  • My wife and I took hike the Lost Dutchman State park trail of Treasure loop on a regular basis. It is a short, 3 mile hike of relative ease. But on this Friday late afternoon of April 8, the shadow of a storm system was moving past the wilderness, while the setting sun ranged across the west face of the Superstition mountains. The dark blue hues, the rumbling thunder, the trail of rain shadows across the valleys and the brilliant yellow sunshine glistened on the cliffs. Although my amateur filming lowers the otherwise gorgeous quality of the experience, the scene reminds me of some old West movie display landscape of stark contrast on the powerful American Southwest.
