  • Backpacking the most haunted mountains in the US! There's more legends, stories, murders, and mysterious deaths here than can be officially recorded! Come with us as we backpack for 3 days and 2 nights through this rugged landscape that has a darker history than any other mountain range in America.
Kate and I are both professional outdoor guides and wanted to see what the hype of these mountains is all about! There's no better way to do that than to get our gear, hit the trail, and get out there and see for ourselves. We do some off trail bushwacking, swimming in the cold mountain water, and even climb to the summit of a mountain on this trip. Check it out!

Thank You ! This is one of the most beautifully composed videos of the Superstition Mountains that I've seen! I camped there several times as a teenager and have taken friends there and hiked to Weaver's Needle with my wife. Your video is just amazing. Wish that it was much, much longer. Can't wait to see more. Kudos.

This sounds a little outlandish. But several years ago I was camping in this area and a large orb came between me, and the full moon, then proceeded to light the desert up like a lightbulb. Has anybody else heard or seen something like this in this area? Thx

I’ve lived just a few miles from the superstitions my whole life and I’ve hiked probably 90% of the trails, never really noticed anything haunted or creepy about the mountains.

Had a run in with a ghost while hiking the loop around Weavers. My old roommate and I were on the far end and ran into a gentleman wearing jeans, ancient hiking boots and nothing else. All he said was, “water.” He didn’t look ok. So, we got him to follow my buddy with me hiking behind. Following the trail, we turned at a boulder and my friend loudly asked, “where’d that guy go??!!!?” We looked everywhere for the next hour or two, he was nowhere to be found.

@@middleofwherever7157 You were a smart man to bring a gun on that trip. I was about to say, for me to go through the superstition mountains, I would never go alone, and most importantly, I would never go without my 454 Casull. And I am a man that fears nothing. But a fearless man can still have enough sense to have means of protection. Because you don't know what could happen. Not even in the wilderness, but in the suburbs I have seen mysterious things.

Excellent video!! The Killer Mountains, by " Kurt Gentry " between that book and all the other stories Apaches, Spanish, Dutchman gold hunters, UFOs, Hauntings, etc...I would carry a weapon also, but then everywhere I hike in AZ, I carry because of mountain lions and other 2 and 4 legged predators, better safe than sorry...

Come on man don't leave us hanging. Tell a story!. Hear is mine . I'm a normal guy house mortgage wife kids the works . Sceptic . My oldest sister is ...... a someone.. about . 8 million in assets.. that's important because this event was enough for her to drop expected public face .. both of us extremely experienced backpacking hikers. Hiking near Aztec peak about 15 miles north east as the crow from that peek coming out of a box canyon helping my sister up a rock as she stood up she said what is that . ? We looked about 50 feet away was something on the other side of the small box canyon where we had crossed. We where off trail the whole way btw. Was something behind a tree about 6 feet up with black fur and white v shape fur on it . . We thought a mule deer. Or a grazing cow. . I wanted to get closer so I tryed it ran...... . When it ran the upper body swaying left going right and right going left....took us a confused moment to realize... deer ,cows. Ext there center of gravity is about 1 and a half foot off the ground. Thay dont sway with there weight above 3 feet .... the movement was completely impossible. For anything we have ever encountered . We have been stalked by a mountain lion. Ran face to face with a bear. Met the Coatimundis . . My sister couldn't even bring herself together saying that doesn't make sense. I saw it but it doesn't seem real. She insisted we hike about 20 miles out of the way to not go back that way . We talked about it trying to explain it is entirely possible it was a person dressed up trying to make a sighting . Or a Apache from the rez dressed up messing with us. I'm not saying it was bigfoot . i am a sceptic so I believe it was a person. Because if it wasn't. Than it was not a human. . After that she only will say . It was weird and . Nothing else. I still remember the moment as if it was yesterday. .. but that's my story ! Only idfk moment in my adventures. Let's hear it man!

Nova 2006 i experiences something like that in my country bud mine was different because it happen at my house, we live little bit in a remote area so couple house over there and there so there is now street light and dirt road so pretty dark area, one night i was sitting out side listening to music about 1:00 am i notice a figure of person standing in the dark out side my property , i was looking at it and it was strange because its was moving up and down behind the rock wall that we have as fence, like someone is trying to crouch and then stand again, so i yelled hey who is there and that thing kinda crouch again like hide behind fence and only his head was sticking out, now i thought was my cousin who live close to me who was trying to scare me , so i yelled again telling my cousin i now is you come out and stop messing around , bud that thing was still there so stand up walk to it and thinking is my cousin messing with me bud it was my biggest mistake i have done ,soon i was getting close suddenly that thing stand up so tall like over 2.5 meters and i could look at it better this time it was just a black figure no face no skin nothing just black figure of a person , my hair stood all my body i had chills running all over my body i was in fear, and started to backing away and suddenly that thing came true the fence and drop down and turn in to dark cloud and came straight at me and i just turn run jump the fence behind my house run not even looking back, i run so hard without realizing that i was running away from my home in the dark, and when stop to see if that thing still followed me , and I realize was standing on the dirt road in the dark away from my home now I started to panic more and more and saying to my self how the hell i going back were that thing just chase me i could see shit because it was dark and i when to far from my house so i run to my cousin house and told them what happen to me, what ever that thing was not human, i never believed in ghost an demons things like that bud after that i was never the same it change me and i know now that there are supernatural things that exist. Some people tell me it could be demons or bad spirit, bud till this day i know what i saw and it was not human, so Nova i think maybe you guys saw a spirit or demon that day.

When I first hiked the Supersitians there was plane wreckage on the face of the mountain. A military pilot that didn't quite make it. we hiked to the edge of the " flat Iron " and would toast the sunset with Tequila. many other hikes through out the mountains were quite amazing. sometimes we heard strange noises at night, the closer to the " Needle " the stranger they were.
Ahh , to be young and viral again .

A big like just because you’re using a Lumix and you’re exploring my state. I’m using an S1 and love these cameras like I love AZ. By the way, the superstition Mountains are part of a super volcano. Only one of five on the planet. This was confirmed in my geology studies at Arizona State. It’s incredible and not many people know this but it’s true.

I've lived in the area for more than 20 years. No longer hike the areas I used to. It's grand and rugged scenery and terrain. However, the majority of the stories are simply silly fables passed down from prospectors, bar flies, and local lore to attract tourists.

If you look at the landscape, you can see it’s jagged and really wild and unlike other areas of the Arizona desert landscape. There are many beautiful places to hike in the Southwest. Why go to an area where weather can change any second and so much death/beheadings have happened and many disturbed spirits dwell? Some may split thru the cracks but your definitely asking for it by going to these places.
