    The new Goggles 2 are an instant buy for me IF they will support the existing air units and vistas.
    If they won't then I don't care about the new goggles, the older V2 will simply be the superior goggles due to better compatibility.

    So after hearing DJI statement on the non backwards compatibility- basically I got that they tried to give the fpv community hope that it will become backwards compatible but going off there previous actions ex. canvas mode fiasco , there just gonna discontinue the vista/air unit and make you buy the new v2 air unit.

    • @SCFPV
      @SCFPV Před 2 lety +21

      Yea, I feel the same way. They made the drone compatible with the older goggles. So why not make the new goggles compatible with the AU/Vista. Typical DJI, and that's why I'm migrating all my drones away from DJI. They're going to eventually do to themselves, what FrSky did. Remember DJI, you're never too big to fail, and customers determine your future. Something a lot of companies of today could use a lesson in.

      @@SCFPV That's horrible advice for anyone who already has DJI. What does "too heavily invested" mean anyhow? If someone has goggles and few quads setup, why would they sell everything at a loss? So, hypothetically, if person had goggles and two quads, what sell all the DJI stuff for what, $500-$600, maybe, then go and spend $600 to $1k to get into something else, just to say I don't have DJI? And then replace it with what? There are no other HD products that compare to DJI at this very moment. Sure there are a couple companies that are up and coming, but they aren't there yet. None of this means I am going to stay with DJI forever, but if my current stuff works, why sell it unless it is to replace it with something better?

    I’ve built 20+ drones for myself and others. Looks promising. New googles for their drones only are a clear no go for me. They can be off the charts quality but if they stay locked in DJI pre-built only they are worthless to me and won’t scale. I was literally about to but the full pro kit, in the cart, but no commitment to goggles being able to be used with my own builds with an updated air unit. I’ll move on. There are other options now and in the future. If DJI doesn’t want to open up to those that build their own drones by providing updated air units etc. That’s chill. I’ll move on and invest my money into a company more open to custom builds. I own 2 sets of DJI FPV goggles (v1 & v2) and own 20+ DJI / Caddx air units. I’m sure I’ll by 20+ more video transmitters in the future. Will see if they are DJI brand or someone else… There’s my customer feedback DJI. Your move…
    PS. To have to wait for customer demand / feedback on this issue is a clear indicator how out of touch with the FPV community you really are. I’d suggest DJI sorts that out or just sticks to “Mavic style” cinema drones.

When you first turn it on occusync boosts to like over 2-3 watts. Just crazy. There is still something special to me about building something myself. I understand how its hard it took me years to finally invest, but it has been so rewarding for me putting ELRS on a quad and getting it to work. Tweaking it how I want. Great job though DJI. One thing that I am curious to see is if this has the same limitations that the dji app does for flying zones. If so, that may take away from the whole purpose of a cinewhoop. e.g. Can I fly inside? Can I pull this thing out anywhere and fly it? Or is the dji app going to prevent us from doing that. The new FPV drone seems cool and the new Goggles 2 look awesome. It is just a bad and sad decision that they won't work with the Air units. Maybe better Air units will come and they make the right decision to open it up to the FPV Air units :)

    That's a very difficult purchase decision if DJI doesn't allow DJI Goggles 2 to work with DJI Air Unit.

    The way that DJI is selling this drone is maddening. If you want the new goggles, they didn't create a "package" combo kit with the traditional remote, so you have to buy the stupid "motion controller" throw it in the trash, and then buy the stick controller separately. The drone is already overpriced, yet they felt the need to nickle-and-dime us for the controller. The best part is almost every reviewer on CZcams got the Avada with the stick remote and reviewed it that way (only passively mentioning the motion controller in the review (because they know it is a toy)) is just a slap in the face.

    really interesting! I quite like the motion controller. I thought it was stupid at first, but I like it in your video. I hear the new DJI goggles won't connect to the DJI FPV :( it's strange Avata can work with old DJI glasses but vice versa new glasses can't work with older... I guess they want to increase sales of the DJI Avata...
    durability looks great

  • @JackRabbitFPV

    I am definitely interested in the system. I don't have a cine whoop and would like to add one to my fleet, but it is very important to me that the new goggles work with the old vistas and air units. I won't be buying this if the new goggles are not backwards compatible with the old systems.

  • @ryanrocksize5
    @ryanrocksize5 Před 2 lety +6

    The DJI statement explaining the "we will evaluate reactions" shows that they know that removing backwards compatibility is a bad thing to do and they did it anyways, biggest IDGAF attitude from that corporate, I'd rather bet my money on Walksnail for a long-term system for the community, not corporate greed

    I love Rotor riot, but after the statement that the new goggles don't work with the air unit, I was expecting a much stronger reaction, which by the way you can see in their faces! The most crucial thing about the new goggles, that has to be implemented, is the compatibility with the air unit and I hoped rotor riot is going to realize it right away and be the first ones to publicly state it.

    I upgraded to dji early on in the v1 and was blown away, sure i had to sell off brand new(ish) HDO goggles and a bunch of vtxs at a loss but....its digital so. Now this, if they come out with a good air unit to pair up with the goggles im a buyer, screw it, cant take it with you$$$

  • @ridethesky3259
    @ridethesky3259 Před 2 lety +1

  • @hornyj1
    @hornyj1 Před 2 lety +1

    Back compatibility of the new DJI googles with air unit / cadx vista is a no-brainer, especially if DJI plans to stop making the V1 and V2 googles! What would be really great though, is a new air unit and FPV camera from the Avata drone, that you can plug into a custom build. The jump from HD to Full HD (720p to 1080p) in the googles is what I'm looking for to upgrade!

    Finally, a proper review from real FPV pilot's perspective.
    I always curious, can avata do a freestyle stuff and Rotor Riot show us what avata can do!
    Most reviews out there are only talk about what avata can do as an aerial drone.

  • @hazonku
    @hazonku Před 2 lety

    I'm fairly impressed with the nifty joystick but even more impressed with what little freestyle this little thing could do (albeit that'd be stupid). THIS is actually what I'd expect from a $1,300+ cine system. Be able to do ALL the cine you want but also a little freestyle too if you wanna get fancy or have a client who doesn't understand drones but demands more on the day & is willing to pay for the risk involved.

    OK I'm impressed!!! I would have never guessed the flight performance or DURABILITY!!!!! I'm not a digital pilot, YET. I don't understand any company unless it just can't be reasonably done, not making your products backwards compatible?? Moving forward is good. But leaving the past behind doesn't seam fair to the existing customer base. Great video too guys!!!
