National Lampoon put out an album "That's Not Funny, That's Sick!" not too long after, and one item was game show where a man was asked to name four famous Mickeys. The "contestant" may have been voiced by Bill Murray, and gave out "Mickey Way" for the fourth. Some contestants were way over the top on the early episodes for some reason. They seemed to mellow out as Dawson's run went along. Also, Dawson used to remain on stage with the winning family after fast money. If they won, Richard would be grabbed and squeezed by the happy family. He learned later on to keep his distance lol.
It’s weird seeing Richard Dawson not doing his trademark kissing. You can tell he’s new at this and still trying to get his bearings. They don’t even have the contestants shake hands at the podium before he reads the question.
Richard called for 3 seconds and he said Rye bread just before the 3 seconds were up. Then since he made it in time, it was not on the survey and struck.
cartoonfan29 During the E! True Hollywood Story years ago. I think it was Cathy Hugart Dawson that said there were some real family feuds back stage with some families mad over not winning the money or saying a dumb answer.
Thank you for posting a bunch of Richard’s early episodes! I really do enjoy him. Can’t watch the Feud these days it’s just not the same. Steve Harvey is a great comedian, I greatly enjoyed his sitcom but I just don’t think he’s a great fit for the Feud. I do have to say what the hell is up with this Chuck Wollery commercial!? Holy damn that’s bizarre!! I enjoy some of his stuff too but never thought I’d see him do a commercial like that 😮
There wasn't a triple point round during the early seasons of the show since the requirement to win was only 200 points. They changed it to 300 points in 1979 and added the triple round to help families reach that (higher) goal.

This was so akward. But they eventually pulled it together. I love Family Feud.
I would've said Mr Ed too and I'm only 33, wasn't even alive when this episode was filmed lol I did have a weird taste in shows growing up though
