I always find myself doing this with my husband, he'll even remind me when I don't catch myself "honey, it's not a competition" and depending how deep into it I've already succumbed to my ADD at the moment I'll either reply "oh, yeah" and try to get out of competition mode or "you're just saying that cause you're losing!" and go full on. Also sucks cause I'll add more things to the "original competition" 😭
This reminds me of this one kid I had in math class years ago. I had him in a few classes and I always noticed teachers having a hard time getting him to participate and do the work. One day during math our teacher randomly split us up into pairs to work on a few problems and I got him. It didn't feel right leaving him out of what we were doing because I could tell he knew the material; he just had a hard time sitting still and doing the actual work, so I made a game out of it. It wasn't anything crazy. We had cards with a problem on them and cards with different solutions and had to match them up so I had him race me for the answer and whoever got it/found it first won. He got really into and did really well and we both had so much fun that class and my teacher was pretty happy to see him help with the work. Since then when we got "randomly" split off into pairs I always got him and we had fun with it making mini games and competitions. Sadly he got suspended for something else and eventually moved to a different school before it was over. Those were some of the best math classes I've ever had and I always feel so accomplished when I think back to those days. I hope he's doing well.
This was a huge motivator for me throughout my life, specifically university. I also realized that I could compete to ‘beat myself’ which became an even bigger motivator haha
I’m floored. This is the fourth video I’ve seen from you and all of them have felt like home. Like me. Like finally somebody gets me. Warm cozy sweater -gets me. Thank you.
I feel this if competition is mutual I can’t do it because then I get stressed out knowing I won’t be good enough, but if it’s all In my own head it’s really only me I have to live up to or who is trying. :)
Whenever I need to focus I sit on the floor, I just unlock a new level of motivation on the floor. I can type up maybe a page or at least a few paragraphs whenever I sit on the floor to do work at home and in my room
Reminded me of how I've been finding out that spite can actually be a good motivator! If I imagine that doing something would make someone I don't like mad or jealous it makes it easier to get to it
The detail of being so excited abt something you notice your sweatshirt fall but then someone stimulates the conversation and the sweatshirt doesn't exist anymore is too real
When my ex caught up with me again and I said so excitedly. “I started wearing tank tops!!! 😁” they went “ok?” *we didn’t stay friends long after that*
I did that with my cousin. I look over to her and she's looks at me like, " she going to say something". I told her I got a new bra and that it was pink and comfy and I've never had a pink comfy of bra before. She laughed and said she never knows what's going to come out of my mouth.
This is literally the one thing that helps me improve any kind of skill. I just pick someone who is a bit above my level and "compete" with them until I feel like I'm at their level. It doesn't even have to be an acquaintance, it can be a random person from the internet 😂
That was something that motivated me to graduate my trade school as one of the top of the class. I didn't tell anyone about it, just pushed myself because I wanted to be better at it than my classmates.
Literally how I became better at anything I try. I find the best person, in my eyes, and then work to out preform them. The goal isn’t to hurt them at all it’s only to challenge myself to an unfair fight and then come out proving i stand at the pinnacle of all
THAT IS SOOOO MEEEE. Its so strangly wonderful watching myself/life in these vids. So validating. (love the extra touch of the obliviousness not quite landing the coat wrack.).
Oh my god you make me feel so understood and just knowing there’s at least one person that feels exactly like me makes me feel more comfortable with myself
*Sometimes when I'm annoyed in a place with other people, I make sure to stiffen my arm when someone walks by me in an attempt to make them feel awkward and slightly hurt
I do similar to this, I trick myself into doing mundane tasks by avoiding other tasks. No idea if I’m ND but a lot of my family is, including my mother and my son.
I was in a popcorn eating competition with someone who didn’t know we were competing (I won) I ended up eating two buckets of popcorn and feeling like I was going to puke the rest of the day, but it was worth it because I beat them. I told my friend about it and she just said “it wasn’t a competition though” not to them, but I knew. I KNEW!!!
Yooo, this explains why the entirety of elementary school I was having "swing battles" with this other kid who also liked to swing Pretty sure they never knew I existed but I was always challenging myself to swing higher than them I miss playground swings I wonder why people never put that type of playground equipment in high schools and middle schools I feel like that would be a good way to motivate kids to be more active I wish I could have one of those full sized swings irl and just swing my problems away while singing, I feel like thinking is so much easier when you're on a swingset I just realized that at no point did this video mention swings Whoops
Same same- I’m a silks aerialist and when people randomly just join the public classes, I feel the need to try 1000000 times harder because I’m more experienced and I’m not letting some newbie show me up.
Oh my………. I got adhd and looking back I always used competition to motivate myself and most of the time other people didn’t even realize I was competing with them. Glad to know other people did this.
Was really nervous when she mentioned sitting near someone because i thought it would involve speaking to them, but then it didn’t and now I need to try this
Only negative side to that is sometimes you build up resentment towards the party you are ‘competing with’ wether you wanted to or not and even if they are completely unaware of it. But it is helpful!
no LITERALLY me the few times i actually study “u cant eat or go to the bathroom until u finish 10 questions” but then i keep prolonging it until im done and end up not eating/drinking anything all day
YES! This is why kahoots and other quiz games help me so much before tests! The competition plus forced memorization help me ace almost every test I take! I'm really good at tests now that I know what works for me ☺
When I was a kid, I used to have competitions to complete chores. I'd give myself landmarks like "By the time I finish an album, the dishes have to be washed."
What helps me get things done is to get one of my friends to do a task with me and then we race to see who can get more done faster. Believe me when I say that this has saved me when it comes to homework.
I used to “play” teacher. Writing on a white board (or smart board) was fun! I would get a room with a white board and present the information to the empty room (and sometimes curious friends) as if I was teaching a class. This helped me quickly identify what I didn’t understand and work through it. And since I drilled the information to the point I could teach it, the information stuck.
Bro I speedrun things to motivate myself! I even have a lil notebook with my splits for my nighttime routine because if I don’t do that, it’ll take me hours because I keep getting distracted every 15 seconds lol
especially if you and the person next to you are both doing a test or something and there’s a progression bar, I’m not copying them, the glances are me checking how far apart we are
I've done this to work on projects. I have to leave the house to be productive in any way and curling up in the corner of a cafe with a tea to write is one of the ONLY times I get it done. Bonus points if there's a student or businessman doing work nearby
Not with studying, but I've done this many times.
Especially as a kid I did this all the time...
I still do this it's the only way I can get stuff done
Like if I'm doing dishes I'll make it my goal to get them done before people get home.
Omg same
I always find myself doing this with my husband, he'll even remind me when I don't catch myself "honey, it's not a competition" and depending how deep into it I've already succumbed to my ADD at the moment I'll either reply "oh, yeah" and try to get out of competition mode or "you're just saying that cause you're losing!" and go full on. Yeah like when I’m building puzzle it never ends
Hold up she’s onto something here, I’m honestly going to try that out now
Same. Holy frick. The shame of losing will keep me there even if I just end up sitting there, so maybe it, will help me study.
ME TOO. I LOVE unnecessary competition. This would make it so easy to get stuff done.
Same!
Ikr i don't even have ADHD but i want to try this
I've been in silent competition with my whole college class for 3 years. I'm beating all of them!
The sweater not making it on the hook and subsequently being ignored is sooo accurate 🤣
Yes this I was looking for this. This is the first thing I fixated on. XD
YESSSS
Honestly I'm just impressed with the effort lol
i couldn’t focus on the video bc i thought it was gonna be pointed out but she never noticed it 😭
I know! The fact that I had to watch this twice because I was enjoying that detail...also sooo accurate.
Did anyone else notice the jacket falling?
i like your pfp
Me who only paid attention to the jacket: ...?
I'm certain that was intentional

Aaaw Bless you
That was so sweet of you 😊
Love this
Need more people like you who try to understand and not judge & give up
This was a huge motivator for me throughout my life, specifically university. I also realized that I could compete to ‘beat myself’ which became an even bigger motivator haha
Yeah I don't compete with other people . I compete with myself. Then I get burned out and completely stop doing whatever I was doing .
I cant compete with myself. v__v )
It doesnt being that same feeling as beating someone else.
My favourite is vending my coffee quicker than the person using the machine next to me 😁
I’m floored. This is the fourth video I’ve seen from you and all of them have felt like home. Like me. Like finally somebody gets me. Warm cozy sweater -gets me. Thank you.

You know what i might try doing this- I'm not competitive but it sounds fun so I feel like it would motivate me-
When I’m at work I pretend I’m in a game and have to deal with customers as efficiently as I can because the spawning waves could get bigger each time
>.> stealing this for work thank you
Wow I didn't realize this was a symptom of adhd my friends call me a prick for being so competitive
That’s cap.
@@nothinbutdoodles2840 tfym that's cap
I have ADD and I am not competitive at all. So I don't think this is a symptom.
You can't judge the process if it works
Whenever I need to focus I sit on the floor, I just unlock a new level of motivation on the floor. I can type up maybe a page or at least a few paragraphs whenever I sit on the floor to do work at home and in my room
THATS LOWKEY SMART THO
Omg same! But with school! I’m 12 and diagnosed with ADHD. That helped a lot!
The detail with the sweater and the hook 👌
Reminded me of how I've been finding out that spite can actually be a good motivator! If I imagine that doing something would make someone I don't like mad or jealous it makes it easier to get to it
This is such a mood
The detail of being so excited abt something you notice your sweatshirt fall but then someone stimulates the conversation and the sweatshirt doesn't exist anymore is too real
Yeaaas I understand Soo much omg I’m so happy I have the need to motivation to make everything a game
When my ex caught up with me again and I said so excitedly. “I started wearing tank tops!!! 😁” they went “ok?”

I absolutely love that your jacket DOESNT stay on the hook, and it never ends up there lmao. Simply in its new home, the floor.
“You’re brain is so strange yet intriguing”
She just described how outsiders see ADHD in seven words.
Get it girl. Cheering you onnnnnn
Damn that’s a good idea.
Also, love how the jacket immediately fell of the hanger
This is so on point- I will leave things to the last minute unless it's a competition in which case I will do whatever it takes to win
Facts. I’ve had to do this a few times, just to finish the damn task!
This is literally the one thing that helps me improve any kind of skill.
I just pick someone who is a bit above my level and "compete" with them until I feel like I'm at their level. It doesn't even have to be an acquaintance, it can be a random person from the internet 😂

The watching the jacket fall and then continuing the story without picking it up is me everyday
This channel has helped me understand myself and accept myself so much more. Thank you.
I've never been diagnosed with ADHD, but I relate to so many of your videos!
It truly is the best way to get work done because if you know the person you will want to talk to them and no work gets done.
“Your brain is so strange yet intriguing” I love this
That last statement expresses precisely why i can’t stop watching the videos from this channel. I hope she donates her brain to science 😅.
Damn, I do this all the time. Those chumps will never beat me 💪🏽
I do similar to this, I trick myself into doing mundane tasks by avoiding other tasks.
No idea if I’m ND but a lot of my family is, including my mother and my son.
Can’t decide which makes me happier, your physical beauty or your Canadian accent
Love the touch of the jacket not actually making it to the hook
That "Yesss!" really locked in the "French & Universal Language have a convo" energy! 😂
(Loïc Suberville)
This is a great idea! I definitely struggle with doing assignments because of my ADHD and I just started high school so I will definitely use this!
I wish I knew this about myself back in school. I didnt learn it until after I started working (19).
Wait this might actually work…
The look on your face when you replied, "Yes." 😈
“I studied SO well bc the OTHER person was studying!” I love that
I was in a popcorn eating competition with someone who didn’t know we were competing (I won) I ended up eating two buckets of popcorn and feeling like I was going to puke the rest of the day, but it was worth it because I beat them. I told my friend about it and she just said “it wasn’t a competition though” not to them, but I knew. I KNEW!!!
Who else was more focused on the jacket and the hook than the video
I swear whenever I watch one of your videos I relate more and more
If you don't tell the other person you're competing, your chances of winning are better. I do this all the time
Okay....this is genius....that would actually work 😅😅😅
Also....that jacket falling hit me where it hurts 😆
Such a great idea!
Lmao I freaking love her. Her brain is so cool
Yooo, this explains why the entirety of elementary school I was having "swing battles" with this other kid who also liked to swing
Pretty sure they never knew I existed but I was always challenging myself to swing higher than them
I miss playground swings
I wonder why people never put that type of playground equipment in high schools and middle schools
I feel like that would be a good way to motivate kids to be more active
I wish I could have one of those full sized swings irl and just swing my problems away while singing, I feel like thinking is so much easier when you're on a swingset
I just realized that at no point did this video mention swings
Whoops
Same same- I’m a silks aerialist and when people randomly just join the public classes, I feel the need to try 1000000 times harder because I’m more experienced and I’m not letting some newbie show me up.
Lol I love knowing I’m not alone in this! It’s helped many of times
The sweater completely missing the hook may be the most relatable part of the video, and that's saying something.
These videos just make me more and more aware of the fact I might have ADHD
Oh my………. I got adhd and looking back I always used competition to motivate myself and most of the time other people didn’t even realize I was competing with them. Glad to know other people did this.
Was really nervous when she mentioned sitting near someone because i thought it would involve speaking to them, but then it didn’t and now I need to try this
The jumper just miss place but is completely forgotten 💀 relatable
This is pretty accurate actually
I've literally done this exact thing before! Pls someone help me this girl is always spot on!!!!!!
I do this super often. I go on study with me streams and tell myself I can only take breaks when they do and I can't stop studying until it's over.
Only negative side to that is sometimes you build up resentment towards the party you are ‘competing with’ wether you wanted to or not and even if they are completely unaware of it. But it is helpful!
As a child I rewarded myself with my aunties cookies anytime I finished a chapter in a school textbook 😂
It helps a lot when things are competitive.
I feel this. I have competitions with people who work in customer service. I try to out polite them.
Thank you for your help!
No, thank YOU!!!!
no LITERALLY me the few times i actually study “u cant eat or go to the bathroom until u finish 10 questions” but then i keep prolonging it until im done and end up not eating/drinking anything all day
YES! This is why kahoots and other quiz games help me so much before tests! The competition plus forced memorization help me ace almost every test I take! I'm really good at tests now that I know what works for me ☺
Yeah. I call it a secret competition.
MY ADHD ASS NEEDS TO DO THIS MORE
there's also this thing called mirroring where its easier to focus on a task woth adhd if someone near you is also doing that task!
The way I had to replay it twice because all I focused on was the sweater😂
Genuinely I have to do this to get things done constantly it's kinda like body doubleing it gives us a motivation to get stuffs doneee
Not me having to immediately rewatch the video because my brain processed nothing after the jacket fell off the hook 😂
When I was a kid, I used to have competitions to complete chores. I'd give myself landmarks like "By the time I finish an album, the dishes have to be washed."
Love the hoodie drop dkw it’s just a perfect detail
I used to do this ALL THE TIME with tests in school since I would fixate on things for an absurd amount of time
It's the missing the hook and absolutely not even noticing 😂😂😂
Love the coat drop that you didn’t notice 👌
What helps me get things done is to get one of my friends to do a task with me and then we race to see who can get more done faster. Believe me when I say that this has saved me when it comes to homework.
honestly this is best way for me to get things done
My stupid brain focusing more on the jacket falling then the actual theory 🤪
POV you sit next to the med student
I also have the need to turn everything into a competition which often comes off as narcissism which people hate about me
I used to “play” teacher.
I do this but I ask the person sitting next to me to try and finish their work faster than me- I usually lose but still it works!
Bro I speedrun things to motivate myself! I even have a lil notebook with my splits for my nighttime routine because if I don’t do that, it’ll take me hours because I keep getting distracted every 15 seconds lol
The coat falling made me actually laugh omg
I wouldn't have dropped out of college if this channel had existed 10 years ago 😂😭
The fact the jacket was just left on the ground is killing me
Legitimately the only way I've ever passed the run on a PT test.
especially if you and the person next to you are both doing a test or something and there’s a progression bar, I’m not copying them, the glances are me checking how far apart we are
I've done this to work on projects. I have to leave the house to be productive in any way and curling up in the corner of a cafe with a tea to write is one of the ONLY times I get it done. Bonus points if there's a student or businessman doing work nearby
Imagine sitting down and said person gets up within 5min cos they been there awhile . There goes ur competition and motivation
I convince myself that the picture of some random dude on the wall of my uni building is judging me if I stop studying 😂
