64. Rectus Femoris Stretch

  • The Rectus Femoris is one of 4 Quadricep muscles and is the only one to cross the hip as well as the knee joint. The Rec Fem runs straight through the middle of the Quadriceps in a vertical line.
    We find this is the most useful way to stretch the muscle. Whilst it is difficult to get into this position for some, it is really easy to hold the stretch once into this position. An alternate way to stretch the muscle would be to stand on one leg and pull the ankle back of the other leg, towards your bum.
    Suggested reps:
    20-30secs x 4
