      The stock pipe we weighed at 14.3 LBS and the Leo Vince is about half that at 7.21 LBS. I'm not aware of a carbon fiber version for the KLR. Thanks for the comment!!

    Since it boils down to weight to horsepower ratio, my questions about performance prooducts are: how much weight does it shave off? How much horsepower (if any) does it add? If there is no big performance benefit, I’d rather spend that money on your upper crash bar and/or skid plate.

    Does this require anything done to the ECU to run properly or is it good enough to just plug and play?

    • @HappyTrailsMoto
      @HappyTrailsMoto  Před 2 lety +1

      From Leo Vince: "Its not absolutely required. It usually doesn’t change mapping much, but of the stock mapping is already bad it wont make it better. Any bike with O2 sensors tends to perform better with the elimination of them and them some tuning, but at the expense of fuel economy. So the real answer is, it wont hurt the bike if you don’t but will smooth it out and run better if you do."

      Use cation reflashing your ECU. Make sure that the vendor doesn’t make it impossible to access it with Kawasaki’s KVCS. I have seen it where the diagnostic tool will not connect and that’s an issue when trying to diagnose under warranty.

      My experience with new machines nowadays is they come lean from the factory to meet emission standards. I have changed exhaust and high flow air filters on both and both were to lean afterwards. I run dynojet commanders on both and have dynojet tuned.

I know when I have replaced mufflers in the past on fuel injected bikes it made them run a little richer, just curious if there is any information on the New fuel injected KLR or mods for such changes and if there is any actual HP or performance increases.? They sent a pipe to DynoJet and apparently it arrived but got stuffed aside and they didn't know they had it so they are looking around for it now I guess so they can test it? • @HappyTrailsMoto
      @HappyTrailsMoto  Před 2 lety +2

      The best place to answer those questions I think is with your dealer and the state of California. We can't keep track these days.

    • @evankapel4125
      @evankapel4125 Před 2 lety +1

      Not legal for street use in CA as it removes the catalyst which is in the stock system. However, there is no required smog check/inspection required in CA for motorcycles, so you can use this exhaust with no problem in CA. It would affect the warranty as it is a significant modification.
