Happy Birthday, Dominique! I am your age, a working mom in a professional setting, and I have always had beautiful hair and makeup - until about 8 or so years ago, - it just was not working. I was so frustrated. I finally found a stylist who understands what I want in my hair - volume, texture and movement. So between the cut and your updated styling and product tips, my hair is back to what I expect, which makes me sooo happy! I was also very frustrated with my makeup, as it was just wasn't working. I'm a brunette with blue-green eyes, and my coloring has always been fun to play up. But i just looked drab. My daughter works for Estee Lauder and brightened my lip, and "neutraled" my eye, which helped, but it was still not what I wanted. Your tutorials have helped me bring precision to my makeup routine. i love the eye tips. the foundation to clean up afterward is just awesome, tightlining brought compliments from my 25 yr old make up expert daughter, and the use of MATTES has been absolutely liberating . LOVE it. I use too faced's neutral matte palette, tightline with black/brown pencil, and very tightly line the upper and lower lashes with the darkest color. Sweeping my blush up at the cheekbone instead of back, or making apples has been awesome. My brows are now sparse and grayish, and your tips helped me define and intensify the look, AND, being very specific with a light color right underneath to add contrast to the lower line of the brow has just been IT. Love it. So, now I have you on many times when I do my hair and makeup, just keeping me company, and solidifying the techniques! Thank you so much!!!!

Kristy Payne Oribe makes an anti-humidity spray that is awesome. You spray it on before blow drying. Oribe products also smell amazing. They're pricey, but you can get travel sizes on Amazon. Their dry texture spray appears on best products lists of several magazines and beauty websites. I also love their Royal Blow Out thermal styling spray and Gold D'or hair oil for leave in conditioner. (I don't work for Oribe or anything like that, just love their products.)

Swiping that big ole paddle brush like a pro ... and my fringe (bangs...!) misbehave identically. I risk offending hairdressers by insisting they blow out my fringe first, lord knows if they don't get in early, all is lost for a sleek framework!
Hey Dominque, this technique of blowing the fringe (ooh ok, bangs) to the sides, not under and forward, has REVOLUTIONISED my eternal frustration with a high forehead + thin bangs combo. Creates a sleek and much thicker result up front.

Dominique - First of all Happy Birthday! Have you ever experienced hair loss? I was wondering if you have if it'd be possible to talk about that. I'm 43 and have been having excessive shedding. My doctor did some testing, and he said I'm healthy but it's still scary!
Biotin, the oral version!!!
Hi x I hope you get some helpful solutions from the testing. Just a tip that helped with general hair shedding that made a big difference to my hair, is following these steps:
Brush hair gently when DRY, before washing, to detangle (I use a Detangle brush)
Slather DRY hair with conditioner (if long, clip it up) for about 10 minutes.
In shower, add shampoo to scalp and wash roots to mid length - let the shampoo run down but don't 'wash' ends.
Rinse shampoo out (apply second shampooing if it's needed).
When towel drying hair, don't rub, just squeeze gently.
NEVER comb or brush hair wet - apply some hair oil to hands + 'finger comb' hair.
If you have the time, allow hair to air dry, or style once partially dry.
All this lack of pulling and combing the hair when wet has meant I don't shed nearly as much hair and amazingly, at 55 years old, my hair is the thickest and longest it's ever been...
.... just in time for me to consider going shorter (Dominique inspired, of course!)

Lifeasahoosier, I am a nurse & I am 54 years old. I have naturally thick curly hair. Last year I had a thinning spot related to stress.
I meditate every morning and exercise daily to manage stress
I have taken Biotin for years.
I started on Bone Broth & Collagen (Dr Axe Store) it has really helped.
It is not really medically recommended, but I also take a prenatal vitamin. Years ago I use to work for one of the best rheumatologist and he prescribed prenatal vitamins for all of his female patients. I watched their labs improve and it really thickens the hair.
I wrap my hair in a tee-shirt instead of a towel per stylist advice.
I also use a deep conditioner once a week.
I hope this adds to the other great suggestions! 😊l

My hair is usually very goofy in the morning. Part of it is I sleep on my back, which encourages my cowlicks. But I just get it wet in the shower to restyle, putting off shampooing.
Have you tried using one of those satin night caps -- they work wonders especially if you have a sense of humor! Amazon sell them.
I do a blow out similar to Dominique's and lasts 3-4 days as well. It's about taking the time to blow dry section by section and adding the right hair products. Finishing off with hairspray helps hold the style.
I have cowlicks at the back of the crown and looks awful from sleeping, and I definitely get that dreaded bedhead look! To avoid that, I section off the crown and use a soft hair tie that doesn't pull the hair and go to sleep. The next day I comb it out, add hair spray to the crown, and voilà, perfectly coiffed hair like I just came from the salon!!👩
The hair tie prevents the cowlicks from separating and at the same time adds volume to the crown, so the hair doesn't have that flat, matted look. Also, I occasionally will flatiron my hair if the ends don't look right.
When I had long hair, I wore a high ponytail to bed. Now it's a little longer than Dominique's and I tie just at the crown.
I also use dry shampoo before bed. I apply at the roots without combing, then tie it up, and go to bed. The next morning I don't have the white powder at the roots and restyling doesn't take more than 5-10 max. This gives me more time to do my makeup💄
Try it out and see what happens. Happy styling, ladies👑

Love your videos! I agree with you that flat irons really need to be used sparingly. I have almost 100% white hair and find that unless protected with product, even blow drying on too high heat can cause yellowing.

I love all of your videos! But I have to admit that I watched this thinking this would never work for my curly hair that is so prone to frizz. I have tried multiple products trying to blow my hair smooth, but have never been able to achieve this look. It has always been either still frizzy, "bushy" or completely limp that would still frizz once I stepped outside. However...much to my surprise and delight....this worked!!! Thank you!
to tell the truth your hair doesn't look very frizzy. I've seen other videos of this kind, that's why I've got this impression. maybe your hair is healthy and so it is easy to handle . Thanks for your tips. I'll try this technique tomorrow!

A million thanks, Dominique, for the blow drying tip on the bangs! My hair is generally stick straight (I'm half Asian, so I've got that straight but fine texture) but since I've been highlighting and coloring my hair for about 10 years now, I noticed the texture has gotten roughed up and it tends to frizz more, resulting in my bangs (which were always painfully straight) now wave in a "C" shape back toward my part (not the best look) in high humidity and living in NC now, that's means my hair is crazy most of Spring and all of summer! Your direction was a God-send, I watched this tutorial last night and tried it this morning and my bangs stayed perfectly straight ALL DAY, so THANK YOU for such a simple and terrific tip!

I have a lot of hair with CURL to my hair. Yet my hair fiber is medium to fine. I tried the shampoo you mentioned with terrible results. The silk leave in isn't a bad product, but I can't use it continuously. You're lucky to have found products that work for you.

I tried your method and it works well! I have thinner, but wavier hair than yours, and I used a Hot Tools brush which is very similar. This morning I went to my hairdressers and she was using a new nozzle on her hairdryer which has two rollers which glide down the hair as she is blow drying it with a brush. This produces very shiny straight hair (as you might get with a flat iron) but which still has lift at the roots from the brush. It is a universal nozzle and think this might be something you would like!
