Andy LaRoque is a so underrated guitar wizard !
Amon to that!
He's a virtuoso, hands down one of the best of the 80's
For real! Love him on the death album (individual thought patterns) and his cameo on at the Gates album
He is not underrated to those who know!
Andy LaRoque is my 5th favorite guitarist.
This whole album is epic and worth a listen! King Diamond is a great story teller.
One of the only albums I have on every format (and multiple vinyl copies).
It's a must listen for all people that like concept albums
I'm so surprised and glad you got around to King Diamond. This band is perfect for both of you. Aside from being one of the greatest vocalists, King is an amazing storyteller in concept and lyrics. Plus the guitarist Andy LaRocque is one of the best alongside the fantastic musicianship of the other band members. Definitely do more reactions. I recommend the song Sleepless Nights. As for the vocals, for some people it takes getting used to and once you do you'll definitely get into them.
Hank Sherman, Michael Denner, Andy LaRoque, Michael Moon, Herb Simonsen, Mike Wead, Pete Blakk... All Guitar Gods !
Been a king diamond fan since 1980s the Abigail CD is one of the most played in my car
...not so sure King Diamond is for everyone
brad does really like piercing highs i think.. could be wrong
@@rickycoleman8841 some ditz told me he died in the late 80's i was like na no way i'd know lol
I've been listening to the King for 30 plus yrs and still get chills when he belts out those high notes... đ€đ€đ€
Me too brother! đ€đŒđ€đŒđ€đŒ
Them is on my short list of all time favorite albums
black horsemen ....the whole album is a masterpiece. very "fresh" for a 34 year old album
Just started listening to it like 5 years ago. Phenomenal
You guys should react toâŠ
King Diamond - Sleepless Nights (Live at The Fillmore)
đžđ€
Was just gonna say this, they have to watch the live video and not the lyrics video.
Definitely do this one! A lot of reactors have done it but this live version is as good or better than the studio version and shows King at his best even this late in his career.
Yes this!!!!!!!!!!!
Melissa would be another great live one to see
King Diamond. I could talk about his albums for hours. They're all concept albums, which means it's a complete story and every song is a chapter. Hes amazing.
Fatal Portrait and Spider's Lullabye aren't full concept albums, but they do contain "mini concepts".
Good stuff, concept or not! :-)
The song Abigail is from an album of the same name. It is a concept album. The lyrics are one big horror story from beginning to end. You should listen to the whole album and read the lyrics. It will make more sense if you do...
Yes yes yes!!! You guys GOTTA check out the album "Them" by King Diamond. It's incredible. đ€đ€đ€
Every album is fantastic, especially "Conspiracy", "Puppet Master", "Them" and "The Eye".
@@nicolasarbogast2739 Conspiracy is so wicked
That riff to Welcome Home đ€đ„
@@screamingscarecrow4251 Umm, I didnt care for that song as he was singing to grandma
Mercyful Fate Donât Break the Oath was the best album.
Legendary album
It's nooot.
Ypu should listen to it on LSD
Hell yeah! My favorite album of all time.
Melissa is better imo
King Diamond has so many good songs. Keep exploring, you wonât be disappointed.
Welcome my friend, my name is CHAAARRROOOOOOONNNN!!!!
A Halloween favorite. The live show is insane.
Brad: "What in the world?"
KD Fans: "Yup"
I saw Abigail live in a small club in San Pedro called the Waters Club around 1986 it was awesome, I also saw the "Them" tour in Anaheim. It's so cool that you 2 are checking out this music.
House Of Blues. On Disney Land property. I was at that one a long with many other King shows.
Holy shit ... I was at that waters show... Crazy
The KING!!!! Most people donât make it deep enough into metal to experience the King himself. You guys are lucky and cool!!!
Yes, yes, fucking yes! King Diamond is one of the greatest story tellers in music. The album Them about his grandmother coming home from an insane asylum is my personal favorite.
The drum fill that starts off Welcome Home gets hyped every time
@@miraclefred Iâll stop everything Iâm doing to air drum that opening fill every time I hear it.
The most iconic falsetto in metal.
Itâs just nice to know there are ladies this cool in the world. Iâve been searching for one for a long time!
King's voice is amazing. They sweep from gutteral lows to operatic highs. Each voice is a different character. HE is the Stephen King of Heavy Metal. Andy LaRoque is on guitar. This is from the album Abigail and tells the story of an unborn child that was actually an evil entity that possess a pregnant woman. It takes place in 1777
Finally, KING DIAMOND!!!!!!! Check out his original band MERCYFUL FATE if you want to hear where so many bands got their sound from. Black Funeral is a must to react to.
Denner/Shermann are probably the most underrated guitar tandem in metal.
Lex was jammin.... this album is a great, dark story. Need to listen to Merciful Fate too, King was also in this band. Listen to Come to the Sabbath from them. đ€
Merciful Fate was before he went solo as King Diamond, they used to burn crosses on stage when allowed.
OLD OAK { hangin; tree } is the best Merciful Fate song...so many changes and great subject matter for a song
Hahaha the look on Brad's face is priceless.
King diamond is a legend! Also my first concert. I love how all of his albums are stories with fantastic musical talent behind it.
This is why I recommend King Diamond Sleepless Nights Live so you could fully experience the King. (Even if not a reaction you should check it out, he is an amazing performer)
Yep, the Sleepless Nights live performance video is EPIC.
KD is so good live!! They blew me away! He can hit these note effortlessly!! đ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»
This is part of a concept album called Abigail,, as I'm sure other comments must have mentioned by now... Not going to go digging through them to find out that. Anyway, it is a brilliant record, from start to finish. If you're ever looking to do a full album reaction it is a brilliant Horror Story and a really good time
I have not heard this song for a while. I can remember being a teenager listening to this album when it was new (somehow i do remember). I loved Mercyful Fate and King Diamond then. But i think i love them more now. Brings back alot of good times. And the music has aged well. Still sounds great. It dont sound like other 80's music, and i do like alot of 80's music, the 80's were my teenage years. King Diamond was considered very extreme in the 80's.
King Diamond MUST be experienced live for the full effect. He is a true showman.
One person doing vocals long live the King Diamond đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€
King D is awesome, you need to listen to 'At the graves' from the album 'Conspiracy'
This whole album is pretty epic, tells a story. King Diamond's vocals kind of grow on you after a while.
Abigail is a witch who was executed on July 7th 1777.... according to the story in the album.
One thing to know about king diamond is the albums are meant to be listen to as a whole and it tells a huge narrative
Lex is such a Metal Queen đ€đœđžđŸ You'll need to go see some of these bands live now. Iron Maiden is a definite buck list band when they tour 2022, but see as many different bands as you can when they play yer local area. You will be blown away by the ice experience đ€đ»đ€đŹđ§
MERCYFUL FATE - "Egypt". This was King Diamond's old band. They reunited in 1993 and recorded a perfect album.
"Halloween" is probably King Diamond's most iconic song and "Give me your soul" is another one worth checking out.
King Diamond is basically the heavy metal horror version of Prince. He writes all the lyrics, & all the guitar & keyboard parts. You just never see him playing because he focuses on being the frontman. Andy LaRoque & current guitarist Mike Wead play live & they record what King writes. His guitar is a REALLY cool black BC Rich Warlock with the word THEM on it in blood splatter style. King is a very good guitarist
I used to play this album for my kids in the mid 90s because they referred it as the ghost story.
You all are awesome, listening with you like enjoying king for the 1st time !!!!! Long live king
Abigail! Phenomenal album...but it's meant to be heard as a whole.
Saw King Diamond live in 1986 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. His voice Live....Oh man this guy can sing!
King is the perfect mix of horror comedy and theatrics.
I literally searched your videos just now to see if you ever did a King Diamond video before and imagine my amazement when I see you posted this today! What a crazy coincidence!!!! Need to do "At the Graves" next. It's truly one of his best tunes.
The album "conspiracy" by king diamond, is a story that is told through all the songs. it is the best produced, even though all of the 80's albums are good.
Looking forward to seeing Brad's reaction to King Diamond Christmas song - no presents this Christmas
I have followed king diamond for 40 years now from mercyful fate till now..love his stories..can't believe I was 16 when I 1st heard his voice..
I love watching them listen to metal! Lex is always so smiley and just enjoying herself. Brad always seems focused and giving the song attention in terms to the song structure and lyrics. I love when new people discover the music I love and enjoy it! It makes me very happy seeing Lex smiling and dancing around. Genuinely happy yâall are enjoying it!
THE KING! The entire album is amazing!
EPIC GUITARS EVERY SONG!
WOW! Awesome stuff you guys brought on.. More King Diamond :D
A Mansion In Darkness SLAPS, probably my fav Kind Diamond song
So glad you chose this! They are top notch musicians and his voice is so good!đ if you like this, you should listen to Mercyful Fate too! Particularly Melissa. â€
Get that girl to a King Diamond concert ASAP. And yes, that's one person singing. King Diamond has a hellava range. But his signature style is that high pitched soprano voice. And he can do those lower growing vocals very well too. Another great KD song to try is Sleepless Nights. One of his most popular songs.
Watch sleepless nights live to see KING live
Love that you enjoyed this. King Diamond is one of my favorite bands/vocalists. My username is derived from this album (in conjunction with an online RPG, Ultima Online) and my pfp is a representation of King Diamond's stage outfit and makeup from back in the day lol.
So you can understand the vocal qualities a bit more.. King Diamond uses different vocal styles and switches from high falsetto to low growling tones to indicate either different characters within the story being told or to emphasize specific phrases within a sentence for impact within the story. Each album is like a scary story being told.. each song continuing the story from where the last song ended. To get the full impact you have to listen to the songs back-to-back and in the order they were released on the album... and in a few cases across multiple albums.
Not everyone gets into his vocals but that is just the way the world works lol.
I would suggest the next King Diamond song be "Sleepless Nights' from the album 'Conspiracy"
Most of his albums are concept pieces that tell a story throughout with each song leading into the next. After âAbigailâ was the sequel called âThemâ, and yesâŠthe musical talent he assembled was amazing!
Great reaction, thank you for finally checking out the King. This album is a complete story from beginning to end, incredible musicianship, and King Diamond singing separate voices for all the different characters. Epic shit doesn't even describe it.
As far as his albums, in Mercyful Fate the lyrics were mostly occult & Satan based. In his solo band he writes "concept albums" Each as album is an original horror story that writes the music & lyrics for. Each song is a chapter in the story. This song is basically the beginning of the end of the story. I recommend listening to King Diamond albums from start to finish so you get the whole story
All Hail the True King
Other songs by King Diamond
The family ghost
Welcome home
The eye of the witch
Also King Diamond 's original band Mercyful Fate.
So psyched and proud of you for doing this!!!!!
King Diamond (real name - Kim Bendix Petersen) is fron Denmark. He first came to fame in the early 80's as the vocalist of Mercyful Fate. In 1985, a split in Mercyful Fate led to the formation of the King Diamond band. King Diamond also played keyboards in the studio.
1st album 'Fatal portrait' was followed by a full story concept album 'Abigail' in 1986... the premise was revenge of the unborn đż
'Abigail LeFey' was the unborn daughter of the wife of Count LeFey who was killed by the Count after he discovered his wife had an affair... in 1777(?) the stillborn Abigail was laid to rest by the Count and the 'Black Horsemen' who feared she was a cursed child conceived from evil.
Years later, after the Count's death, his heir Jonathan LeFey & his newlywed wife Miriam travel to the Count's mansion, but confronted by the Black Horsemen and warned not to settle in the mansion... Jonathan disregards their warning and moves into the mansion w/ Miriam. A ghost of Count LeFey appears to Jonathan reveals what happened w/ his wife and raises alarm that 'Abigail' will return.
Miriam is pregnant and as she gets further into her prenancy, she starts behaving oddly... this track 'Abigail' near the end of her pregnancy, Miriam is fully possessed and reveals herself to be 'Abigail LeFey' and newborn child will be her rebirth... Attempting to free herself from Abigail, Miriam briefly breaks free and pleads w/ Jonathan to kill her... but Jonathan refuses.
The album's last track 'Black horsemen' begins w/ the possessed Miriam shoving Jonathan down the stairs. A helpless Miriam then goes into labor and dies giving birth that night... the Black Horsemen arrive at the mansion to find a newborn baby eating the corpse of her mother. They take the baby away... presumably to carry out the same ritual as before...
King Diamond has written most of his albums around a horror concept story. "Them" from 1987 is a great album by King Diamond... followed by "Conspiracy" in 1989. Others include 'House of God' (2000), 'The graveyard' (1997), 'Voodoo' (1998)
King Diamond revisited 'Abigail' in 2002 in the 'Abigail II: The revenge'... the story picks up years later when 'Abigail LeFay' is apparently alive and a teen, spared by the Black Horsemen... she apparently finds the mansion she was born in to find her father Jonathan LeFey has survived his fall, but has gone somewhat insane... and a little ghost in the mansion appears at night to be calling her "mommy"...đŹ
I have a decades long habit of naming my pets after song titles.
Was never intentional but looking back over my life there is a pattern going on.
This habit began with this song and a pet ferret
Most of KD's albums are concept albums, meaning you won't get what's going on fully if you just jump in at the middle (the song "Abigail" is track #8 out of 9). If you ever react to a full album, Abigail is a perfect start. Listening to the whole album in order is like watching a horror movie.
Favourite album together with Them, both are masterpieces!
Love this song, my favorite by King Diamond. He was great in Mercyful Fate, and Nightmare is my favorite song by them.
Look at Lex doing some air keyboards! đ€đ€
Check out the track, "Welcome Home".
Plus something from the album Don't Break the Oath from Merciful Fate (King Diamonds older other band), I'm sure others have mentioned it.
You're thinking about the Annabelle doll (the real doll was a Raggedy Ann Doll, but in the movies it was a ceramic doll). But, man.. King Diamond is so amazing. Been a fan for years now, and got to see him twice. Hoping that I can one day see Mercyful Fate live.
Ohh yeah The King. This abum is a horror story, very very classic .
The album Abigail is a concept album. You have to listen to the entire album to hear the story
Iâm surprised the studio was still standing after that solo!
đ„ đ„ đ„
Best metal band ever and still putting out new stuff every album is good all but first are concept albums
The shock in the guy's eyes right after the 00:51 mark is what I always wait for when they react to this type of songs đ
King! King of horror rock!! All kings albums are concept albums Ghost stories . King changes his voice for different characters in the story
Try sleepless nights live at the Fillmore
stories are magical he should make a movie
Annabelle is the doll you are referring to.
His band before this, Mercyful Fate has the greatest metal album ever with Dont Break The Oath.
King Diamon, Iron Maiden and Queensryche are very good storytellers
I saw him in 15 and he played the whole album live. Every album is a concept album. :)
That what i wanna see. This is real rock and im glad that now u know king diamond
One of the best storytellers of all time đ€đ€đ€
You have to listen to the whole album. It's a ghost story..."who will be the first"
I love king diamond...got all his music
FYI this is the singer and his original band Merciful Fate is what Metallica, Slayer and others grew up listening to
Yeah a lot of my friends liked king diamond I only liked a few of his songs and his other group merciful fate but a little goes a long way with King Diamond
Brad: â. . . wanna go [see possessed doll Abigail]?â
Lex: âTotally!â
đđ€Łđđ€Łđ
A Mansion in Darkness. My fave from this album. It tells the part when Jonathan and his wife enter the mansion for the first time.
React to Bodycount "No lives matter" or "Born dead", PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I've brought up Body count once myself. Come on you two, give it a try.
I love King Diamond. Great reaction video!
Well, I am excited. First time King Diamond...
Hey guys, listen to the whole album. His albums tell one story. Abigail is the spirit of a stillborn baby girl wreaking havoc on a family. His album "Them" is about a familys grandmother who comes home from a crazy house who can see and talk to the dead. Listen to the song "Welcome home" next. Listen from beginning to end. They all tell one story. Its cool. Youll love it.
YES!
Annabelle and Abigail are 2 entirely different things !! One is a movie in the conjuring universe, the other is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.
Awesome to see a King Diamond reaction! Though Im surprised that on halloween you didnt choose the song "Halloween". All kIng Diamond albums are concept albums that tell stories. This song is but a chapter of a story about Abigail.
God bless king diamond
incredible concept album! This song will make much more sense if you listen to the entire album.
Great reaction !!
Yes KING FUCKING DIAMOND!!!
" remember the stairs" from when king was young and had to push the grandma down the stairs
Grandma. I knew it was you at the door.
The King!!!
You need to listen to the full album to completely understand this song as itâs a story in which each song is like a different chapter of the storyâŠYou should also listen to the full albums of â Themâ & âConspiracyâ two albums combined to tell one awesome story..Check them out you wonât be disappointed
