- This song is a treasure. It's actually from a DVD of the program, "Live By Request," starring Johnny Mathis. I, myself, own two copies and also buy them and give them out as gifts. If you cannot see Johnny in person, for whatever reason, I highly suggest this DVD. It's the next best thing to being at one of his concerts.
The night it was filmed, one phone request came in from, none other than, Nancy Reagan. Johnny has fans, from all walks of life, and we are all united in our love for his beautiful voice. If you want to find out what she requested, you'll have to buy the DVD. No, it's not one that everyone asks for, in case you're curious.

It’s so strange that you should post this.. I feel like it was me that did.. I love Johnny with every fiber of my being.. I too also lost the love of my life. I woke up n found him in bed next to me from an overdose.. I’m so sorry for your loss.. you never get over it…. Take care of yourself.. sending love n prayers your way.. at least we still have this magnificent man.. there’s no one like him.. he’s as beautiful as his beautiful voice.. gong to see him for the second time since January.. can’t wait.. stay safe❤🌹🙏

He's my favorite male vocalist. Streisand does an outstanding version of this as well.
This is another of my favorite John Royce- song. His voice with this lyrics makes me fly 5cm over the floor when I walk over it. There neves has been, and never will be anyone with such a voice, and with such a personality with it. I have adored this person in nearly 50 years. It began in my very early teens. I heard the composers, Herb Martin & Michael Leonard, sing this at a "backers' audition" in the '60's for their show "The Yearling." It was pure magic. JM's singing certainly does the song justice (though he could have done fine with a simpler backing). The Yearling, alas, failed, but some of the fine songs - this one among them - survived...thanks to recordings like this one.

Wow -- the sun streaming through the clouds, that rainbow, the low sun shining red over the water, the vertical rainbow going into the mountains, the prow of the boat sailing into the sunset, (I'm from the west coast so must believe that's a sunset) just beautiful with Johnny's voice and the words to the song, what a feast for the soul!

Johnny Mathis has never performed badly. He presents with class and his sound is original to him. May I suggest Barbra Streisands version and also Bill Evans performance done instrumentally on piano. This is a lovely song with lovely lyrics. Thank you for sharing Mathis. Haven’t heard him a long time. Shame on me!

There's no quitting when you have a talent.............That's what makes Mr.mathis the best ever...........he still performs in concert at his age............And it must be harder for him than Streisand since she is about ten years younger than him....

Johnny's rendition of this is beautiful, Freddy Cole and Streisand also do nice versions of this, -- it's a very lovely, meaningful song! It sounds like something Nancy Reagan would request, she and Ronnie were so in love, from start to his end, she never loved anyone again after he died.

I've always liked Mathis. My wife and I caught him onstage with Mancini in the Midwest. That said, as a retired DJ, this recording is overprocessed with way too much reverb....he didn't need it!
