I have a question about redeeming the $250 Hilton resort credits.
My hubby and I both have the Hilton credit card. We booked a 4 night stay with certificates and points. I used one of my certificates on Day 2 of our stay and my hubby used certificates and points for the other days during the stay.
How do we settle the bill at the end of the stay with both of our cards to get the resort credits?
Will the hotel just split the incidentals bill in half on both cards or will the incidentals bill be charged to the person that the the room was reserved on when we charged incidentals to the room?

Yup, yacht is the standard transport. Apparently they have 4 and we were on the smallest one. $700/person roundtrip💀💀

I’ve always been curious. If you have any mid or high end hotel status e.g. Hilton Aspire card for diamond status, does the people working at the front desk of the hotel know if you have this status level because you have a certain credit card (compared to status based on spend/paid nights)?? Was wondering if some people don’t get upgrades even with status because hotel knows that you have it because of a CC and not because you necessarily stay at the hotel brand often. Does anyone know? Thanks.

Hi Ask sebby you are the king/master of credit cards. Hopefully to do the same trip too with my wife,is it possible to do it with the chase set up first or wait till I have the Hilton Aspire card to do the same trip to the Maldives or Bora Bora???
Chase setup works well for Hyatt. WA requires a LOT of Hilton points or FNCs.

Breakfast was free due to status. If you're budget concise, about $50/2 people for dinner per night. This would be like 2 pizzas and no alcohol.
I think $100 to $150 per night for 2 is comfortable (with no alcohol).
Hey Sebastian, great video! I actually booked the exact same trip after hearing you talking about in your last video. I only have a Hilton Surpass card, but I was able to collect 2 weekend certificates and 240,000 points, all of which are used to book the Waldorf Maldives.
My question is what is process for coordinating transfers from Male to the island? Did they contact you directly or do you have to reach out to them yourself before the trip?
Also, was it easy to get an upgrade there? Did you have to ask? I’m only a Gold elite so maybe I won’t be as lucky as you guys.

They contact you. They run multiple boats a day that are based off guests arriving.
Upgrades are always based off availability. Another subscriber (currently here) who has Gold was upgraded from Beach Villa to Reef Villa.

When staying at a resort like this outside of the states; do you typically ask for an upgrade when you arrive, or do you contact the hotel a few days prior seeing if there is any availability for a complimentary upgrade?
In my experience, having Hilton Diamond status helps a lot. Usually automatic suite upgrades at Hiltons upon arrival in Asia (depending on availability). Waldorf Astoria might be different, but we got lucky this time. The overwater upgrade is $400+tax if you have to pay out of pocket.
Doesn't hurt to contact the hotel a few days prior to ask.

Hey Sebby! I’m guessing you had one reward night from the aspire card and another one from the 15K Surpass card. And the 3rd free? We’re you able to consolidate the 4 reservations to being in the same room? Or did you have to jump around rooms?

@@thecreditcardmd Late answer but they were all separate reservations. They merge them when you check-in (less cleaning needed on their end so it's a win-win).
How do you get status from all those chain brands (Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt)? I know some credit cards offers some basic statuses but most of them are basic. Do you really stayed that many nights with them?

Hey Sebastian , could you please tell me what month (and approx. dates) you visited the Waldorf during this stay and how the weather was during this time of year, because it looks amazing by the video? Wasn't sure if it was the dates you posted this blog or another time. Personally, I was looking at booking a 10 night stay during the middle and later part of November. Looking for nice predictable weather without the crowds of peak season while in the Maldives.
10 nights at 1 property feels really long to me.
We booked around the same time; shoulder season works well for weather + higher odds of upgrades (and less crowds).

WA is nicer/bigger/newer. I liked that you could bike around StR with ease though (smaller island).

Must be a little surreal to stay there. Like this is a resort a lot of people look at online for fun so to actually stay there must be really awesome!
It's crazy that there's celebrities here. Serena Williams last week and another ("world's top 5 men's") tennis player during my entire stay.

Yes, they are different products.

I question I’m dying to know the answer is. Does the WA’s lagoon seem “meh” for the Maldives when compared to The Conrad and W, and other resorts. The picture make it look like the extent of clear water near water villas to be not much.
Did you get your answer? I was just googling around and there was an article about why you should stay at the W versus the Waldorf Astoria.
@@Re3iRtH I actually went since I made that comment. I found that the water was fine but not as good as the two “natural” resorts I visited. It wasn’t very much of a sandy bottom unless you had an interior reef/beach villa.

Question regarding the certificate:
One year timer before expiring starts the day you call to redeem free night (approx.8-12weeks I believe). If you in the first year never call you redeem certificate, does that offer go away or the following year get now two? Hope this makes since because I’m coming on my first year of Aspire and haven’t called it in yet, but plan on taking a trip next year so having two certificates from just renewing my Aspire would be great!

It's 1 year from issuance. I don't think you can combine 2 like that.
If you have a companion (Player 2) have them get the Aspire as well.
