The Escape from Tarkov developers have made a series of questionable calls, all centered around a $250 bundle that locks a new game mode. A mode that, they say, is a feature and isn't a DLC.

I bought the Edge of Darkness Edition primarily because I did not have the time anymore to grind every wipe for larger stash and additionally wanted to support a game that I had invested probably hundreds of hours into if not nearly thousands. This latest move is a straight up cash grab and. I think it's because Arena bombed and now they're trying to figure out a way to monetize the game after investing money into that endeavor. the CA thing was really different, people were reading a statement of fact, that they can only make DLC if it is profitable, as a threat to end support. Like they had to end Three Kingdoms due to the failure of DLC, its just how it works that projects that start to lose money will stop being green lit. And the guy was one of the key people in launching the Warhammer series at CA, he doesn't want a project he is personally invested in to fail. The wording was a bit more frank than PR people use, but he actually was someone higher up, not a PR guy doing PR. Like sure, it was less content per dollar, but if you see expenses going up, increasing prices is an obvious approach (that it led to reduction in sales made that fail; arguably a lot of the anger was misplaced, like that over Pharaoh and Hyenas, and the idea that CA was investing Warhammer money in other games, rather than Sega choosing what projects got green lit; overall the outcry worked out well that time, but i fear it will keep CA from being as transparent and stop higher ups from speaking as openly, certainly the threats to harm the guy didn't help)

Premium currency can be earned in-game at a reasonable pace, there is no fomo, all content stays forever or cycles back around every week. Meanwhile if I launch any of my other games it's fucking 40$ for a damned t shirt in a 70$ game and the 20$ season goes away forever if you don't finish it and you have to pay for expansions and there's no way to earn the funny money in-game. You can only buy it in weird amounts, too. All that currency obsfucation shit. Ah yes the shirts are 2900 morb bucks but you can only buy packs of 2800 to force you to pay twice its price or you have to buy 2700 and 500 and nothing in the game costs 400...

I think Bellular missed a big point, they didn't only said "it's not DLC" they went to the EoD version, and changed some of the perks that it includes, so they could say that the new mode was not a DLC, also, when Nikita was asked on a interview about changing that text, he said they never changed anything, basically calling their playerbase idiots and liers, up to this point, I didn't see any apologize for that matter, and in my opinion, that's the biggest point, since it's literally a try to scam people, and it's even illegal to do that, since now, they're open to get sued for false advertising, and as far as I know, there are a few law firms that are in the process to do so.
At this point, this is not only a matter of how P2W or how expensive is the new edition of the game, it's the fact that they retroactively went and changed the old one, which said that anyone who owns the EoD version would get all future DLC (such as Arena), which they removed the part of "such as Arena", and tried to deny changing it, also, the server problems for the PvE mode, are a cheap excuse, a PvE mode, doesn't need to connect to their servers, they just have to give you the option to either make it a LAN mode, like many other games do, or a player opens a server and acts as host, we have this in almost all survival games in the industry, on top of the official servers that you access, so telling people that it's impossible because of server capacity is BS, they just wanted the money, and tried to get away with a scam, now not only they lost all trust with the playerbase, they're probably going to face lawsuits, since as a company, they moved to UK, even if they're from Russia, and as an UK based company, they have to go by UK laws, and you guys will know that the UK takes this things seriously, so sit up and watch the fireworks, because I at least, hope that the EFT playerbase don't drop this so easily, not when they didn't even admit to lie about changing the wording of the EoD edition to scam players.

They don’t just try to change the content of what you purchase and say it does not include you, and the only thing that may change is what the ship has in terms of balancing.
    2. (This is in regards to their server issues with PVE mode) They can just have the end user open up their own session from their PC and have people that join them do a LAN connection. Then when the raid is over, capture the data that occurred and upload to the server to keep track of the player stats, quests, and inventory. I know servers are expensive, but I’m sure the PVE and SPTarkov community will be perfectly fine with it just being LAN connection.

When WoTC first produced the game, they were effectively printing money so fast and furious that they had ZERO controls on spending. Just to give you an idea, they paid for ALL of their employees to go to GenCon with ZERO restrictions on travel expenses. Later on, after Fallen Empires when they literally burned huge pallets of cards because they printed too many, they finally started to put some cost controls into place. They were still printing money, just not as much. So, I can see how a development studio could be too short sighted about their cash situation.

All the gaming problems we’re having is because MatPat retired, like how the internet went into a downward spiral after Harambe.

If it's a feature and not a DLC it should be included it a free patch?

As a 5 year player of tarkov it was a slap in the face after years of neglect from the devs and rampant cheating. The community imploded and it was beautiful

OK, something is clearly wrong here, looking with a quick google search, if Tarkov cannot resolve this within 30 days the community will sue them.
as of 4 days ago on reddit. I wish them the best, but yeah, the Tarkov devs wil just get sued, this is not allowed by US commerce law.

what would be wrong with having people "who didn't buy the EOD edition" but the co - op pve mode separately for like $30.00

Screwing over the most involved customers seems to be in style again. This is just like ATLUS releasing Persona 3 Reoload, making people buy that 100€ Premium Edition and then a few weeks after release want you to pay another 35 bucks for the game mode they left out from the main release. Just that this here is much more expensive. Crazy publishers. Fuck them all.

You can do whatever you want when you get to decide what "to your understanding" means.
"It's our understanding that we never have to deliver on DLC if we never release the full game, which we never actually have to do."

When are they gonna put ads in the game, and you need first to have a season pass to be eligible to purchase the add free gaming experience, and some free additional inventory space?

by major additions to the game..they are now meaning finishing it. Reinforce servers means buy more cuz they dont want to spend the money. High priority match making is crazy when some times we are waiting 13 mins to play a raid...then you die and have to wait 27 mins for your boys to then wait 13 mins in que again just to die to a cheater at 73 fps..or a scav eye beaming u from across the map. Im done with it...moving on to reforger and other genres till something else comes along. o

That list literally sounds like everything they’ve been working on that would normally be qol updates they decided to put it all behind a ridiculous paywall
