in April. Subscribed to your channel and will go back and watch the others. 👍
Wow what an amazing coincidence. I watched your video and felt really bad for you. Its our worse nightmare getting sick or injured when out solo isnt it. You were enjoying it so much until that point and i bet the rowardennan hotel cost a packet. Definitely go back and do it again, i am. Just posted the last leg of the journey now, i hot absolutely drenched
@@greeno6064 Ha ha, thanks mate. Yeah wasn't the best. Mind you, I was glad I was on my own and not in a Hostel or something. That would have been embarrassing. But yes, the Rowardennan was about £120, then I had to get a taxi to the airport and change my flights. I think it all cost me at least £300 extra. 🤦♂ I'm just watching your latest video now. 👍
@trickofthetrail wow thats expensive. Thanks for watching too, audio not the best on the last leg, it rained so hard i think there must have been a bit of water in the microphone holes in the gopro. I also did it in june this year and weather was amazing so planning to go back next june
Nice video and great conditions 🙂👌💧
Thank you
Done West Highland way this year up and down loved it ❤ I was disappointed you didn't feature the sign on the right hand side @5:57 into video it tickled me. Those who have done the west Highland way know what I am talking about 😂😂😂
Ahhh just checked to see what what at that timeline, yes your right i missed it this time around but i do remember it from a previous trip. Someone has a good sense of humour dont they 😆
@@greeno6064 they sure do 😂👍
Brilliant video mate , I loved the music , can you tell me the band you played
Thanks for watching, much appreciated, the music i downloadedof youtube. It doesnt show me the artist in my download file but if you give me your email address i can email you the link
Sounds like Ossian
Love the video! What date was this? We just came back and had tons of rain as well.
Thanks for watching Don, the date we were at kingshouse was 24 September. Rain and wind that night was really bad, tent was still standing in the morning which was good but flooding around the rent was the issue. There was only 2 spots left in the bunkhouse when i asked and steve, the guy in the other tent you can see bagged the last room after getting flooded out too
@@greeno6064Ah thanks! That must have been the night when Beinglas campsite flooded as well. We started the 25th from Milngavie, and they told us about terrible floods a few days prior when we arrived at Beinglas on our 3rd day.
fantastic.
Thanks for watching and the comment
What a stunning landscapes bud, outstanding adventure! 👏👏
Thanks for watching, much appreciated. Lovevthe west highland way 3 times in last 3 years
Very good. Just finished a 7 day trip last week
Well done, i take my hat off to anyone that completes the WHW, it tough in places especially the last leg from kinlochleven to fort william
Well done, its tough at times especially the last day
Done that run many times, it's not a blue but marked as one as it's the run down from the follie. I'm sure some money changed hands to downgrade it from red to blue. Fantastic run but don't go near it on seasonaire opening party days.... I spent the entire run avoiding out of control or fallen drunks and red patches of snow!
Haha, never thought of that but you are probably right there
Greeno - You definitely have a honest and captivating way about your vids. Keep it up!
Cheers Mike, appreciate the comments, thanks for watching
Great video mate, really made me want to go back and do it again.
Ahh mate, love the WHW, done it twice this year and despite the rain im definitely going back again next year
Hi Greeno.. super content and hike.. Good luck
Thanks Runny, appreciate the Comment. It was definitely a wet start to the WHW.
how much was the trip from geneve train station to tignes?
I took a train from geneva to bourg st maurice changing at chambery and it cost €28 which is way cheaper than anybother method. I then caught a bus from bourg st maurice to Tignes for around €9. It was all really very very easy
Great video pal
It's not unusual for snow at the top also not unusual, on a rainy, windy day, when gaining the top from the Carn Mor Dearg arête for it to be raining up the way! That "higher" building is the summit emergency shelter. It is built up to stay as clear of the snowfall as possible but is often under the snow! The other buildings are, historically, a hotel which was built in the late 1800s and the remains of the Meteorological Observatory.
Wow thanks for the info, guessed it was some type of emergency shelter but had no idea what the other building ruins were
Thanks. This is the best video of the ascent of Ben Nevis I have seen. Congratulations mate we’ll done.
Thanks, really appreciate that 👍
Absolutely majestic spot bud, this upload is filmed so nicely!
Thank you much appreciated pal
Great spot, great camp! Looks like you all really enjoyed yourselves. Thanks for the upload and sharing the experience.
It was an amazing spot, only slightly spoilt it to be fair. The bench area was far better to chill, had it rained it would have been a problem though
Amazing views
Excellent camping spot and only 30 minutes walk from the car
Another great hike man! The scenery out there is just unbelievable!
Thany you much appreciated
Awesome, looks like a great time!
It was, to be fair I hadn't intended to do a video for it as it was a last minute decision to go camping and my son always complains when I take my go pro out so it was a very quickly put together video on my phone so not the greatest quality but thanks for watching anyway. Best thing about this camping spot was only about 25 minutes walk from where we parked
@@greeno6064 take care
Very nice, the scenery is awesome. Excellent video.
Thanks Dave, much appreciated. I just document my trips for the kids for the future rather than as a "youtuber" but it's great to see other people enjoy them too. West highland way is absolutely amazing I can't wait to get out there and do it again
@@greeno6064 outstanding
I’ve climbed many of the Scottish Munro’s, it’s not unusual to see snow in August / September from the previous winter. One year there was 9 meters on the Cairngorms, folk were sunbathing in July near Inverness, while the ski slope was going like a fare
Thanks for the watch, really appreciated. I'm really hoping to do it again next year I enjoyed it so much
I hiked up Ben Nevis last Saturday. Stayed in Glen Nevis campsite Friday to Sunday. Rained from the moment we got there til we left. All the waterfalls were in full flow on the mountain. Visibility was about 10 meters once we got near the top. 40mph winds, fog and -6⁰C at the summit... wish I went when you did 😂😂... most of the snow was gone though. Definitely not as much as when you went up.
It was early june when i went and by all accounts it was an unusal long 2/3 week period of great weather. I did the west highland way the week leading up to the hike up Nevis and weather was amazing
Last time I was there was in 1997 with my 2 lads, when we all climbed Ben Nevis for the first time, they were only 11 and 14 and it was a blisteringly hot day but the views from the top were amazing. One thing for sure it is never a quiet trail anymore now, I started at 07.00 last time I did it about 18 months ago and I was amazed at how many people were already on the trail. I well remember that bolder section, a right leg twister. Weather and views looked amazing and always nice to get a clear summit, cheers Alan
Thanks for your comments, Alan much appreciated mate. Would do it again if one of my lads wanted to go but not by myself again. Just a bit far from Manchester tbh
Nice going, enjoyed this. I tried and failed in March. The torrential rain all the way up turned into whiteout snow at around the third zig-zag and I had to turn back, couldn’t even see the ground it was coming down that hard. I only spotted 2 other idiots up the mountain that day so it’s interesting seeing it busy. I stayed at the same campsite as you and had a great week despite the weather, Fort William is a great wee town.
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't make it. Yes, it has to be summer, really to guarantee a summit, and even in summer there is no real guarantee with Nevis
