Love Factor! I eat it everyday. Makes life easier
Tell Factor to give you a raise. I actually watched the ad. I'm a cook by profession so I'll have to pass but... I WATCHED AND ENJOYED A CZcams AD. ✌💗🤘
@@Typical.Anomaly I love to cook and Factor75 is the kind of thing I'd scoff at normally - what a waste of money, it's not even like hello fresh (who owns them), it's just like supposedly healthy TV dinners at a premium! Well, the premium isn't so big after the latest round of pandemiflation, and their food ranges from fine to "actually legitimately look forward to eating it" good, and it's probably made me eat more vegetables than I've ever eaten in my life otherwise. I've been using them for several years and have no intention of stopping.
Hey Charles. I was wondering what level Patron is needed to access the bass lessons videos?
Have been home practicing bass for around 10yrs, but been stuck in a rut the last couple.. So would love access to something new to focus on learning and get me out of this rut.
Oh Charles get beer bottlecaps 4 pick there great on all but nylon😅😊
missing plugin was the most epic part
My favourite part too, I do love a surprise 🤣
Could be the track name
Factor beat box was my favorite
it happens to everyone. im a pro video editor and ive seen it show up on a final export for client delivery and shit my pants. thank god i sent it out late night and got up early am to fix it. good times.@@CharlesBerthoud
A lot of people have found these missing?? hope we all find our plug ins soon, so empty without them. why wasnt that on the news? plugin theft is a serious crime.
Slap Bass with that level of distortion genuinely gives me chills. Also seeing metal played with literal metal fretboards is a truly poetic touch. Cheers man!
I'd listen to this on Spotify. Gives me a little bit of playing god vibes
@@gustavskavacs9991 If you dig this, you should check out The Omnific. It's two bassists and a drummer and their sound is very similar. They go hard!
Listen to nuclear power trio man! if you like this you will love them!
Lol distortion ?. It's funny because Charles and Davie don't give a crap and will slap anything, I am the same. I have a Fender BG29 from the late 1990's, love it play it all the time short scale acoustic, great to grab and play and I keep it out of the case on a floor stand. I think I payed 590$ before tax, way back in the 1990's, so like 650$ out the door. It's not a Kingman, much different overall. It does suck going from 30 to 34 scale, but whatever not horrible. The wood is sort of bowed by the bridge area now, makes the action high.
This will STEEL the number one spot on metal charts. You don’t need to fret. It’s right in that NECK of the woods
I’m starting to PICKUP a running trend in this comment
Honestly it’s so self explanatory it’s just frankly BASSic
PUNtastic!
@@Killerean the new pun extension for your bass
Thanks Dad
Evil Bass Riff sounds like it's channeling Dream Theater's Stream of Consciousness and I gotta say it's doing the work.
It definitely sounds a lot like Stream of Consciousness!
1000% Was looking for this comment haha

Man, I knew that there was something there. I was clicking through clips of Liquid Tension Experiment tracks trying to figure it out. Nice job!
It was impossible not to notice the similarity. Amazing song and the theme fits well here as well.
you are truly one of the few bassists in the WORLD that can create natural and artifical harmonics so PERFECTLY. Your harmonics and association with the melody is truly awe-inspiring.
I’d say he’s the best bassist in the internet rn
@@zeth4107 Oh yeah, I agree. I think Charles and Victor Wooten are debatably the two best best players ever!
@@mjmason75 faxx
@@mjmason75If not the best bassists, at least best lead bassists.
yo cant believe hes making so many metal bass videos, im really enjoying these and i hope he continues making more
My favorite part is when the plugin is missing
EDIT : That sponsor part was awesome, the way "instruments" add up progressively... Amazing ! The first 5mn of the video are cool too I guess
Let's be honest, this guy is one of the highest quality musicians-players alive.
Totally true
What an incredible squeeze you make out of that fretless 6 string, it's already amazing but you make it even more alienlike with the tone and the execution ! Crazy good as always Charles, I had to instantly re-listen 3 times in a row !.
It's cloud metal from the famous manga "Yo koka is ok in the spring"
Gotta love those factory meal beat that the factory delivers together with the meal itself.
*I get a notification of a new Charles video, everything else can wait.*
That's a good rule for life 👍🏻
@@CharlesBerthoud🤟🍻
@@CharlesBerthoud if your wife also does this, you are a lucky man! 😰😎
Now, I just need a whole album like this. Also, do a whole album with Marcin Patrzalek. That would be fire. 🔥
Clearly a top three contender of your tunes, this song. As frantic as some parts all they fit together very harmoniously. Great one, Charles.
Glad to see someone using missing plugin. That one is my favorite.
Much better sounding than Found Plugin, in my opinion.
Omg okay I thought something was wrong with my computer lmfao
Charles is becoming a complete one man band now , truly remarkable and very impressive . Thanks for the amazing music and all the effort you put in making these videos for us to enjoy .
I'm absolutely loving the stream of metal arrangements from you recently, your compositions are superb and don't go overboard IMO.
They hit hard while keeping a nice flowing melody. Also the use of harmonics is so masterful, you're a guru of technique! Keep it up!
Charles does his crazy magic again!🔥 Listening to you as you brainstorm your creation from scratch is more satisfying than any finished product being put out lately. And your playing is just amazing. Thank you for this gift to the musical world
Awesome
Obscura had legendary fretless bass on earlier records 👌
Lets add First Fragment here. Some nice latin influence mixed with neo-classical melodies and riffs, with Forest LaPointes delicious fretless work.
@@AlexisRoucourt JPT is ijnhumanly good. The fuckin reason I picked up fretless and never went back. Not to mention Hannes is the best songwriter the genre has ever seen imo
I dream of the day when Charles uploads all his originals to Spotify.
I think they're all on patron, so you could download all of them for probably a dollar
Nice song sounds awesome, love the missing plugin part.
The 7.Evil bass riff at 4:01 is a part from "Stream of consciousness" 's riff by Dream Theater
Just goes to show that Death was the perfect metal band back in the day. Steve DiGiorgio's fretless bass work on the Individual Thought Patterns album and a cloud formation intro to the instrumental track "Cosmic Sea" on the Human album, which features a bass solo from Steve DiGiorgio.
I came here to mention Steve DiGiorgio, and I'm glad he's already been mentioned!!!
@@FarmerHatBeardsame
The more you merge into the sound and become one with it, you begin to find music in the simplest things and make them complex. Each video is more than enjoyable hypnotism. Without a doubt the soul vibrates. Thanks for sharing!
Do we all agree that this song has to be named "Missing Plugin", right?
Great video man!
Really dig the use of spoken word in the second song. Not enough musicians are willing to take that kind of chance.
Dude that opening melody is slick af and lives rent-free in my head now. Hearing it done first with harmonics and then in picked in the upper register of the instrument was freaking dope.
I can't stress enough how this video is. The sensations are , , !!! You are Charles! 🔥
I love it, it's almost "Castelvania: Symphony of the Night" boss fight-esque. I could never though, the fingerprints on the metal fretboard would driver me insane.
Oooh, that made me think what if The Consouls did a collab with Charles for some epic vgm jazz 👀
You know it's nice to hear something else than just the open E over and over again. Also, do you dare to tackle the Chapman stick?
I am sooo glad you had the sense to not go for the "angry guy with throat cancer" vocal.
Man this was fantastic. One of my favorite Charles compositions so far. That fretless bass solo was freaking awesome.
Very strong Dream Theater vibes from this one :)
One of the bits is literally a Dream Theater riff.
Fretless Dream Theater does not sound bad at all. Rock on!
Patrick: "Is microwave an instrument?"
Charles: "Yes, Patrick, microwave is an instrument."
This is awesome! I'm glad he's actually showing us his process of composing these songs now too. I got a 5 string recently that's actually a lefty that someone flipped to right but it sounds amazing and it works well for tapping so I started playing around with that thanks to Charles' inspiration 👍
Was part 7 from Dream Theater's Stream of Consciousness! Definitely sounds reminiscent of that if not a total call-out to it.
very similar, nice touch
I thought the same thing then I went and checked. Both songs have that riff come in around the 4:00 min mark, might just be coincidence, but if not a very cool nod.
@@bearcrimes I didn't realize that they both happened at the same time! When I first heard it, I couldn't remember the song, so I stopped the vid and imagined through the very lengthy solo until I got back to the main melody. Basically took me 4 extra minutes to figure out what song that was!
Actually a lot of technical death metal/neoclassica metal bands use fretless bass. Nice job Charles🔥
The amount of practise Charles put into bass is inspiring.
Magnificent job. I can listen a full album with that kind of energy. Ty for sharing your talent.
Who needs plug-ins? Awesome!
Love that dream theater riff you chucked in there, that fretless bass sounds awesome man
Right! I knew I heard stream of consciousness in part #7 :D Awesome tip of the hat by Charles as always
Everything about this is soo good! You're an excellent musician and you will inspire many generations!
This is some of the most AMAZING STUFF I HAVE HEARD IN A VERY LONG TIME LOVE YOUR CREATIVITY.
Great song, I'd call it Missing plugin
Love this! By the way, Dominic LaPointe of First Fragment and Beyond Creation is keeping the fretless bass on the map, my man. My previous bass teacher. Killer musician and human.
I still listen/watch Forest videos weekly and I am not even a bass player. He is just that damn good.
Dude, your ability to make the sponsor messages entertaining and worthy of watching is an amazing and under appreciated talent in and of itself. 👏 👏
I dig the build walkthrough format! Nice change of pace from the normal grip and rip it videos.
we needed 9000% increase but you gave us 69420.504% increase thank you for your service
This is flawless and I can only imagine how you got this good. Improvising seems like it comes naturally for you. Also I have a request: If Sultans of Swing was the hardest song in the world
💯 Yes please!
Dude... Those harmonics and main melody are just touching my soul...
ever since ur new studio your videos have been getting so much better!
I hear some Dream Theater's Stream of Consciousness, it's pretty sneaky. Great job Charles!
Perfectly balanced tune! Serious prog metal, but doesn't make me feel like I'm flunking a math test! lol
Great work, as always!!!
Evil Bass Riff (no.7) is super similar to Stream of Consciousness by Dream Theater
What an incredible sound, how much creativity my brother, Inexplicable
Why wasn't this song titled "Missing Plugin?" That's the real question...
If this level of quality would be usual in the metal world, I would definitively listen to metal more often!
As Fricker says, it's really the lack of expressive singing that has killed metal.
Give Archspire a listen. Masterfully written and the bassist is insane
Crazy Fretless Solo worth waiting around for 😁
youre a massive inspiration charles, thank you
missing plugin
i love this metal series, so cool music your creating :D
Love the harmonics in particular!
Modern metal has a lot of fretless bass! Beyond creation, first fragment, the faceless…
Love Beyond Creation
Haken's Aquarius is probably my metal album with fretless bass.
Even Entheos put some great fretless riffs on this last album, Evan Brewer was playing on the studio for them
@@NeoArmstrongJetArmstrongCannon Aquarius has fretless bass? Actually, now that you mention it, I don't know how I didn't notice, it's literally right there in your face on Sun. Love to see another Haken fan out there btw, what an incredible band.
Now this is what Davie misses - your creativity and talent for creating music. You're both crazy good technical bassists, but you have the edge when it comes to creatong music. LOVE IT !!!!!
@davie504, are you taking this?
@@chris_scott exactly @davie504 :) please prove me wrong and create sth. like Charlse's impossible bass solo which was then made into full track ;)
I've always wanted to see what Charles would do with a Chapman's Stick/Bass
the tone work is astonishing and perfect timing, as always. A-grade
I'm not sure how this is possible but with every successive video Charles makes I think, this video can't be topped! And then he goes and tops it with the next video
💯 and also The Consouls live vgm jazz Radio streams
Amazing as always!
That natural harmonic sliding up is as beautiful as I think it is technically brilliant.
love seeing stuff like this, keep it up!
Of course!! Metal & fretless bass is an awesome combination!!!
Truly amazing! Thanks for sharing!
This dude has a touch of the divine!
This was an amazing song, I love how dream theatery it is. It’s very majestic
Great as always
I like the new fashion of sponsor segments.
Groovy.
The crazy fretless tap solo reminded me of cliff burton
Those slide harmonics are so rad dude
that was the textbook definition of EPIC!!!
It was a nice metal song the SS fretless definitely is the sound of future for metal. I also thought the sponsor spot was fun since you added a song to it. Always amazing thanks Charles.
I have to finally give it to you!!!!
You are an awesome musician!!!
Impressive musicianship CB. Admirably entertaining commercial plugs, bravo.
this is the chillest metal song i've ever heard
Another banger, thank you!
amazing bass song as usual charles!
That song was so good man great work
I love your compositions
Amazing! This would fit so well as a boss theme in a videogame!
Epic as always
I loved 6 and 8, definitely spiced up my morning, thanks for that
I need this in my Spotify playlist NOW!!!!
You look so happy when you talk about editing the video.
wow, these riff are really nice, I like the sound of your fretless bass
Keep doing what your doing Charles. Epic...
Outstanding as always! 🤘😎🤘
Beautiful! Good luck finding your plugins ;)
Bass. Genius. Simply
4:02 this reminds me a lot of stream of consciousness by dream theater
