- Just Stop Oil supporters are protesting on the M25 for the fourth consecutive day.
Surrey Police said officers are dealing with activists who climbed a gantry at Junction 8 of the UK’s busiest motorway.
The road has been closed in both directions while officers climb the gantry.
Essex Police said they arrested a woman attempting to climb a gantry around 1.5 miles from Junction 28 clockwise.
The force said: “One lane was closed for a short time as officers responded to the situation.”
The Metropolitan Police said: “We’re ready to respond to any criminality on the M25 again today and will work quickly to minimise disruption and keep traffic moving.”

Maybe if the stop the oil (painting') group were clever, gave a viable alternative, and stopped committing criminal acts, people might listen. They could promote things like LFTR's or Liquid Thorium Floride Reactors, a 60+ year old technology, being redeveloped right now, and is a very clean, very safe, abundant source of planet wide power for millennia... and that's before we even get to new geo thermal technology potential. That's lowers CO2 levels sustainably whether you believe Co2 is a problem, or not. All I hear about is problems, wild statements, and really ill considered painful solutions. There might be a better way, no matter who is right, or wrong, about the level of mankind's influence, is all.

My dad died on the first day of lockdown in 2020. My heart broke, as for a man who loved his family, worked hard, received little more than a pauper's funeral. No handles on his coffin, no bearers, home made flowers, as at this stage of the lockown, businesses were still working out how to work through it. This still haunts me, so for us to go through the pandemic, and get back to normal, this poor man was stopped by a group of people who want to get on telly and offer no logical cross-over plan to gradually stop fossil fuels. How on earth can we just suddenly "stop"?

Even if all the claims made by climate activists were true, and I am not convinced, surely the goal is to get to net zero not get rid of all fossil fuels. Maybe there are ways through technology and tree planting that we can achieve net zero whilst we slowly transition.

I remember the climate crisis in the 60s when people were convinced ( even scientists) we were headed for the next ice age ( the sea froze over in Kent for 4 months). Right again eh .
