    Very good. My last 2011 KLR I replaced battery with lithium, new lighter handle bars, took off the rear license plate holder, DG slip on exhaust, de smogged.
    I believe I took off a total of 25lbs! I could feel the difference in handling and the bike did run much better. Good to see that some of the gen 2 stuff will fit.

    It sounds rad as hell brother. I love it. So glad you're enjoying the new KLR too. I'm amazed at how universal this generation is with the others. So far I'm seeing a lot of people swapping over mods like this with no trouble. The ease of that skid plate install was shocking too. So glad the gen 3 is panning out for folks.

After then, spray it with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and use one of the pads. If its really bad, try straight vinegar. I thought your purple polish would work really well, but it might need something more serious, like a drill attachment to really clean it up

    Just wondering and hoping someone will confirm or correct.. Is the FI not closed loop? It has an O2 sensor, shouldn't that read the exhaust and correct the amount fuel? So making a mod that increases air flow it should correct by adding more fuel right?

    • @tieoneon1614
      @tieoneon1614 Před 2 lety

      Its the same system Kawi used in the KLX250. I forgot what loop it was called but it couldnt adjust on its own. If u added a slip on, or opened the airbox usually it was no need to get a fuel tuner. If u do both, they say u wont feel any increase in power unless u add more fuel with a tuner.

    • @mtaylor8813
      @mtaylor8813 Před 2 lety +2

      I did some research myself as I got curious and it started raining. Found that the KLR650 is closed loop. So it will richen or lean out the AFR as needed depending on the O2 at the sensor. The KLX300 is also closed loop but the KLX300R is open as it has no O2 sensor. OE mapping has the need to pass emissions in mind. After market tuning will disregard the emissions in order to get max performance without the emissions in mind. So from what I have read, you can go without re-mapping and the ECM will relearn and provide some performance improvement with the new airflow but in order to get max performance to match your mods you would want to re-map. Can't wait for my new KLR to be delivered. My son is finally 16 and getting his motorcycle learners so will have someone to ride with again. That power core sounds wicked.

      Great comment. From my knowledge, everything you said is spot on (tuning certainly isn't my forte though). I spoke to my local motorcycle tuner and I am going to do some dyno runs comparing the stock and FMF. They'll be able you give an accurate description on everything and I'll do a vid up on it that should answer all our questions

      In Australia the closest number I can get for you is SKU: 6107505. Might be better off jumping on the net depending on your country

      My advice would be to enjoy your new exhaust but don’t sell your stock exhaust so you can put it back on when you get tired of the noise.
