Simi Valley (Grudge, Dirty Bird & Animal) / GoPro Hero 8 vs Hero 9 Mountain Biking footage 9/20/20

- Fires are still raging all over California. The National Forrest Service has extended the shut down of all National Parks. We headed up Simi Valley which is one of my favorite places to ride. It was really hot so we were lucky enough to squeeze out 3 runs. We hit Grudge, Dirty Bird and Animal.
This is not a review for the GoPro Hero 9. Chris just picked up the new GoPro Hero 9 and I wanted to see how it compared to the Hero 8. I wasn't able to tell the difference with the picture quality, stabilization or sound but I only record in 2.7k. From what I hear the battery life is better which is a huge bonus.
As I mentioned in the beginning of the video my restaurant was nominated for Best Vietnamese Restaurant in Orange County 2020! We got nominated on September 1st but I didn't find out until September 17th when a customer told us. I cant put into words how humbled we are. My wife and I opened up Monarch 9 Cafe 4 years ago without any restaurant experience. We didn't have a clue on how to operate a restaurant but we knew that my moms cooking was amazing and we wanted to share it with as many people as possible.
My family is from Dalat a small city in Vietnam which was a French resort town in the 1800s with food that has a distinctive Vietnamese French flavor. There isn't many Vietnamese restaurants in California from this region so we wanted to share our family recipes.
My wife and I are both health freaks with strict diets. We wanted to offer Vietnamese food the way we eat; clean, healthy, without MSG, or additives. Most of our menu is gluten free and we also offer many Vegan, keto and no carb options. All of the other restaurants nominated are well established and amazing so we are so humbled to be in their company. I was wondering what mount you’re using on the helmet it looks more convenient than the chesty. Great riding as always 😎 keep them coming!
I use a regular gopro J bend mount but any mount will work. I zip tied mine but you can also use sugru (putty)

Tommy, nice job on the videos. I am in Massachusetts now, but lived in North Hollywood from 1996-2009. I am a former BMX'er, but I wish I found mountain biking while I lived out there. Was that off the 118? I used to go to the Simi Valley BMX track. I picked up mountain biking in 2015, and bought my full suspension bike in 2016. I need to get back to the LA area with my bike. I have seen some sick trails near where I used to live. This is one of them. All the best to you, and I will have to check your restaurant out if I make it to the OC.

You can use any regular gopro chin mount you can either zip tie or or use putty (sugru) to mount it

If I had the Hero 7 I think the 9 is big upgrade. I'm not sure its worth it for people who have the Hero 8

Someone strung fishing wire on the bottom of a drop on hummingbird last year. Some guy hit it at 6am on a saturday. Some of these hikers are psychopaths. I couldn't imagine a mountain biker setting a death trap on a trail....

You want to use as much travel as possible without bottoming out. I run my fork extremely soft in the beginning stroke and it ramps up. I have only bottomed out my fork a handful of times
Bro I wish I can afford a better bike. I’ve been riding for a year and thinking I can do advanced trail. Unfortunately my bike can’t stand those kind of trails.
You would be surprised, these trails were built over 25 years ago and smashed on their old school bikes. Just keep riding trails you're comfortable with and keep pushing yourself to get better and faster and work your way up
