    2 hours Richard Dawson

    You will note the old Bob mumbles that he thought Richard said, "animal with three of the same letter in its name". Not only is Alligator wrong for three letters in its name, it also doesn't have three of the same letter in its name.

      Aside from the embarrassing Alligator answer really Bob sr actaully did better than Bob jr. At least he said rain instead of snow for a summer storm.

    The "something made of leather that a cowboy uses" question was used in an other episode where the individual rang in before the question was finished and responded with "purse".

    There was another episode where the same question was asked "Name something made of leather that a cowboy uses" and the guy buzzed in before Dawson got out "that a cowboy uses" and his answer was "a purse". Dawson then replied, "you're going to be slightly embarrassed once I finish this question"

    I hear you on that. In 1994, when Richard was brought back, it was too late to save the show. Ray wasn't the problem, it was the addition of the Bullseye round. But you're right, O'Hurley was like Dawson in many ways.

    Feud was already sinking before it even came back with Louie. As good as Richard Dawson was, Jonathan Goodson's canning of Ray Combs was a nasty blow to the show. Richard Karn put some life back into the show, but when John O'Hurley came on board, he breathed full life into it again.

    Yeah, I wish the quality of this classic episode (looks like a VHS recording) could've been a little bit better, but it still remains one of the greatest--and most memorable--moments in "Family Feud's" history (what nimrod in their right mind actually spells "alligator" with three letters?)! What a bunch of numbnuts Bob York, Sr. and his clan were! And they were the champs!

    The reason why that person said Alligator was, he thought that when Richard meant 3 letter, there has to be 3 of the same letters. For example, Canada has 3 "a"

    The 3 letter animal question was on a Steve Harvey version, but they cut out the "spelled with " and asked name a 3 letter animal, i was puzzled, both fast money hesitated one said elk, the other said pig and both got zero. Cat dog are the 2 top answers still.

    My girlfriend didn't prefer Richard Dawson as the host. She told me that she used to watch it when she was little and never wanted to be on it because the idea of Richard Dawson kissing her on the lips freaked her out. She liked the show better when Ray Combs became host. Her mother really liked it when John O'Hurley became host.

    The French History question is a great example that it isn't about the "right answer" but what you think people will say. Lafayette would not be that well known in French History. He made his name in America. Plus, "King Louis." tells me people didn't know the numbers. I wouldn't conflate XVI with the XIV.

    You know I find it interesting that despite that it looks like all 5 Yorks seem slow-witted, there's the elder Bob, Jeri and Bette (I presume his two daughters if Bette is younger Bob's sister-in-law like was mentioned), then younger Bob (Jeri's husband) and his brother, so the younger and elder Bob are not blood-related despite the fact they both gave awful answers in Fast Money.

      I distinctly remember him doing it once when a guy asked where his kiss was, or something to that effect. May have happened more than once. He kissed a couple of Guys on Match Game as well. Granted, not nearly as often as with the ladies, but he did it.

    I think I would have been confused with the Brand of Gasoline question. I probably would have said "Diesel". I thought Shell was the name of a gas station, not a gas brand. What other gas brands would there be?
    Incidentally, not knowing the number one answers, my answers probably would have been:
