      The male in this video is one of our Osteopaths who has a manual job that causes the tension in his forearms to accumulate and then contribute to the tennis elbow, so unfortunately it is a side effect of being a manual therapist. The treatment was offered as a maintenance-prevention type treatment to avoid flare ups which proved quite successful.

    does pullover training also have an effect on muscle serratus anterior growth?

    • @northallertonosteopaths
      @northallertonosteopaths Před rokem

      If you mean the same position as this with a weight in your hands then to a degree, yes. In this video as you lower your arms down to the floor you are partly fasciliating this movement by activating your Serratus Anterior. However, with a weight in your hands it is the weight that encourages the movement of your arm down to the ground. Your latissiums dorsi eccentrically contracts as it lengthens to control this movement and lower your arm steadily. The latissimus dorsi will then concentrically contract and shorten in order to raise your arm and weight back up in the air against gravity. With weight it will primarily be the latissimus dorsi, triceps, and pectorals that will be working but there will be some serratus anterior activation although it is not a specific serratus anterior exercise. Hope this makes sense!

    • @northallertonosteopaths
      @northallertonosteopaths Před rokem

      Hi Mattias. As I'm sure you can appreciate it is always safest to speak to someone who can physically examine you before suggesting if an exercise is appropriate for you or not. What we can say is that this exercise would not be appropriate for someone with a more recent disc injury as flexion would aggravate this, however we may look to prescribe this exercise to patients with more chronic issues that have gone on for a longer period of time as you suggest. Hope this info helps and sorry we can't be more definitive in our answer.

      Hello apologies for the delay in the reply this comment appeared to have been missed. All Golfer's elbow issues are individual and largely depend one how much the aggravating factors are performed. In our experience however they may typical take on average around 4 sessions to be fixed in an ideal circumstance, with some exercises to take home to prevent the issue from returning.
