What I think people are missing is that it wasn’t about her looks, but her confidence. Blended is one of my favorite movies. Larry kept getting mistaken for a guy (over-exaggeratedly) and was uncomfortable with herself in her appearance. After her spa appointment, getting pretty dresses and hair extensions, she was more comfortable in herself and gained confidence, walking into a room proudly and with a smile on her face. Okay, I LOVE this movie! if you're wondering what it's about read! So basically there's two sets of families. Jim (adam sandler) has three daughters. Hillary, the one who got the make over, lou, and ESPN (named after his fav sporting network of course). Jim's wife passed away due to cancer and he gets set up on a blind date with Lauren (drew barrymore) and it doesn't go good. Lauren has two sons, Tyler and Brenden, and she is divorced. Lauren's best friend Jen has a boyfriend (dick) who planned a trip for them and his kids over spring break. Basicslly Jen didn't like that his kids were going and Dick got sad so he called the trip off. Lauren doesn't have anything planned so she asked Jen if she could have it. Meanwhile Jim overheard this conversation and he personally knows Dick so he asked if he could have it. They end up going on the same vacation together without realizing and have to act like a family. They end up falling in love and it's really sweet.
My girlfriend of many years has always been a tomboy. She fixes her own shit and not afraid to get her hands dirty. She's beautiful and built like a brick sh**house. Sweat pants and sweatshirt are her thing. But OMG when she decides to get dolled up! Even her boss of many years didn't even recognize her at the company Xmas party! She's low maintenance, loyal, curses like a sailor, honest as the day is long, is fair, and has a spiritual faith (and lives it) like no one I've ever met. No matter who you are, EVERYONE knows where they stand with her, including me. She's a redhead and has a temper. She doesn't hold back. I feel like I don't deserve her. I love her so much, even when we're pissed at each other. Just had to share cuz I'm proud of her as a good human, and that I'm fortunate enough to know. Ive learned a lot from her.
I loved this scene because it’s something special about someone seeing u as a young girl and helping your confidence. It was women who told me I was beautiful as a young lady and helped me see it in myself. Also made me see a guy saying I was hot or sexy wasn’t really a compliment 😂
Except this scene uses a supermodel with an already beautiful premium haircut as if shes an ugly teenager with unkempt hair or a boys haircut??😂 and she just averts her gaze like wow shes got no confidence! She was already 9.5/10 lol "Ordinary girl". The producers and comments here have porn level delusional perspective 😂😂
I once had a crying fit in a store, when I was in my mid-20's. Had a kind, middle-aged black lady sit next to me and ask what was wrong. I was honestly a mess at the time, none of my clothes fit me right, hadn't had a decent haircut in years, was facing homelessness. She handed me a tissue and lifted my chin up and said I had kind eyes, and a kind soul, and that it won't be like this forever. Now whenever I'm not doing well, I hear her voice, "It won't be like this forever" and I remember how she looked at me, looked INTO me. I often think of her and wish her happiness. Not even my male therapist has ever made me feel that level of secure and SEEN.
Why isnt it a compliment when a guy tells u ur hot or sexy? Im a guy (gay guy), n i often compliment beautiful women on their looks.. I hate to think someone could take offense to my compliment if I say ‘hot’ instead of ‘beautiful’…
@@Algimantaz I think if the compliment is not tied to hopes of hooking up, then it's easier for some females to see it as a true compliment. So it's likely that they would appreciate a "you're hot" comment from a gay guy a lot more than from a straight guy. But, as an ugly adolescent who became a mildly pretty adult, I appreciate all "hot" and "sexy" compliments from everyone including from straight guys.
Thisssss. I was really ugly during my teenagehood and the middle aged Ladies or pretty women calling me "love", "honey" or "beautiful" really brought me beacons of Joy. I'm now (funnily enough) considered beautiful and I behave just like them. I always wear bright red lipstick and nails because of them too 😂🥰
@@FlipperTitan That doesn't make sense in any way. Because one, those weren't "beauty standards of the times" they were some peoples standards, but they weren't universal. Second, just because there were toxic beauty standards that hurt people then and today doesn't make it acceptable, and in fact does the opposite. So I have no idea what you even mean?
Amazing it happened to me, I liked a woman on my job, It was her character and values that I caught my attention....as I looked deeper she a 10, she just didn't dresses in a way that put everything on display.....unbelievable one of the sexiest women I seen....with a heart of gold.

Trust me, as a tomboy a dress can completely change your look, it can change how a young woman feels inside and about herself. How she carries herself. Its never "just a dress". I know It feels good when I feel pretty and feminine. There are so many ways to be different, to be ourselves. Sometimes that's helmet hair and sometime's its long hair.
Super agree! I'm always confident when I get dressed to look good!! And always shy and introverted when I think the look doesn't fit me. I have lots of styles
As a fellow woman, I completely agree. And it's become one of my hobbies to find the right dress or combination of outfits that make me feel like myself in the best possible light.
I'm 41. My hair is almost always up or under a hat because it's in my wayyyyyyyyy lol I was asked if I was a boy until I was like 16. I still have scabby knees from climbing trees and chasing puppies but if I decide to put the hair down, makeup on and a dress? I look like an entirely different person! I get the occasional WOW which is super awesome for my non existent ego ❤ my sister is the hair and makeup girl. When she's down to natural face and regular clothes, I give her a wow!! ❤ she looks awesome both ways
Drew is such a sweetheart! She loves people so! I don’t watch much daytime television, but while I was in the hospital I saw true show and I have been a big fan of hers every sense. She’s so kind hearted and she’s really very interested and everyone that comes on her show she turned out great.
lol this is the reason why women stay stuck, women affirming women on their looks. She looked like a dude with that haircut. All she had to do was change it, she didnt have to go all out barbie. Men will straight up tell you, the reason you aren't approachable, is because you dress like a slop and look like you don't take care of yourself. Self esteem looks to be low. Confidence is key, but not be delusional also is key.
I love how Hilary was practically glowing towards the end of that clip. I love how the woman didn't force anything onto her either. Its beautiful to see such kindness and this short was so wholesome. I'm so grateful that I had such wonderful and gracious women in my life who helped me cuz I can totally relate to the mc alongside the way she felt after tapping into her femininity. I realized how natural it feels to me personally and that it's actually kinda nice.
Blended is a pretty good movie. For more context, the teen girl has a single dad and wants to be more girly but doesn't know how. The woman is a single mom with two boys and bonds with her over this. Throughout the movie befor this, it's established that the girl wants to be more girly and express her femininity more but struggles with it. It's not about her looking better, it's about her being able to express herself the way she wants to.
kind of but not really? in that trope girls usually don't care about looks but here she wanted to be more girly, she just didn't know how because of her dad
❤❤❤❤❤ I know she is playing a character but we can see the kindness and the good heart of Drew. I love her. Adam is good too. Very nice movie. A good entertainment.
@@daniellemartin9896 in my opinion it looked pretty, idk about what others think but i feel like that makeup/dress made her look overly "complicated" to put it like that
The conversation previously made it clear that it wasn't that she liked that style, it was because her dad chose everything and she didn't want to ever ask for money.
@@daniellemartin9896That "bad" haircut doesn't look so bad according to today's trends. Short, kinda messy haircuts are in style now. It did look "not too good" bad back then. She looked unkempt according to the trends. Same way that other movie "She's all that", she doesn't look bad at all before the transformation, she just looks normal and very cute. But she looked a little out of place back then, and glasses were not considered "stylish". I always used glasses and I got tired of hearing "you should use lenses" ever since I was 11 yrs old up until my adulthood. Nowadays people will say "nice glasses" to me, and they are just normal glasses. Just goes to show you how shallow people are, and how their looks are just fine most of the time.

Can someone explain to me why the word lesbian was edited? Lesbian isn’t a bad word. Muting the word is giving the idea that being mistaken for a lesbian is a bad thing.
in the context of the movie the point was to show how as a single dad he didn't really know how to raise a teenage girl and how important it can be for adult women to take girls that dont have moms under their wing.
She had low self confidence, the make over made her feel better since her dad only dressed her or her sisters in clothes he got from work, not all make overs are bad
Exactly. She wasnt happy.. She had no boy friend she said cause all the boys at school thought she was a lesbian... U could tell that didnt make her feel good...@@inkystars19
"Do you have a boyfriend? " "No, all the boys back at school think I'm a lesbian." "Would you like a makeover so that you can look more like a girl who wants to please the boys in her school so that they don't have to actually talk to you and get to know you more than by what they can judge by your makeup, miniskirt and extremely uncomfortable shoes? And we wouldn't want to look like a lesbian, would we, let's shop somewhere else than in the store for lesbians (where they all buy their clothes since they all dress exactly the same. 🙄)." This movie did NOT age well.
You would think that after all these years, Drew would have asked for help by now. She was so talented when she was little girl. Now she is just a joke.

They end up falling in love and it's really sweet.
whats the name of the movie?

All that plot explanation and no movie title 🤦

@@dovewing The same thing is true of women. People don't 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 if you're ugly on the inside.

Bella Thorne played Larry. She's absolutely beautiful.

I like how the make over sapped out all of her character. Like, she looked good, and then they just gave her hollywood hair, and no feckles.
Literally
Yeah I much preferred the 1st version aswell. I didn't see much of it of course but the hairstyle actually seemed pretty good to me.
Yeah this whole scene is an accident.
Horrible.
It is due to beauty standards at the time. Don't complain.
“Excuse me, sir. I’m here to pick up my basketball uniform..”

Why is lesbian getting censored?
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing.

Some girls like being tomboy, some don't. Some like dresses, some don't. Just depends!
As a tom boy, I have never felt more uncomfortable then when wearing a dress.
this character never really had another option to explore her style

Men will straight up tell you, the reason you aren't approachable, is because you dress like a slop and look like you don't take care of yourself. Self esteem looks to be low. Confidence is key, but not be delusional also is key.
@@jankoleon3785 I actually think she looks pretty before. She looks hip and cool, also younger. The glow up makes her 5 years older

I love Drew in this scene... she looks soooo beautiful in that hat.
Wow! Her hair grew! Its magic ✨ 🪄
Actually, there's usually much harder NOT to be "girly" since they tell you just about everywhere how you should dress and act to be "girly."
Her makeover looked great!
Drew would probably do this irl shes very kind
The "girl becomes hot when she throw away her glasses and got a new haircut" trope
kind of but not really? in that trope girls usually don't care about looks but here she wanted to be more girly, she just didn't know how because of her dad
Bella Thorne is just a gem. Gorgeous

Hair extensions and some light makeup and a dress. (In the movie), in reality... took off the wig, and put on a lot of makeup and a dress.

More like change the kind of makeup
its not a wig. she cut her actual hair for the movie
the definition of beautiful here was definitely kind of biased, she looked pretty before the "makeover"
The haircut was bad and it was objectively bad on purpose.
This is mostly just about how women are expected to wear only hyper feminine stuff

It should be censored and shunned and shamed frankly. Nevermind the cost of that man-hating death cult to any society but just the fact of moral depravity is frankly something that should remain behind closed doors. Do what you want in private with consent but let's not pretend it is anything but a sexual perversion unsuitable for society or children.
